That remark about Mr Floyd is beyond contempt

I agree. I couldn't believe that even Trump could be that callous.

AcrossthePond55 · 06/06/2020 13:23

They don't want the press reporting on either the protests or the police brutality they're using to quell them.

I'm beginning to fear we've crossed the Rubicon.

I hope not but it is hard to ignore so many signs.

AcrossthePond55 · 06/06/2020 23:13

I'm beginning to be skeptical of any reports of 'doom for GOP' or 'massive Trump loss 2020'. I hate to be so suspicious but I worry that they are a ploy/campaign to encourage overconfidence or apathy in right 'left'-minded voters. IMO It's what did us in in 2016.

AcrossthePond55 · 06/06/2020 23:14

I'm especially skeptical when the source is Fox News.

I agree to a certain extent, Across, but I feel strongly that the Dems lost in 2016 not only through their complacency but also because of their constant in-fighting, where Sanders supporters could not or would not bring themselves to vote for Hillary Clinton for idealogical reasons. I fear history is going to repeat itself this year, too. From what I can see on Twitter, Sanders' supporters are still aggressively anti-Biden and are busy putting their ideology ahead of the most important thing this November, which is to get rid of Trump come what may. Once Dems are safely in power, then they can get on with the ideological in-fighting whilst repairing the damage Trump has done to the entire USA (and hopefully come up with someone under 50 to unite their party, as well).

Retired Gen. Colin Powell is backing @JoeBiden for president. Powell joins a growing number of Republicans and military leaders who are denouncing Trump’s divisive and failed leadership.

I'm old enough to remember when Powell was touted as the man who would become the first African-American president because of his military background and Republicanism.

Interesting to think how those pundits and the political analysts were unable back then to imagine someone like Obama winning.

There are always surprises.

He could end up biding for. 2024.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 07/06/2020 16:24

Powell is older than Biden so his time has probably passed. However, (apparently) even though he wasn't on the ticket he got some electoral votes in 2016.
He also said in 2016 that he would vote for Hillary - so not a surprise that he's not a Trump-kinda-guy.
