I did however comment on the incredible foresight on his full fuel tank (pen dipped in polite sarcasm)

BackInTime · 26/05/2020 21:02

My worry is if he goes, he won't actually go but just hide shadows still supporting Boris influencing policy and pushing his agenda.

With no access to No 10, the cabinet or the civil service he’d have his political balls cut off. That’s why Johnson is clinging on so tight.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 21:06

Except - surprise, surprise - he was lying. He was photographed with a pair of specs about four years ago.

Perhaps he had laser eye surgery 3 years ago and now his eyes have deteriorated?

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 21:09

I thought he said for 6 years? But I may not have heard correctly. He was pissing me off so I was half tuned in and half tuned out.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 21:11

Sorry I don't know - I've been out.

Alsohuman · 26/05/2020 21:16

Yeah. Maybe.

Peregrina · 26/05/2020 21:18

I hate to have to agree with Clavinova but I thought the same about his eyesight. I also have a feeling that the stress of illness can cause a deterioration, and we just don't know what the long term effects of Covid-19 will be. Some diseases like malaria and glandular fever seem to hang around in the body and flare up again.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 21:19

And to be fair to Boris. He didn't say it's a symptom. He said he thought it did affect eyes and their had been reports of it affecting eyes. And that he personally has struggled since his covid.

It was a very tenuous comment and link to defend Cummings. But it is different to saying it's a symptom.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 21:19

And wtf does my iPad keep autocorrecting my there's to the wrong one Grin

YouTheCat · 26/05/2020 21:21

Out? Out? Here we all are, locked down and drinking tea and you've been out? Grin

YouTheCat · 26/05/2020 21:22

But didn't Cummings say he didn't even have the virus?

Peregrina · 26/05/2020 21:24

So will we see Boris haring up to Barnard Castle just to see whether it improves his eyesight?

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 21:25

Out? Out?

Yes!

YouTheCat · 26/05/2020 21:28

You lucky bugger!

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 21:31

No he had it. He went down with it the morning after they arrived in Durham. So arrived midnight ish on 27th. Started symptoms 28th.

Tbh I do think he had it. In fact he'd have to be one lucky git to have avoided it when everyone around him had it!

The80sweregreat · 26/05/2020 21:31

I know I said the press should leave him be with the harassment ( which I stand by ) it is still true that the story is getting bigger as to regards what actually went on. It's very very muddled but that might just me me being dim.
I can't believe that the more intelligent ones in the government are not seeing through it : they are obviously just hoping it goes away / toeing the line and keeping the fingers crossed etc.
Another thing that struck me when I heard the various statements about his movements was how little childcare the poor boy actually got what with all the driving about and dad 'testing his eye sight ' and in and out of cars visiting beauty spots and so on ! Children become fractious very easily : he must be a good kid and I'm not being sarcastic!

I feel sorry for him as his the innocent victim here really and being used as an excuse for parents who really only went up there to get out of London ( which is the conclusion I've come to , for what it's worth and it had to be justified so hence all this)
Plus the obvious ' embellishing 'of the truth was probably dreamed up by Boris! Used to pulling the wool over the years he probably said ' just say this , they might buy it' to plug some holes in the narrative!
Who knows really but it's caused havoc!

JamieLeeCurtains · 26/05/2020 21:37

I think they just got the fuck out of London. I think MW was worried, got DC to drive them up, they never had Covid, and she spun her story via the Spectator to cover their tracks, and they got rumbled because DC is so recognisable.

The rest, as they say, is hysteria.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 21:40

I did laugh to myself earlier. I realised in his beanie DC looks a bit like where's wally. And now he's being hunted all over Durham and chilinghan to see if we can spot where he is.

There has to a be Twitter cartoon coming on this soon?

ListeningQuietly · 26/05/2020 21:47

We need to move on
I will move on when

  • the Russia report is published
  • the full background papers to the abuse of the Brexit referendum are published
  • the UK electoral roll process is updates
  • the UK electoral advert process is updated
and when Dom is barred from EVER holding a UK government security pass / clearance of any kind

He is a nihilist anarchist
he just wants to break the system
he does not give a shit what is built out of the pieces
people like him have NO place in our government

but sadly the Prime Minister is weak lazy and stupid

The80sweregreat · 26/05/2020 21:48

He has a distinctive style it's true!

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 26/05/2020 21:50

ah, the famous Russian squirrel! agree with you ListeningQuietly

Davespecifico · 26/05/2020 21:51

Will we be better off under Cummings and Johnson, or Gove and whoever?

The80sweregreat · 26/05/2020 21:55

At least the press can keep on eye on these two I suppose!
Getting shot of either of them has the potential to backfire too! Might get Michael Gove and he isn't much better : just more polished at it!

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 22:07

I may be being thick. But why does Johnson going mean we get Gove? Surely we vote in who takes over?
