How on earth is that going to go?

The Metro reports that the government has been removing all the online "Stay at Home" adverts today.

Figmentofmyimagination · 25/05/2020 14:51

Who does he think he is?

I despair of all you posters who have roo much time on your hands and can be so ignorant of such a condition

SusieOwl, the fact is, the government changed the law to enable the legal provisions for lockdown and in the process, watered down the rights of disabled adults and children to the health and social care that they need.

This plays right into the Tories' big society ideal whereby we all help each other, but it's only the people with money/second homes and other privileges who can actually fully meet their disabled children's/relative's needs.

DC travelled to the other end of the country to stay in a stand-alone property with family to help him out, possibly now to help his disabled son.

Meanwhile, the rest of us caring for children (and adults) with disabilities have to make do with less state support than before lockdown and, if we get infected, have to stay in our own homes with no support.

BlueBrian · 25/05/2020 14:55

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “We can confirm that, over the last few days, Durham Constabulary has received further information and complaints from members of the public and we are reviewing and examining that information.”

Lets hope this ends up in court, and Cummings gets prosecuted.

Calyx72 · 25/05/2020 14:55

Statement apparently at 4pm (moved from 3pm)

Babdoc · 25/05/2020 14:56

If we bowed to knee jerk demands for resignations after every misdemeanour by a politician, we would have none left.
Sure, he was breaking lockdown rules, in a closed vehicle going to one house.
Here in Scotland, Sturgeon concealed a whole Covid outbreak in Edinburgh and didn’t inform contacts at the same hotel - one of whom went down to Newcastle unaware he was infected, and spread it to the whole north east of England, resulting in deaths. Nobody seems to be calling for her to be sacked. Unfortunately.

LouHotel · 25/05/2020 14:56

I don't like this, all this will do is elevate him to a public leader figure which he fucking isn't.

IHateCoronavirus · 25/05/2020 14:56

I sincerely hope he will not use his DS’s AS to try an absolve him from this. My gorgeous DN (AS) has struggled massively during lockdown. Time spent outside the house, planning visits, planning the details of journeys, etc was very much a coping strategy for him to get through everyday life. His once a day local walk just didn’t cut it. DB and DSil have therefore had to cope with the daily outbursts which have included pulling raidiators off the walls etc.
They did it though for the good of the majority. It will be a massive slap in the face to them to hear him use AS as a valid excuse. If only they would have been told old before DN had to go through all that distress!

NanaRant · 25/05/2020 14:58

I don't think he could do anything more to infuriate the British public....except maybe to use the autism of his son to somehow justify his deplorable actions. If he does that (and I sincerely hope he doesn't) it'll fuel the fire.

Well said @LonginesPrime

Calyx72 · 25/05/2020 14:58

Whataboutery
Also it appears he visited a castle 30miles from Durham and a bluebell wood
Not just one house. Not to mention toilet stops for the possibly autistic child/infected wife/himself while travelling

LonginesPrime · 25/05/2020 14:58

daily outbursts which have included pulling raidiators off the walls

Snap!

(Obviously sucks for both of us...)

Roseburn · 25/05/2020 15:00

wonder if he'll put on a clean t-shirt

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 15:00

Sure, he was breaking lockdown rules

Trouble is those defending him, including BJ, have repeatedly said he hasn't broken the rules. Apparently the rest of us just didn't read the guidance which said these actions were permitted. Gaslighting at it's finest

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 15:00

Babdoc so why don't you highlight NS's failures properly instead of complaining about the totally justified calls for Cummings resignation.

kimlo · 25/05/2020 15:06

@Calyx72
Barnard castle is a town, actually a lovely place.

MashedPotatoBrainz · 25/05/2020 15:10

The level of rage I feel about this is unhealthy and I don't even live in the UK. Who the fuck does he think he is. 'Stop the world I have something to say and have deemed it acceptable to take questions'. Fuck off you vile, arrogant, reptile. Unless it's 'I've just been sacked and the police are prosecuting me' you have nothing to say that we want to hear.

I daren't watch it as I might actually explode.

madroid · 25/05/2020 15:23

@Calyx72 Statement apparently at 4pm (moved from 3pm)

I hope that isn't at the start of the daily briefing.

A civil servant taking over from our elected PM at the forum designed to help us in a pandemic?

That would be quite frightening actually. It would look very much like government has broken down.

92anna · 25/05/2020 15:24

Does anyone know what time it's on?

LouHotel · 25/05/2020 15:25

Benedict Cumberbatch must be gearing up for a sequel after all this.

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 15:27

I hope that isn't at the start of the daily briefing.

Apparently the daily briefing will take place afterwards, but no confirmation on who will attend today.

  1. "I had to escape my house as it had been infected with CV by Labour-activist-neighbours."
LemonyCupcake · 25/05/2020 15:28

@MashedPotatoBrainz I know, I am LIVID about this

Never ever felt so angry about anything I don’t think !

PerkingFaintly · 25/05/2020 15:30
  1. "We should all be breaking the lockdown because it's all a mind control plot by the lizard people anyway."

Statement apparently at 4pm (moved from 3pm)
