Exactly that - my DH went out when I was washing up and have not heard from him since . That was about 830-9. Eight minutes ago a woman rang me and said that he was at the local police station , they couldn't say why and that he was fine. That he would call me in the morning . I can't speak to him he is asleep and no one is hurt and he is ok but they could not ring earlier as they have been busy . What does this even mean ??? Why would they call to say that ? Am panicked and thinking up alsorts and unlikely to sleep now . Can anyone help me ? Please xx

Mammaaof · 24/05/2020 05:17

Hope your getting something rest op

PhilCornwall1 · 24/05/2020 05:17

Looks like @Chinchinatti has suddenly slipped on a wig and gown and become Kavanagh QC

sashh · 24/05/2020 05:18

Hi OP

from the sounds of it he's been cought drunk driving.

The only other things I can think of is that a pub has opened against lockdown and he was found in it or he witnessed something / was a victim and not in a fit state to make a statement.

Not long now OP and he will be released and although you will feel bad if he is charged with something the 'bad' thing has already happened, you just don't know what it is/was yet.

On the solicitor front, while in custody you get a legal aid solicitor, called a 'duty solicitor'.

For those talking about 'allowed phnoe calls' in England and Wales (possibly the rest of the UK) you are not entitled to a call, you are entitled to have someone informed where you are though.

ChikiTIKI · 24/05/2020 05:19

Hope you're OK and eventually got some sleep.

Mydoghasbettereyebrowsthanme · 24/05/2020 05:22

Morning everyone. He has just walked in through the door. Two and two evidentially make 4 . He got pulled over and 'blew' 69 and same at the station. He has not slept all night. They have given him a court date in a month and then dropped him home . His other conviction was 19 years ago. Without advice I have no idea what is going to happen but he will most certainly lose his licence and his job. Neither of us have slept a wink so I gave sent him to bed cos I cannot look at his sorry face . He is in the put if despair . But as someone else said up thread , he bloody well made a choice. Now we all have to pay . Not sure what else to add. Firstly glad noone was hurt - luck and luck alone. Secondly , no way going to be able to keep this quiet. No way . I am so so ashamed . I cannot find the words. Sad but thank you all so much again xxFlowers

You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

Barton10 · 24/05/2020 05:25

If he is going to be charged with drink driving they won’t interview him until he has sobered up and can blow under the drink drive limit. He will be bailed to appear at the magistrates court in a few weeks. Hopefully he will ask for the duty solicitor who will be able to advise him of the likely sentence.

babyt2020 · 24/05/2020 05:26

I've been reading this during the night, so very sorry that you're going through this and that he's been so incredibly stupid and irresponsible. Make sure he sorts the kids in a couple of hours and you get some sleep yourself.

The limit is 50 on a breath test so he 'did well' to only blow 69 with the amount of booze you mentioned, that's if he'd drank a full bottle of red too.

PatricksRum · 24/05/2020 05:26

Try to get some sleep in your bed OP

Tell him to sleep on the kitchen floor couch

@chin you were wrong Smile

Peppafrig · 24/05/2020 05:36

You did nothing wrong OP it is him who is in the wrong. He will most definitely lose his job if he is a driver. But this is not your fault. Can you get an hour sleep yourself on the couch ? You will need all the strength you can get to deal with this in the morning .

SimplySteveRedux · 24/05/2020 05:36

Twice the legal limit. Probably 12-18 month ban, hefty fine. Hope you're ok.

It's 35 in England isn't it?

SimplySteveRedux · 24/05/2020 05:37

Yes, 35 in England.

Mummyoflittledragon · 24/05/2020 05:40

Oh gosh. I am glad he is safe. I’ve just read your other threads. I think when you have time you should reread these. He sounds like a selfish prick and dead weight.

It’s disgusting that you shared your money with him when he needed it but he will not do the same with you in good times. Do you really want to continue to fund him now he’s a dead weight again? He chose to Jack a job, which pays decent money and by the look of it has taken a lower paid driving job. Now he’s thrown that one in the bin too.

How many times are you going to take responsibility for his actions? Do you appreciate that if you always are an emotional and financial crutch, he will never stand on his own two feet? Flowers

so glad he's home as at least you can get some sleep now. you can't work out anything else without having some proper rest first. let today be a TV-on-all-day type thing for the kids, to give you a chance to catch up.

shinybells · 24/05/2020 05:54

And there we go @Chinchinatti - you're wrong. All your bloody knowledge was WRONG!

OP - look after yourself Thanks

You’ve been wrong about everything else chin so I’m not surprised.
OP, you have some tough things to think about. But I genuinely think you will be so much happier without this dead weight pulling you and the kids down.
Make sure you get some time to sleep today too. Brew

PhilCornwall1 · 24/05/2020 06:00

Yup, maybe I'm wrong and drunks get released at 5am and driven home.

A member of my family who was done for it (wanker) was kicked out at 6am, but had to make his own way home.

vickyq1983 · 24/05/2020 06:03

My friend was bought home at 6 in the morning for drunk and disorderly. He was still out of his tree as well!

Why are you ashamed? You’ve done nothing wrong! You didn’t get in that car! You’ve been at home looking after kids. This is all on him. Don’t you dare carry any guilt. He left without saying a word which is rude anyway and then drove drunk. He’s the guilty one.
