New thread to continue previous one, hope you don't mind original OP!

I do have a really good idea of what it is like to be housebound with a severely disabled child. I couldn't even leave the house with my ds on my own as his complex needs were way beyond me and it was dangerous.

ChaToilLeam · 25/05/2020 10:29

The disgust at this transcends all party lines. It truly shows breathtaking arrogance and disregard for what people have gone through in the UK.

Violetparis · 25/05/2020 10:30

So some scientists are on the left and some are on the right, some will be neither just like the general public. My point is that it isn't only those on the left being critical of Cummings/Boris.

Clavinova · 25/05/2020 10:30

How 'lefty' do you need to be to join the Communist Party? Grin
She is described as being one of Boris Johnson's top scientists but she is a member of the rival SAGE group.

TakemetoGreeceplease · 25/05/2020 10:31

Never mind Cummings, I think Boris has to go now. His defence of Cummings will have far more serious consequences than Cummings actions and will ultimately result in more deaths, totally unacceptable. I hope he's gone by the end of the week, he is not fit to be prime minister, he can barely string a sentence together.

fascinated · 25/05/2020 10:32

Yes OP
Agree with you here:

That Johnson had the audacity to say that Cummings acted "as an responsible father would" is incredulous: any responsible father would have followed the rules, and cracked on with it, getting help in at the family home if and when it was necessary.

What would BORIS JOHNSON know about being a responsible father??!

sweetsaltypopcorn · 25/05/2020 10:32

I am certainly not a leftie (rare on here?) and am angry.

fascinated · 25/05/2020 10:32

Disgust is the word.

Clavinova · 25/05/2020 10:33

Never mind Cummings, I think Boris has to go now.

At least we have Michael Gove, Dominic Raab and Rishi Sunak as alternatives.

Thethingswedoforlove · 25/05/2020 10:34

I think writing to our MPs (with address details as set out above) and signing the online petition chng.it/MGLLsqJLm8 are the best things we can do. Make the strength of public opinion undeniable....

Both Cummings and Johnson need to go, I agree.
Sky News reporting that 17 Conservative MPs have publicly announced that Cummings needs to resign.

OP posts:
JamieLeeCurtains · 25/05/2020 10:37

Sir Peter Bone a leftie? Goodness.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 10:38

17 MPs is nothing when you have an 80 seat majority and Brexit still to be resolved and so on. Don't get your hopes up here if you think either of them are going anywhere.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 25/05/2020 10:41

I do wonder what dirt Cummings has on Bodge. Maybe a pick of him snorting coke off a hookers backside or something? Cant see why else he'd commit political suicide like this.

StormzyinaTCup · 25/05/2020 10:48

Keir Starmer could always put up a vote of no confidence in the Government of course Smile, highly unlikely so I think Michael Gove will get another bite of the cherry, third time’s a charm and all that.

SophieB100 · 25/05/2020 10:50

This isn't about who you vote for - it's about millions of people in the UK following the rules, despite their own personal issues and circumstances. Rules set out by a man who then flouted them, and when challenged, arrogantly said "who cares". It's about a weak PM who then backed the flouter. It's about the double standards, the elite who have clearly demonstrated that it's one rule for them and another for us. This will undermine the whole lockdown campaign and the roadmap. Many people will now ignore any advice from a government who have behaved so appallingly. And who can blame them? Why should we, when the advice can so easily be ignored. All credibility and all the good work of us all vanished yesterday, thanks to an embarrassing and pathetic response from an unfit for purpose PM, who doesn't know the meaning of the word integrity.

That’s exactly what my dyed in the wool Tory husband said yesterday.

I don't actually think this would shock anyone - probably not blackmail worthy.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 11:10

Even if it was a sex/ drugs/ wolf of wolf street type dirt that Dominic ' has ' on Boris ( who knows? ) they will still vote conservative! People will bored by all this and forgive almost anything.

Mittens030869 · 25/05/2020 11:22

That Johnson had the audacity to say that Cummings acted "as an responsible father would" is incredulous: any responsible father would have followed the rules, and cracked on with it, getting help in at the family home if and when it was necessary.

How can it at any stretch have been the actions of responsible parents to put their autistic 4 year old in the car for several hours with a parent who actually has COVID-19?

I have parental instincts and they were to self-isolate from my DDs until I knew that I wasn't infectious, because I didn't want to put them at risk of catching the virus.

derxa · 25/05/2020 11:25

You should be annoyed to now be told you don't care enough about your family to have broken them. But I'm not annoyed. I'm an independently thinking person. My DH will come up when I get a date for surgery. Previous to that he didn't come up because we were told not to mix households and he didn't want to be stopped at the border. Now circumstances have changed. DC has to go but his actions don't make angry at all. The virus doesn't understand rules.

borntobequiet · 25/05/2020 12:01

Bodge is a terrific name for the fool.
I’m pinching it.

SophieB100 · 25/05/2020 12:12

I think Bodge is a great name too.
Dodgy Bodgy. Has a certain ring to it.

19 MPs now want Cummings out. There will be more.

I've never known such anger towards someone than this. It's certainly touched a nerve and now become the centre point for people's anger, and rightly so.
