IloveParmaViolets - Ha ha, that's brilliant!!

Hadenoughfornow · 26/05/2020 11:56

I thought Cummings had got away with it.

And his supporters were trying to turn it into Brexit / Remainer fight.

But more and more Tory MPs are voicing their view that he should resign. I think the public have done their job and done it well. I know we wrote to our local Tory MP this weekend.

C0RA · 26/05/2020 12:02

Does anyone else suspect Alice is just Dom's alter ego?

Alice is a 56 year old chartered accountant, a professional known for pzazz and flamboyance . So yes, probably the first choice of alter ego for 49 year old Dominic.

ShinyFootball · 26/05/2020 12:11

Just catching up and this has shocked me, when I thought I couldn't be more shocked

'The thing I picked up on was his statement that he knew there was a possibility of a pandemic a while back!

It's been widely reported on Twitter that super-forecaster Cummings retrospectively doctored his blog to add references to coronaviruses.

When did he do this? Why, looks like it was the very day he got back to London from the family trip to Durham, according to the link below:

twitter.com/jwiechers/status/1264953956758884354?s=21

Funny, eh?'

Adding references to coronavirus in the blog about China labs accidentally releasing viruses! FUCKING HELL.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 12:12

But more and more Tory MPs are voicing their view that he should resign.

There are quite a few now.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 12:14

We need to be careful about this Alice. It's not fair to drag someone into the public eye who is innocent.

This is about Cummings and his actions.

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 12:15

That's one way to super forecast things....

He obviously thought he did meet the requirements - he says his wife was worried.

Yup, blame it on the little woman. He obviouly realised that one might not fly.

PerkingFaintly · 26/05/2020 12:22

I agree strongly.

In fact she is slightly "in the public eye", due to being a director of a company, and is rightly subject to public scrutiny with respect to that, exactly the same as all other directors of companies. That's why the register at Companies House exists.

But that's all she's subject to scrutiny for. She's not responsible for the actions of Dominic Cummings and shouldn't be dragged into his lockdown busting (unless she proved to be involved, but I don't see a good reason to suspect that).

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 12:23

Page source never lies

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 12:26

We need to be careful about this Alice.

Yes - I thought I'd found a marriage connection - I didn't specify a location - only one result came up - in Durham!! Then I looked at the date - 1897. Grin

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 12:32

Looks like the new excuse for Barnard Castle is exercise.

I am sure people can remember all the discussion about exercise - and how we could drive for exercise as long as the exercise was much longer than the drive.

Also. Sitting by the river...exercise?

Alsohuman · 26/05/2020 12:35

Johnson still has ample time to turn the Polls round

Does he? How many MPs with inboxes full of their constituents’ furious protests about this would back him in a no confidence vote? If he carries on like this that’s a real possibility.

IloveParmaViolets · 26/05/2020 12:36

@xxyzz you just couldn't make it up, could you?!!

Dominic Cummings is the modern day Rasputin and we all know what happened to him at the end after he over reached himself.

Violetparis · 26/05/2020 12:37

The more we see of the ridiculous attempts to protect Dominic Cummings the more damaging this is for Boris and the government.

Notonthestairs · 26/05/2020 12:44

MPs rejecting Dominic Cummings explanation

-Douglas Ross

Taken from Sam Coates recent tweet. Lefties the lot of them!

ChicCroissant · 26/05/2020 12:44

I thought his wife's birthday was later in the month, closer to his mother's but I could be wrong. It is looking more and more like he visited his second home (if he owns half the farm as reported).

I said on another thread that I'd emailed my MP and had a response. My MP thinks DC should go and didn't hesitate to say so either.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 12:45

Agree violet

People are splitting hairs now. I even agree there is probably a bit of a witch hunt. By by the British public as much, or if not more than the media.

But they are making it so easy with the ridiculous and ever changing excuses for what he did.

The media have sat on this for weeks.

Kinnock broke the rules. He apologised. Plenty of people called for him to explain himself or resign. But it went away. He held his hands up to being a twat and held onto his questionable (but at least within the actual guidance) excuse.

Cummings has every chance of doing this. But him and Bozo think he's above all that. As he's tried to rise higher people have climbed up after him.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 12:47

Chic mine hasn't replied to me. She defended Cummings and will continue to do so. However, if it turns out he's broken the law at any point she's on dodgy ground as the Attorney General.

Clavinova · 26/05/2020 12:48

Johnson still has ample time to turn the Polls round

Quickly looking at that poll - I can see that the government have a better net approval rating than premiership football clubs at this time, and that Rishi Sunak has an individual rating of 20%, whereas Keir Starmer's rating is only 12%.

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 12:49

Did I imagine that Gove has now said he's also driven in the past to test his eyesight. Why would he think that would help?

Notonthestairs · 26/05/2020 12:50

Now adding

  • Caroline Noakes
  • Damian Collins
  • Philip Davies
NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 26/05/2020 12:52

Dont agree with a witch hunt at all. But if these who make the rules break them, then arrogantly argue that they were.the exception, a witch hunt is kind of going to be inevitable. Thw public have no voice other to protest. And many many people doing so may make it look like a witch hunt.

In reality what people want is.for hm to be subject to the same rules that we naively and painstakingly followed.
