OFGS.

Paul Mason has put together a timeline around Cummings editing the blog post. Extract below, but Mason gives more and links to sources.

Why did Cummings edit his own blog on 14/4/20 to make it look like he had warned about the danger of a coronavirus escaping from a Chinese lab last year? 1/ The date of the change is one day before Fox News took the “Chinese Lab” story mainstream...

2/ The "Chinese lab" theory takes two forms: a) the loon-theory that the virus is a bio-weapon and was deliberately released; b) that it is a natural virus that accidentally escaped from an unsafe lab - what Cummings had warned about (in a more general way) in March 2019…

3/ The Republican senator who first went public with the Chinese lab accusations is Tom Cotton. Tom Cotton was one of the first users of Cambridge Analytica's Facebook data, in 2014...

4/ Cotton has been banging on about the Lab theory since February, but on 15 April - one day after Cummings alters his blog - both CNN and Fox run stories quoting US govt officials saying the theory is right...

5/ And on 18 April Trump repeats the claim, and on 21 April Cotton writes a WSJ op-ed outlining the claim in detail...

6/ So for the Bannon-Cotton-Cummings international network, 14-21 April is "Chinese Lab theory week". But the UK government has repeatedly said it "does not recognise the claims" that the virus came from the Wuhan Lab...

Did anyone see Gavin Williamson yesterday, trying to deflect the questions around DC? It was even more shambolic that Shapps. HOW have we ended up with these muppets in govt.

I do notice Raab and Patel have kept their heads down this weekend. I bet they have just said a form NO to any press conferences.

Any politician who has been dragged in to defend the indefensible is going to look a fool. Now and for posterity.

The interview with Gove today was actually comedy gold.,But I always find his interviews quite funny anyway. He’s bumbling on and apparently, his daughter, is quite “known” these days on TikTok. My kids showed me. She’s going was going on about drugs and then someone exposed her for being MG’s daughter! She looks nothing like him whatsoever.

solieltoday · 26/05/2020 16:32

Apparently Matt Hancock has drawn the short straw for today’s briefing.

SansaSnark · 26/05/2020 16:33

Aren't there rumours about Gove doing coke at uni?

So maybe he doesn't mind his daughter doing it too?

I haven't read Dominic Cumming's blog - I only know that this article was written about him in early March before he edited his blog in April.

Perhaps you should read it, Clavinova.

Perhaps you should also explain to me why he edited it a year later.

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 16:35

That will be good for Pointless

The80sweregreat · 26/05/2020 16:38

Matt the pale one!

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 16:40

Sansa I'm sure loads of people did drugs at college or uni. Perfectly respectable people. In fact I thought it was usually the more elected who did coke as it was expensive? I have no idea because I wasn't one of those people.

But yes, you may be right that he doesn't mind because it's normal socially in certain circles?

PerkingFaintly · 26/05/2020 16:41

BTW, the nestia.com you keep linking to is a Singapore real estate and listings website, describing itself as a "One-stop lifestyle app dedicated to making life in Singapore a breeze!", which also aggregates news feeds.

I'm cautious about clicking further on your rather dubious link.

Would you care to give us the article the nestia site actually links to? A name, URL or screenshot of the publication would do.

Perhaps you should read it, Clavinova.

Not keen, but I might.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 16:50

I see that Labour MP Clive Lewis went with -

"How interesting:“On 12 April Dominic Cummings was seen in Castle Barnard during lockdown. Two days later, GlaxoSmithKline of Barnard Castle signed an agreement to develop and manufacture a Covid-19 vaccine with Sanofi of France."

"Of course, that could be coincidence.”

His top reply is -

"Please consider taking this down. This is a conspiracy theory and you are an MP."

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 16:52

I'm no supporter of those at the top right now but that's probably the best advice and most sensible thing suggested in a while!

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 16:53

BTW, the nestia.com you keep linking to is a Singapore real estate and listings website, describing itself as a "One-stop lifestyle app dedicated to making life in Singapore a breeze!",

Oh dear!

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 16:53

To remove it that is. I'm not sure mixing up the current facts and questions how they are in the spirit of the guidance is the best cocktail.

If people think there's a link then find evidence and then post!

The80sweregreat · 26/05/2020 16:56

The link to a possible vaccine and his trip out to 'test his eye sight ' was rumbling around on the daily mail comments section a few days back. I've not heard anyone else mention it.
It's probably more fakery.

Alsohuman · 26/05/2020 17:04

Apparently 33 Tory MPs are now asking for Cummings’ resignation/sacking because their constituents are outraged. It’s not going away, is it?

MaxNormal · 26/05/2020 17:04

I know that I'm quite a bit younger than you - perhaps I only know men who like driving cars with powerful engines!

What does this mean, can you elaborate?
On a side note, I'm surprised to hear you self- describe as young, I'd pictured you as Andrea Leadsome.

Wonder if Hancock will dare to say he won't answer Q's about Barney Castle?

Alsohuman · 26/05/2020 17:15

Waiting eagerly for the questions to start.

caringcarer · 26/05/2020 17:18

Let's face it, he is not popular in parliament. He seems to have no friends. That does not surprise me. He went to Durham to get childcare help as his sister offered to get shopping and drop him off meals. He stayed in a remote farmhouse that was empty. I am fed up of hearing about him. I don't care whether he stays or goes. We need to move on.

If Bercow can survive the bullying saga then anything is possible.

He is effective at his job, which was Boris leadership of Tory party, then PM campagne.

FliesandPies · 26/05/2020 17:18

talking gobbledygook shite

Alsohuman · 26/05/2020 17:22

Loving this. All the questions are about Cummings.
