I 'get' that there is a traditional 'Code of Silence' mentality for exPOTUSes (-POTII?) and high-ranking, high-profile retired military when it comes openly criticizing a POTUS. But it needs to end, NOW. And I don't mean end as in it's OK for 'innuendo' or vague statements. I mean flat out "He's incompetent/dangerous/insane" and "FGS, DON'T vote for that idiot". This is not a situation where a POTUS is simply making decisions that are not 'the best' but it'll work itself out or be corrected in the next Administration. This is someone who doesn't give a shit if he destroys the Country as long as he gets what he wants. His attitude is like a spoilt child with a coveted toy who smashes it when asked to share, "if I can't have it, no one else will have it either".
I don't get Bush, he could make a real difference if he would speak out and speak frankly since he's a Republican. Not a namby-pamby "I'm not voting for him" but a real strong "Don't YOU vote for him either, he's crazy". He's an off the cuff, says what he thinks kinda guy. He's not planning to run for elected office as far as I know. This is the same guy who said "That's some crazy shit right there" after Scrotus inaugural address. What is he so afraid of? The party can't touch him.
Obama speaking out won't have an effect on the 'undecideds' in the GOP/Independent-Right category. We need some notable GOP figures to speak plainly.
And does anyone think for a hot minute that Scrotus will observe the same 'Code of Silence' about his successor (or any other POTUS) once he's out of office? Not bloody likely!
And I agree Jaichange , the lack of party unity was also a major contributing factor in 2016. And Sanders' silence now is infuriating. He should be making loud and clear (and frequent) statements to the remaining 'Bernie Bros' and 'Sanders Sisters' that he wants them to STOP with the Biden bashing and that the best way to 'support' Sanders is to elect Biden so he and Sanders can work together to advance the Cause.
