It was never about the bug.
The main factory for GSK is in....Barnard Castle
The very lucrative deal for vaccine production was signed two days later.....with GSK.

It’s all about the money and was government sanctioned. The rest is a red herring.

DCs speech :

So his wife was vomiting without cough or temp.
Covid?

Lots of us have been sick while caring for a young child and relied on CBeebies and SOS's fir spouse to come home.

Lots of us don't have family near by - my own are much further away than durham.

Jumping in a car with a sick parent? For hours?

Friends or our nanny - yes we were lucky but absence of any family were a reason we had a nanny - would have been my SOS.

And re the return trip - can his wife not drive?

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:35

Gove is on TV now trying to justify it.

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 07:35

I don't understand the GSK bit, I mean I do but wouldn't the fact that he was there working have made the trip legitimate? Why does it need to be a secret?

Exactly

“Honour and Integrity” 👀👀👀👀👀🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 26/05/2020 07:37

Working? With covid symptoms? That's not a good look eithet

Humphriescushion · 26/05/2020 07:39

There was nothing exceptional about his circumstances. Many, many people would have had worse circumstances and stayed at home. The only difference is that he thinks he and his family are exceptional and the government are going to back this! Kick in the teeth.

charis · 26/05/2020 07:39

As someone on Twitter suggested, there must be a whiteboard in no. 10 where they've been brainstorming. Imagine all the insane excuses they rejected before deciding this was the best one to go with!

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:39

Police have said not to get in a car to test your eyesight and that it’s an offence to do so.

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:40

To drive while incapacitated visually.

2020notQuiteAsPlanned · 26/05/2020 07:40

Honour - he hasn't caused chaos and hasn't even offered to resign.
But honour and integrity are not concepts that all of us value.

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 07:40

No but there still seems to be some doubt whether they actually had covid symptoms.

2020notQuiteAsPlanned · 26/05/2020 07:42

GSK likely a red herring if wife and child in the car.
Perhaps the grounds at his parents property weren't enough and they wanted somewhere new 🤔
Didn't we all at that time.
Especially if no or tiny garden.

2020notQuiteAsPlanned · 26/05/2020 07:43

They have let this go on for days........

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:45

It is clear he has broken the rules. It could not be clearer. I cannot think of a worse example of a breach of the lockdown rules. For it then to be defended by the government just beggars belief.”
Barton said the rules were clear: that anyone with symptoms of coronavirus should not leave their home.
“What is particularly sad and undermines completely the government position is they seem to be operating in a bubble of self-privilege and denial when they all should be leading by example. ‘Hypocrite’ was invented for these circumstances … Of course it is double standards.”

Durham Police

So now Dominica wife had symptoms but not the virus? He keeps changing his story.
Also Boris has been tested positive and he was in face to face contact with him?
He should have been self isolating because of that?

chomalungma · 26/05/2020 07:46

I wonder why more isn't being made of the trip to Durham hospital.

We were told that we could spread disease. Going to a hospital is one way of spreading disease. Was that a good idea?

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:46

Why on earth did he not get tested when Boris was confirmed with the virus?
I dont believe a word this man says.

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:48

Seems like he’s shot himself in the foot with the wives story for the spectator. Neither of them can deny that they had the virus after she wrote that. Even though that seems to be his new angle.
Ffs

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 07:51

Didn't he explain that testing wasn't available for assistants at the time? Surely it would have been wrong for him to have a test, outside of protocol if it was unavailable to others. Remember, at the time, NHS staff weren't been tested.

larrygrylls · 26/05/2020 07:54

Whoever said this is bullying, it is not.

This is the little people punching well up via a social media thread; we don’t get a press conference from the garden of 10 Downing Street.

I am surprised, personally, that an advisor gets to use the residence of the PM to justify his personal acts, giving it a false sense of being a government statement. To me, this is almost as bad as the act itself. I wonder what the professional civil service advisors make of it?! They sure as hell would not be given this platform. It would be a quiet word, maybe a nice letter, and bye bye.

More substantively, Boris and his whole cabinet have stupidly aligned themselves with Cummings now, making him very hard to sack. However, after the fairytale ‘explanation’ he gave, the pressure on him will only increase. I guess he will have to use the tired old formula of resigning righteously because he has become ‘the story’ and as distraction’.

Incidentally, his child was, apparently, taken by ambulance to hospital but discharged the next day and well enough to be gallivanting and playing around how many days later?

Ulver · 26/05/2020 07:57

Quite a lot of recall and conjecture of details to defend Dominic “inoneminute”
🙄🙄🙄

Getting on this thread

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 07:59

I've done anything but defend him, I've been a fierce critic, check if you wish but on this point, that is exactly what he said. It's not helpful if "we" start making things up.

Aretheystillasleepbob · 26/05/2020 07:59

He must think we're all fuckwits. Drove to test his eyesight with his family in the car?
I can't believe Boris has wasted so much of his own credibility ( which, let's face it, he doesn't have that much of) on this nonsense.
He needs to go, nothing in that press conference excused what he did. It;s one rule for them and one for us.
And what the actually F is a non-elected government adviser doing giving press conferences from no10?? Shows the hold he has over the ( elected) PM.

bellinisurge · 26/05/2020 08:00

Apparently the court of public opinion will be on his side.
Still waiting for any indication that this has started.
