Clav. It's never been added as an official symptom in England. They only added loss of taste and smell a week or so ago.
I had suspected covid 21/3. Except I think I had it for days before this but there was no smell thing about then. I had a tight chest (like really odd, burning and getting breathless easily) and no sense of smell for 5 days. I have hay fever. I assumed it was just really bad this year. Then I got really sore eyes. Again thought hay fever. Then day 6 my temp shot up to 38.5° on paracetamol. I struggled for breath for 3 days. Like really had to focus on breathing. I lost my appetite but was so thirsty I was drink 10lt a day. I realised at this point I couldn't taste. My sats were 93%.
I had had a loose tum (but not diorreah) for 2/3 days the first 2/3 days when my chest felt tight. But just thought I'd been accidentally glutened!

I actually feel quite guilty that I may have been walking around with covid for 5/6 days without knowing as I didn't have the typical symptoms which have now been published. The minute I had a temp I was in for 7 days. Well 14 as ds had to isolate that long!

Mark Harper's statement (Sorry I cant lions to it buts very interesting) makes it clear that he doesn't think there is any justification for the Barnard Castle trio and that DC should resign.

Mark Harper was chief whip.

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 15:23

I feel for @Clavinova The other person who I would fully expect to be in support has made a fleeting appearance on this thread and then gone.

Notonthestairs · 26/05/2020 15:23

Link not lions!

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 15:23

We know that the boy had a coronavirus test

That was in answer to -
"We also don't know if they told hospital about his suspected covid, her symptoms and the timeline."

I assume they did tell the hospital which is why they carried out the test - although of course, DC's suspected covid would have been public knowledge by then as well.

PotholeParadise · 26/05/2020 15:23

He is quoted as saying, “I could barely stand up" - he says he didn't get out of the car.

It's a good thing the roads were pretty quiet during this timeframe. I don't suppose anyone in Durham noticed any new dents in the street furniture near the hospital?

Are the events of this trip why it was so important he needed to check his driving on the roads to Barnard Castle?

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 15:24

Clav but we don't know they gave him a test because of what they said or because he was admitted to hospital and that was protocol.
And I was actually standing up for them at that point and saying we can't say they infected anyone as we can't know what they did and said to paramedics and ambulance staff. It doesn't help you when you are arguing with people who are typing things that take your stance!

PotholeParadise · 26/05/2020 15:26

It's Grant Shapps I feel for. Desperate to talk about the A66 and trams - and Dominic Cummings hadn't bothered to speak to him at all about what happened.

I think he was put on TV far too early. Think what we could ask him now with all these new transport-related questions about Dominic.

FliesandPies · 26/05/2020 15:27

@SansaSnark yet another sign of the lack of thinking from Barney big-brain to think he could get away with doing that

SophieB100 · 26/05/2020 15:27

Radio 5Live were discussing the blog lunchtime.
Commenting that the added bit (in April) was the only reference anywhere to Coronovirus.
How strange, they all mused...

Correct - we can't say they infected anyone.

That's not the point though.

The point is that we were asked to stay at home - and not to travel. One of the reasons was that you could get ill elsewhere, go to hospital and infect other people.

They went elsewhere. The son got ill (not Covid) and people who could have been infected went to Durham hospital.

Luckily the son was negative. It's unclear about his wife - the timeline looks interesting.

But the point is that 2 people, who were self isolating with someone with Covid 19, went to a hospital that was not their local London one.

@FliesandPies He probably is reasonably clever, and can outsmart a lot of people one on one. I imagine a lot of the people around Westminster are less tech savvy than him too.

The problem for him is that now he's got a lot of twitter after him, and he's trying to outsmart them all at once- so it's very easy for them to find things out.

Like:
-His wife can drive.
-He edited his blog.
-His sister is on the board for IDOX who have the contract for the (late) track and trace app.
-One of the companies with a contract for producing a vaccine has head offices in Barnard Castle.

I think there's another much more plausible narrative here.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 15:32

Yes, I agree that's a difficult letter for Boris Johnson to ignore.

Of course, what do we do, if in a week's time another well known politician on either side of the HOC is found to have broken the lockdown rules? If it's Keir Starmer, Michael Gove? Will they all have to resign their positions and return to the backbenches?

PaneerOfEvil · 26/05/2020 15:33

So sorry @Clavinova I missed your reply. Will ask for my post to be removed.

Peregrina · 26/05/2020 15:34

We don't know if the Cummings on the IDOX board is related. Mind you, if she's no relation it would be a good idea of her to say so.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 15:35

Don't get me wrong Cho I think he's a sack of lying shit and should resign or be sacked. I'm just someone who won't add stuff as fact if it isn't. I question the timeline and her being allowed in with him. Because I'm sure at that time you couldn't enter hospital with covid symptoms with children. But maybe that wasn't the rule. Maybe it was local and trust policy? But the 13yo died alone, we were told, because his mum was having to self isolate.

What I want is the facts around this. Then I will judge away Grin

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 15:37

Yes, we need to be careful not to drag Alice into it. There's possibly enough victims going down in this without dragging in an innocent member of the Lublin who just happens to be unfortunate to share his surname.

Plus, i do think if that's true the press would have been all over it by now.

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 15:39

If anyone has flouted the rules that we have all stuck to, then yes.

I think that now - things have become a bit more relaxed. If someone is 1.9m away from a friend in a park, then I am not going to get excited about that.

But the rules on self isolation, unnecessary travel and the clear message - "Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives" - crystal clear. We all knew them and we stuck to them under the most trying circumstances.

And that's what isn't being understood

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 15:41

'm just someone who won't add stuff as fact if it isn't. I question the timeline and her being allowed in with hi

The fact is that they went to a hospital that was not their usual local one in London.

They were self isolating with a person who had Covid 19.

Those 2 facts alone are damning enough - potential spread of the virus out of London.

The80sweregreat · 26/05/2020 15:44

Poor old Grant Shapps was thrown under a bus twice on the weekend.
I did feel a bit sorry for him : he loves trains and roads. Please talk about that! They said no way.
Boris clearly isn't keen on him.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 15:45

His sister is on the board for IDOX

Surely not his sister (sister-in-law perhaps) - she attended a private day school in London and he went to school in Durham.

His wife can drive.

I would be most put out if my dh declared himself unfit to drive and I had to drive his car from Durham to London. I do the driving in town on a Saturday instead - he hates the scramble for parking.

He edited his blog.
And yet I have already linked to some evidence that he had written similar blogs - written before he altered the section we have been shown.

TruthTwisters · 26/05/2020 15:48

In our house Grant Shapps has been re-named Grant Misshaps 😂

Janus · 26/05/2020 15:48

I do think you’d do the drive if you felt your husband was unsafe to drive though wouldn’t you? Rather than test that theory with your child in the car?!

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 15:49

Clav I admire your retorts to all points. But I'm not even sure you could pull off "we took an unessential journey to test my eyesight my Lord because my wife was most put out she may have to drive my car" Grin
