It's his 80th. Hes all alone. Me and my son would drive down. Stay in the garden. Drive back. What would you do as they are lifting restrictions next week anyway. No symptoms been following the rules until now. Need an answer quickly thanks

As long as you aren't going into a different country then go and see your dad. If it means crossing borders then be aware you may be fined and make a decision taking that into account. It's so hard for older people who are alone.

I am too jugglingbeans but looking at social media nobody else appears to be.

The very same people that were bleating about "stay the f**k home" are the very same people posting photos of family birthday parties this weekend. They actually think that they are following the rules because they are apparently "social distancing".

I enjoy my own company so lockdown has been easy for me but I'm now finding that the invites to meet up with people are starting to trickle in. I was hoping for a little while longer before I would have to start making excuses again!

"No thanks" is a sufficient answer.

Followed by "Really No thanks, maybe next time"

Followed by "Did you not get it the first two times? I am not ready to start socialising. Thank you, but not for a while".

Followed by "Fuck off wanker"

If you’re going please don’t go to the virus hubs that are service stations before visiting him!
You know the toilet door handles and seats are touched by unwashed hands that then go and touch the touch screen to order their Mac Donald’s? The taps are touched by dirty hands and then you turn them off again recontaminating your hands.

Yes. I'm always bemused at the "no touch flush" in public toilets. You don't have to touch the button that someone who's just wiped their arse has touched; excellent.
But you then have to pull the bolt to get out of the cubicle that that same somebody has also touched Confused. What's the logic there?
All public sinks should be foot pedal operated.

@sodamncold. That isn’t what I said at all. Most people followed the guidelines as they thought it was the right thing to do. Just because I understand people thinking ‘well if DC can go and see his mum, why can’t I?”; doesn’t mean I think they are making the correct decision.

rookiemere · 25/05/2020 15:18

cakeistheonlyanswer if your elderly neighbours DCs are usually in regular contact with her pre covid-19 then please don't judge them. People have been following the guidelines strictly well most regular people and they didn't say you could pay socially distanced visits.

I've just returned from a 2hr round trip to see my elderly parents whom I haven't seen since February as we went skiing and DM didn't want us to come after that as I had a cold. we were delighted to see each other and I wish I'd done it sooner, but at least by waiting until now the chance of passing anything on is very low and it's still against the strict regulations.

Do they have a spare cottage? If so, crack on.
