to think Dominic Cummings has to go?

Dominic Cummings apparently travelled to his parents house while meant to be self isolating due to covid symptoms.

Given what happened with Neil Ferguson and Catherine Calderwood, AIBU to think his position ought to be untenable?

He’s absolutely toxic to this government. The awarding of the £250m contract for the tracing app to his chums completely undermines trust in it and the government. No, he won’t go. He knows not just where the bodies are buried, but also where the new bodies are going to be buried. Boris is nothing but his mouthpiece these days. He’s running the show and everybody knows it.

PerkingFaintly · 22/05/2020 22:06

Do you have a link for the pic of Cummings going into the Tube when he ran out of Downing St, TellmeTruth? I've heard it mentioned a few times but would like to see the actual pic.

In the meantime, I shall just enjoy his scuttle again. Grin

Unbelievable

Yet totally not surprised

thistimeofyear · 22/05/2020 22:07

Yes he should definitely go. How dare he think he’s above everyone else by doing this.

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 22:08

I just said on another thread I hope this story is a strategic release

But fuck knows what tracking tech will come our way next. I know a lot MNers are quite happy to be tracked but just in case it’s of interest

Lelly “ He’s running the show and everybody knows it.”

Yes and we are his lab experiment. I gather he believes in chaos theory and wants to break society down so he can rebuild it to his orders.

MaxNormal · 22/05/2020 22:12

could help with child care

He's spawned? Shock

PotholeParadise · 22/05/2020 22:13

One child.

gingerscot · 22/05/2020 22:16

Wonder why this has been released now...?

SometimesMaybe · 22/05/2020 22:17

Is he not classed as a special adviser? If so he is bound by a code of conduct (which is similar to Ministerial Code of Conduct/Civil Service Code?)
Dispassionately thinking about it a family having grandparents come to help when both parents are wiped with the virus doesn’t feel like the worst thing in the world could come under the “medical exemption” in the legislation (though obviously not good from an “optics” perspective).
But driving 250 miles knowing that you are infected which is what is being alleged here it utterly unacceptable. Shockingly hypocritical behaviour.

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 22:17

ginger my point exactly.

Smellbellina · 22/05/2020 22:19

A married man yet fucked off home to mummy and daddy when he was a bit under the weather?

What a stupid comment. Once a man is married he should stop giving a shit about his parents?
I really can’t get het up about some wanting to see their parents during this, even a married man! Shock

ChristmasCarcass · 22/05/2020 22:19

It is far worse than Neil Ferguson and Scotland’s CMO - neither of them thought they were contagious (Neil Ferguson had good reason to think he wasn’t as he had already had it).

Dominic Cummings and his wife knew they were both actively infectious, and travelled to a different part of the country, to stay with elderly people (who should have been shielding), and then went out and about once they got there (hence numerous sightings reported to police). He couldn’t have done a better job of spreading it if he was actively trying to.

SoHereWeAre01 · 22/05/2020 22:19

Unfortunately we live in an age of hypocrites.

Just read Keir Starmer's kids are currently at school, despite Labour Party being against schools reopening on 1 June.

Do as I say not as I do on both sides of the political spectrum...

maresydoats · 22/05/2020 22:21

He is Rasputin in my head. But what do I know.

longwayoff · 22/05/2020 22:21

He should go. He won't go. We're stuck with him and bloody Boris for the foreseeable future. Thanks voters.

maresydoats · 22/05/2020 22:23

Eh Boris could not survive without someone to do the heavy lifting for him. So he will stay.

Violetparis · 22/05/2020 22:24

Wonder if Boris and other MPs knew Cummings was in Durham ? I haven't seen my Dad, sister and my 92 year old frail Grandma since lockdown started, one rule for some Angry

Bufferingkisses · 22/05/2020 22:24

Fallsballs

He’s like Japanese Knotweed

Wish there was a like button.

He won't fall on that sword.

PotholeParadise · 22/05/2020 22:24

^What a stupid comment. Once a man is married he should stop giving a shit about his parents?

Well, perhaps he doesn't give a shit about his parents, as he went to stay with them, when he was ill with coronavirus? It's not excessively loving, is it?

ExCwmbranDweller · 22/05/2020 22:25

Didn't his wife write an article where she gave him a more human side, he'd rushed home to care for her before falling ill himself and wasn't able to move for weeks or something. Her top tip for dealing with a small child when you both have the virus was letting them play nurse with spoonfuls of Ribena. It definitely wasn't 'drive hundreds of miles and get your in laws to look after you'.

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 22:25

Keir has been on camera saying he thought schools should open hasn’t he? I thought he did a u turn?

Christmas are the parents actually shielding? There’s a misconception on MN about age and shielding.

Anyway my cousin is meant to be shielding and isn’t. If Cummings Snrs didn’t want to, that’s fine. But of course the point it is, we should be allowed to decide that within our families.

olympicsrock · 22/05/2020 22:27

Absolutely awful behaviour! He’s got to go

Smellbellina · 22/05/2020 22:27

Are they ill then?

maresydoats · 22/05/2020 22:28

The UK is totally fkd. They haven't got a clue, but still think they are oh so superior to everyone else.

But do as I say.... not as I do. Honestly WTAF.
