The MP for Delyn is a Tory. I suspect it might not be Tory next time.
Admittedly, you can't blame the MP when he wasn't there.

What a harrowing story from the Birmingham Mail - there are so many stories but this is one of the most upsetting, and that is why people are so very angry, and not an ounce of contrition from either Cummings or Johnson.

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 23:44

I just need to bring this poll up

Voting Intention: Con 44%, Lab 38% (YouGov)

I know...but it's quite a change from before. The Conservatives under Johnson are starting to eat themselves.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 26/05/2020 23:46

@Helenadove That was the first thing that came to my mind too. Sobering thought

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 23:46

Most lawyers on Twitter think it’s straightforward that he broke the law with his Barnard Castle trip and that the initial trip north is a highly debatable poi

I think the Attorney General could be in the firing line after her tweet.

Extracurricularfatigue · 26/05/2020 23:47

I bloody hope so. What she did was outrageous and I’d sack her before Cummings.

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 23:47

state given what happened weeks back

What happened?

Peregrina · 26/05/2020 23:49

The Attorney General is in a bit of a cleft stick - she won't want to see Cummings prosecuted, but if there is found to have been an offence committed and she doesn't, she will look blatantly partisan, and confirm that there is one law for them and another for the rest of us.

Our council have tweeted that our area is one of 11 areas to pilot the test and trace system.
Does anyone know what they mean by test? Test everyone in the area or test people with symptoms and immediate family?
Don't know how I feel about this as our area always gets 'randomly' picked for shit things. Our area was the first area for universal credit.

merrymouse · 26/05/2020 23:59

and not an ounce of contrition from either Cummings or Johnson.

I could forgive an anxious and stressed parent messing up, accidentally breaking the rules and apologising. There but for the grace of God etc.

I can't forgive the way the deliberate gaslighting of grieving families.

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 00:00

Cho well if she ever gets back to me I'll let you know if she defends her stance or is willing to change her mind!

Hmm, do we think it bothers them to confirm that? It's fairly obvious!

Is Suella Braverman the Attorney General? She will surely just do what BJ wants - that's why she got the job along with her Brexiter credentials.

My mum: “Are you going to be doing more stuff defending Cummings”. Me: “Yes”. My mum: “Then you’re an idiot”. So that’s going well then

For those that dont know His mum is Glenda Jackson.

Alsohuman · 27/05/2020 00:24

I didn’t realise that when I was thinking what a tit he was yesterday.

HeIenaDove · 27/05/2020 00:25

@Cherryghost its because of things like that that i got a chill when i saw that Mail headline.

Probably true but appalling, as the Attorney General is meant to give the Cabinet independent legal advice and is the head of the Crown Prosecution Service. The last government spent a huge amount of time and energy telling us how confidential the AG’s advice is when it was what Geoffrey Cox thought of various Brexit options, buy now we can just all read it on Twitter! Not to mention the utter impropriety of announcing no crime had been committed when there is an ongoing police investigation and lawyers falling over themselves to say that Cummings own statement on Monday is evidence that he did break the law.

She is meant to stand up for the rule of law in the Cabinet, and stand up to cabinet colleagues in pursuit of that. No wonder lawyers are horrified by her behaviour.

A mothers open letter to DC after her son dies during lockdown.

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 06:29

Yes the Attorny general is Suella. She's my MP. She's a real career person. What's the most annoying is she is actually very proactive and very good securing some things.
But her complete downside is having her head so far up her leaders arse she very often misses the mood of her people and overlooks that she works for all her constituents and not just the ones who agree with her!

StealthPolarBear · 27/05/2020 07:24

I rather suspect that, if he was ill at all, it was never as bad as they suggest; that they realised just before his press conference that the truth on this one was going to come out, and he was late because they were hastily cobbling together a story to explain the fact that he made this journey."

But we've already had doggo story, way before everything kicked off

Extracurricularfatigue · 27/05/2020 08:10

@HelenaDove you do rather confirm my lasting suspicions that almost no one reads a word I write on here. Can’t really blame you all as it’s mostly pish but keeps my posting down.

We are about to hit the worst economic crisis in living memory
We are about to hit the worst economic crisis in living memory
We are about to hit the worst economic crisis in living memory
We are about to hit the worst economic crisis in living memory

But hey ho why should our MPs be concerned about that when they could be getting more chance of clawing up the greasy pole of power by getting rid of DC

He may not be likeable but he is clever - and that's what we need now
Not simpering dimwit mps point scoring --- we are heading for a MAJOR crisis , you wouldn't think so, forget DC , where are you going to earn money after this, which 0% interest bank are you going to put your savings in, where are the taxes going to come from to pay for the NHS and disability benefits. ??? Where will you live when the house values drop and you can't pay the mortgage.
Ask your useless MPs about that!

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 27/05/2020 08:24

Can someone explain if the wife had Corona symptoms or not? As Gove said yesterday that she didn't, hence DC ok to return to DS on the first day (before he drove to Durham) . But if she didnt have Covid why couldn't she look after her own child?

So many holes, lies and bullshit

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 08:31

She was sick and felt dizzy. So he ran home. No coughs or fever so assumed not covid to he returned to DS.
Then he went home.

Then decided at some point during that time that as he was very likely to get covid and Mary may or may not get it and may or may not have it he would pack up and drive to Durham in case they did or didn't get it and possibly required childcare.

So I don't think even they knew what they thought! So no chance of any of us knowing!

Notonthestairs · 27/05/2020 08:34

@EdwinaMay I'm not buying the DC is the only person that can save us arguments - I'd like to think as a nation we have sufficient intelligent and principled people to staff a government.

And the unedifying sight of the cabinet rallying around a liar does not lend itself to my trusting them during or post pandemic. I know who the simpering dimwits are thank you.
