Do you think you should be dressed for breakfast? i.e. out if bedclothes

YABU = pyjamas are fine!
YANBU = Up and dressed is a must!

If I'm at home I'll still be in pjs while sorting breakfast for the kids. They wouldn't be able to wait for nappy changes, bottles and food until I had had a bath and was dressed.

TrickyWords · 25/05/2020 10:13

Dressed on a work day, otherwise PJs fine.

alphabetspagetti · 25/05/2020 10:15

Pre-DC, it was always dressed then breakfast. Then I had enough of the DC getting breakfast down their clothes so we moved to breakfast then dressed. I'm regretting that in lockdown as there seems to be huge amounts of prevarication and fuss.

Lockdownlooks · 25/05/2020 10:19

I’m not bothered about what other people do except in a hotel - we didn’t have any rule either way. Personally dressed first but I have no children.

Qgardens · 25/05/2020 10:21

Whether it's breakfast or not is irrelevant to me. It's the time spent hanging around in night clothes that is the issue.
If you are downstairs for longer than 20 minutes or so, you should be dressed. My teenage dd drives me bonkers by slobbing around, not dressed properly.

Raella50 · 25/05/2020 10:27

We dress after breakfast because our kids are young and would prefer to dress them after the inevitable porridge stains have taken place! I like to get up before them and do my yoga in the lounge so I’m usually in my yoga pants, then we all eat and upstairs to wash and dress.

Raella50 · 25/05/2020 10:29

Also, if we’re in a hotel we usually just jump out of bed and wear some sort of yoga pants/ smart loungewear down (not pyjamas) and then come back to the room to shower and get dressed properly.

peanutsandcream · 25/05/2020 10:29

I have my shower before breakfast but don't get properly dressed until after breakfast.

Lostinbooksandcoffee · 25/05/2020 10:31

M-F, I get dressed. Weekends, I lounge around a bit more. I get dressed during the week though, as it's easier to get ready in peace while DH deals with the kids.

I get the kids dressed after breakfast as they're mucky (still little)

zingally · 25/05/2020 10:36

It was always the rule when I was growing up, so I've just naturally continued it with my own 2. DH has no preference either way, so just gets dressed as well.

I think the only time we would do breakfast in PJs would be if we'd made a conscious decision to have a PJ day, which we do every couple of months. My kids see PJ day as a treat. :)

WatchingFromTheWings · 25/05/2020 10:38

Sometimes I'm in pj's, sometimes dressed. Sometimes I'm still in pjs,... and in bed!! 😲

userabcname · 25/05/2020 10:40

Yabu. Unless staying over at someone's house or in a hotel or going out for breakfast. At home, where what you like!

SimonJT · 25/05/2020 10:41

We’re only getting dressed to leave the house, I’m in pants, my son is in pjs and my boyfriend is in swimming shorts (for some weird reason).

LittleLeaps · 25/05/2020 10:51

I need my coffee in the morning to be a functional human being - this means my children need breakfast to keep them occupied while I drink said coffee Grin once we are all fed/caffeinated then I can think about clothes. Also it reduces the chances of breakfast being spilt down the clean clothes.

Inoneminute · 25/05/2020 10:53

Yes, unless you're having it in bed.

Bubblemonkey · 25/05/2020 11:29

I sleep starkers. Throw jammys on then get showered after I’ve eaten

PicsInRed · 25/05/2020 11:31

At home, no.

At a hotel, ffs get dressed before you go down. Hmm

ICouldHaveBeenAContender · 25/05/2020 11:31

Assuming at home, then:
If a working day, eat breakfast in dressing gown, in case I end up wearing breakfast;
If not a working day, either or.
Assuming in a hotel: definitely dressed!

Gwenhwyfar · 25/05/2020 11:33

I get dressed whenever I want to.
I'm single though so I can see why you might want to impose some rules if you wanted to give an example for children, but then I'd say dressed by lunch. Breakfast in PJs is quite normal surely. The shower might be busy when you get up or whatever.

RedPanda2 · 25/05/2020 11:33

Pjs then loungewear after breakfast. At the weekend I have a gorgeous lie in though so eat at about 11. Weekdays depends on the day, normally loungwear for work calls thebn sportswear for my run

Ilovecats23 · 25/05/2020 11:34

I have two young DCs and always give them breakfast in their pjs so they don’t get their day clothes filthy before we’ve even done anything! 😂 they also wake up starved apparently so we eat breakfast pretty much straight away!

Laaalaaaa · 25/05/2020 11:35

I’ll still be in my pyjamas for lunch on the odd occasion. Flame me - I really couldn’t care.

terrelontane · 25/05/2020 11:41

My mum always used to have breakfast in bedclothes, but my dad never did. My DH does. I don't. It's always been a bone of contention in our house. I think it's minging, I even have one pair of slippers for the bedroom and bathroom and another pair for the rest of the house.

SquigglePigs · 25/05/2020 12:14

Definitely not dressed at home. DD is up around 5.30 at the mo and I'm definitely not bothering getting dressed that early. Generally not at my DParents or DPIL either but always yes at a hotel. Friends depends on the friends!! Grin

M0mmyneedswine · 25/05/2020 12:36

At home always in pjs for breakfast as I'm more messy than the kids! Hotel or someone elses house dressed first
