to think Dominic Cummings has to go?

Dominic Cummings apparently travelled to his parents house while meant to be self isolating due to covid symptoms.

Given what happened with Neil Ferguson and Catherine Calderwood, AIBU to think his position ought to be untenable?

Laura Kuenssberg's position has to be looking shaky after this one. The BBC can't employ someone who goes around Twitter giving rebuttals to other journalists stories.

Even if she is the only one who has managed to get a quote from a source.

FliesandPies · 22/05/2020 23:42

Kuenssberg seems to be as non-stick as Johnson

pontypridd · 22/05/2020 23:42

This matter alone is enough to cause a surge of protest and an uprising

Our country is falling apart in the hands of these idiots.

pontypridd · 22/05/2020 23:43

Who are these people - Cummings and Kuenssberg?

Why are they so non-stick?

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 23:47

Flies I do want rid of Wancock more than Cummings.

FliesandPies · 22/05/2020 23:53

I think the BBC just can't bear to admit that any of their journalists might be biased, it would open such an almighty can of worms. Also they are running scared of the Gov and what else it could do to them.

I dunno Lilac, if it wasn't Wanky it would only be some other idiot - remember the awful reign of Hunt? I would much rather be rid of Cummings - without him Johnson wouldn't have a leg to stand on so it would be rid of two useless conniving bent bastards for the price of one.

LangClegsInSpace · 23/05/2020 00:00

I'm not sure what official position he holds or how he could be got rid of but yes, he should fuck right off and he should have no further influence on government policy.

Breaking lockdown is one of the least worst things this man has done over the past few years and I have no faith that he will ever see justice.

You never know though - Al Capone was put in prison for tax evasion.

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/05/2020 00:02

You'll be rid of Hancock soon enough LilacTree1.Wink Cummings will be around longer. But CV19 has changed things, even for him. The novices he filled the cabinet with, had a baptism of fire while he was out sick. I doubt his hold is as powerful as it was.Grin

HeIenaDove · 23/05/2020 00:09

I wonder if even more people will think "Fuck it" and flock to the beaches this weekend. To basically stick two fingers up. Its going to be interesting to see the upcoming photos from beach resorts this weekend and compare them to the past few days.

LilacTree1 · 23/05/2020 00:09

Flies - I was more concerned that if Cummings and ergo
Johnson step down, Wancock might be PM.

I’d rather Sunak. Any of the hawks. This has gone on long enough.

LilacTree1 · 23/05/2020 00:11

Dione - I think Covid was a massive stroke of luck for Cummings, he got to make us lab rats in his social experiment. It’s made his life easier, not harder.

HeIenaDove · 23/05/2020 00:14

Didnt they put the fines up ten days ago. Was that so DC etc could afford to break lockdown but the "plebs" cant.

Minorchord · 23/05/2020 00:15

He should go 100%. He may not do because of the contemptible cretin the English electorate handed a big majority to.

Bertoldbrecht · 23/05/2020 00:18

Deliberate plan to nudge people to start breaking lockdown. Definite plan
behind it. Wouldn't be surprised if it hadn't been leaked deliberately.

lyralalala · 23/05/2020 00:19

I can only imagine how his cousin, who lost her father to covid, is feeling about him right now

@LilacTree1 It would be Raab temporarily if Boris walked away (which he won’t). Not exactly confidence inspiring

Then a leadership battle which will inevitably include Gove

FliesandPies · 23/05/2020 00:19

Hancock has no chance at all of being PM. I would prefer him to stay as Health Sec actually and be made to answer for the many failings.

Getting rid of Cummings would be the end of a truly rotten era in politics.

I wondered about that. Apparently the Guardian and Mirror have been trying to get confirmation of this story for 6 weeks

The timing on a bank holiday weekend works nicely for someone who wants people out and about

HeIenaDove · 23/05/2020 00:35

i was starting to wonder about the timing. Wouldnt put anything past the rat faced cunt.

HeIenaDove · 23/05/2020 00:44

Laura Kunessbergs position looks untenable as well.

NewAccountForCorona · 23/05/2020 00:47

Can anyone enlighten me as to what exactly Laura Kuenssberg has done. I'm not on twitter and can't work it out.

Laid out here - Pippa Crerar tweeted that Cummings was investigated by police over lockdown breach. Kuenssberg then tweeted anonymous 'source close to Cummings' refuting what Crerar had tweeted.

TheModicum · 23/05/2020 01:08

If he does go the fallout will be spectacular.
He knows the location of many many skeletons and is 100% the kind of man who would take others with him if he goes down.

I would love this to be the way things play out.

NewAccountForCorona · 23/05/2020 01:12

Thanks Helena and Flies, I couldn't work out in which order some of her comments were, so it was confusing.

LilacTree1 · 23/05/2020 01:13

I would have loved to stay and debate whatever comes next on MN

But if you’ve seen the petition to ban me, clearly I’m better off out of here

Perhaps I’ll return....like Dominic Cummings! You know he will. Sigh.
