Do you think you should be dressed for breakfast? i.e. out if bedclothes

YABU = pyjamas are fine!
YANBU = Up and dressed is a must!

Depends in this house, we take it in turns, one of us gets up with DS goes down and makes breakfast and eats with him while the other showers, the first showerer then comes down to have their own breakfast, sort the dishwasher and dress DS while the breakfast maker showers. DS is only 17 months so has a bath in the evening before bed.
Pre DS I was rarely dressed before breakfast other than when I was working away and it's not good form to go to a hotel restaurant with colleagues in your pyjamas.

Still in PJs and dressing gown. The only meal I’m dressed for when not at work is lunch.

Puddlejuice · 25/05/2020 09:21

No way, dc wake up ravenous, it's a race to get them fed and adults coffee's, then the battle of getting dressed begins

ILiveInSalemsLot · 25/05/2020 09:21

We get washed and dressed before we come downstairs for breakfast.
If we don’t, then there’s a risk we’d still be in pjs by dinner.

fassnk · 25/05/2020 09:21

PJ's and dressing gown here. Shower and dress after breakfast.

fandajji · 25/05/2020 09:22

I am always dressed as it feels wrong eating in PJs. I try with my 3 boys but they lack the ability to use a spoon and keep clothes clean at the same time, so it's PJs for them.

My preference is YANBU but my reality is YABU.

Muddlingalongalone · 25/05/2020 09:23

Pyjamas at the weekend, dressed during the week. Half-term TV for the kids but dressed for me coz I'm working.

Epigram · 25/05/2020 09:24

I don't mind either way, so I've voted YABU.

ChangeThePassword · 25/05/2020 09:24

At home? Whatever. Do what suits. It matters not.

At a restaurant /cafe/Hotel? Definitely get dressed.

Cornishmumofone · 25/05/2020 09:25

It's a house rule to get dressed for breakfast otherwise it would be a battle with my 3 year old

Drivingdownthe101 · 25/05/2020 09:26

At home? Not fussed. Never thought about it really. At someone else’s house or in a hotel? Always dressed.

ElectricTonight · 25/05/2020 09:27

The first thing my children say when the open their eyes is "breakfast" so we eat and then we get washed and dressed.

LouiseTrees · 25/05/2020 09:27

I usually get dressed first but I wouldn’t find it unusual to be in PJs either.

DinoGreen · 25/05/2020 09:27

During the week in normal times - dressed (all of us) before we go downstairs for breakfast
Weekends/holidays/lockdown - absolutely not, breakfast in PJs

megletthesecond · 25/05/2020 09:28

PJ's.
It's rare I don't splodge some porridge down me in the morning.
Clothes are the last thing to put on before I go out.

CaveMum · 25/05/2020 09:28

We get up, eat breakfast, then brush teeth and get dressed. Why take the risk of getting food/drink on your clothes and have to change again?

MulberryPeony · 25/05/2020 09:29

How would breakfast in bed work?

maddiemookins16mum · 25/05/2020 09:37

Depends. School/work day dressed, any other day it doesn’t matter. That said, DD was never dressed until after breakfast until about 6 as otherwise there would be porridge etc all over her school unifirm.

KaleJuicer · 25/05/2020 09:38

Pjs fine. Unless guest in someone’s house (and definitely if in a hotel!)

starfishmummy · 25/05/2020 09:40

Washed and dressed before we go downstairs here

Apolloanddaphne · 25/05/2020 09:41

Either in this house. We are all adults here so choose for ourselves. I would say DH mostly dressed, DD mostly pyjama's and I am a mix of both.

DwangelaForever · 25/05/2020 09:42

My kids are maniacs when they eat, if I dressed them for breakfast I'd have to redress them straight after lol especially my 20mo.

Drivingdownthe101 · 25/05/2020 09:42

Toddler DS gets up at 5.15am so no way I’m getting washed and dressed before taking him down!
6 and 4 year olds come down at about 7.30am, they all have their breakfast then upstairs to get washed and dressed.
I don’t eat breakfast until 10ish so am generally dressed.

ScarfLadysBag · 25/05/2020 09:43

PJs! Getting dressed is a post-breakfast (sometimes post-lunch Grin) activity.

What if you are getting changed from overnight PJs into day PJs?

MattBerrysHair · 25/05/2020 09:46

At home, either or, depending on the day. In a hotel, definitely dressed! I always feel uncomfortable if strangers in pj's wander into the dining area of a hotel.
