One rule for politicians and another for the plebs?

I believe op see this in daily mail as I read this earlier as soon as I read story I thought straight away how I'm sure Ireland were allowed to meet up to groups 4 , I never bothered reading rest of story , unless they never social distanced one picture he did look close to someone but I assumed that one was his partner , but this sums the press up to me at the moment I think they are pretty awful

Yearcat13 · 25/05/2020 22:44

Exsuse typos, phone.

Homescar · 25/05/2020 22:44

Gosh, @Grilledaubergines, it must be terrible to be so unsure of your self that having misinformation corrected by an Irish person feels like an axe laid to the roots of your identity. Hmm

@Xenia, I always find your contributions a hilarious mishmash of delusion and fantasy. You seldom disappoint.

strugglingwithdeciding · 25/05/2020 22:48

And I must live in wrong part of England as round here if the sun even shows a glimpse half the men start walking around without tops off in park

maresydoats · 25/05/2020 22:48

The bots failed this time. Woo hoo.

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2020 22:52

Get your umbrella out @Grilledaubergines I feel some mud may be heading your way shortly.

Joolsin · 25/05/2020 23:01

@Grilledaubergines - the only mud flinging in this instance was from the UK "newspaper" against the Irish Taoiseach. Irish mnetters merely clarified the current lockdown conditions here which prove the complete untruthfulness of the article.

serenada · 25/05/2020 23:03

@EmeraldShamrock

Glad it wasn't any of his predecessor's naked top half on display.

Who did you have in mind?

Enda. Socks and sandles man if ever there was one.
Bertie. Deckchair, rolled up trousers to knee and knotted hankie on head.
Michael Martin. Buttoned up, sweating profusely, with full suit and tie on. All day.
Mary Hanafin. On a picnic blanket reading Ullysses with a copy of a Marian Keyes novel hidden inside.

Think we got off lightly with Leo the boyo.

**I know Hanafin wasn't Taoiseach, I just couldn't resist.

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2020 23:04

@sawollya I had forgotten all about the portraits (kind of wish you hadn't reminded me!).

Don't have nightmares.

buckeejit · 25/05/2020 23:15

I knew when I clicked on this thread that Leo wouldn't be in the wrong. I knew it because he is credible. I wish Boris was half the man he is. Leo put himself back in the frontline to help people. Boris? Jaysus. I'm from the North & would love Leo to be in charge over all this. I trust him more than anyone else between here & New Zealand

serenada · 25/05/2020 23:19

I don't think Leo could do anything wrong, now - that's the thing.

He did that speech when everyone (internationally!) needed to hear those words. He delivered it so well. And then took on working shifts in a hospital/triaging.

The man absolutely carried his role when he needed to. Fair play to him.

EmeraldShamrock · 25/05/2020 23:22

Think we got off lightly with Leo the boyo Oh yes definitely he's the only one who'd get away with it. His partner is very nice. Wink

Toybox88 · 25/05/2020 23:25

Leo didn't break any rules OP. You should read the Phase One guidelines.

7Days · 25/05/2020 23:25

serenada wickedly accurate. I can just see them!

Heygirlheyboy · 25/05/2020 23:30

Yes Miaows I was going to say 'Scarleh for yer ma for havin ya' too Grin Perfectly apt!

Defensive for correcting an ignorant incorrect poster Hmm

MrsOfBebbanburg · 25/05/2020 23:31

Christ OP, you’re brave to criticise an Irish person on here. They get very defensive and can’t help but mud fling at anyone from the U.K.

Ahhh are you missing your sport now that it gets rightly stomped on every time one of your goady mates tries to start up a game? Hmm

sawollya · 25/05/2020 23:42

Oh @JaneJeffer just before bed time!

strugglingwithdeciding · 25/05/2020 23:45

Prob being a bit hard on op blame the mail for running the story

maresydoats · 25/05/2020 23:48

Biffo of the boob pic is not very well now. I understand he had a massive stroke/haemmorage and is in a very slow recovery now. That was more than a year ago now I think.

But that pic of him is something else. Sorry.

AngelaScandal · 25/05/2020 23:50

I think the pic is unkind. Particularly given how unwell he is at the moment.

AngelaScandal · 25/05/2020 23:51

(Sorry Jane)

pallisers · 25/05/2020 23:53

I KNOW. The yanks are just the same. Terrible when people don't know their place and have the temerity to talk back.

JacobReesMogadishu · 25/05/2020 23:55

Also feel a bit sorry for the OP. Daily mail ran a story saying it was reported that he had been closer than 2m to his 2 friends. Personally I thought it was a load of shit and bad camera angles.

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2020 00:02

Oh I didn't know he was poorly Bosco. In my defence I didn't paint it!

maresydoats · 26/05/2020 00:05

Ah Jacob,

That is the whole point of the Mail. To foment division. Feck them.

Irish people are highly educated and know the score. Must be the superior education system in Ireland and the respect that Irish teachers are given compared to UK.... or something.

I've been reading some threads about kids going back to school and was honestly so shocked at the attitude towards teachers in UK. Shakes head.
