to think Dominic Cummings has to go?

RoosterPie · 22/05/2020 20:39

Dominic Cummings apparently travelled to his parents house while meant to be self isolating due to covid symptoms.

Given what happened with Neil Ferguson and Catherine Calderwood, AIBU to think his position ought to be untenable?

They travelled to Durham 3 times during lock down restrictions.

They have denied it - the two other witnesses need to come forward and identify themselves.

YouTheCat · 24/05/2020 14:22

But even going once was breaking the law in this instance.

SophieB100 · 24/05/2020 14:22

Sky now saying they've spoken to a third witness.

Caplin · 24/05/2020 14:23

I lost my brother on Tuesday. We had to watch by video as they unhooked his life support, he was 36. I haven’t been able to visit my mum. Only 10 people can attend his funeral, my dad can’t go. When we do go we are meant to sit 2m apart.

Meanwhile Cummings can go dance to ABBA in his parents garden, travel up nd down at least twice whilst infectious, go go 30 miles from his cottage for a walk.

So I hope he can look me and my family in the eye and explain why the rules don’t apply to him and why we have been unable to see each other.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 14:24

is that what you took from this?

You don't trust Labour's video editing do you? Grin

SophieB100 · 24/05/2020 14:25

@Caplin
So sorry for your loss Flowers

PotholeParadise · 24/05/2020 14:26

Caplin Flowers

My condolences on your loss.

tiredvommachine · 24/05/2020 14:26

@Caplin that is heartbreaking, I'm so sorry Flowers

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 14:27

Sky now saying they've spoken to a third witness

Well if they come forward and identify themselves I agree he is in trouble.

ListeningQuietly · 24/05/2020 14:27

If a member of your family is ill
you should not drive the length of the country
Covid or no Covid

If you think Cummings broke Lockdown
email your MP and tell them

ask why the rest of us are not allowed to go and see our parents / grandparents / nieces / sisters
but Cummings is .....

TheABC · 24/05/2020 14:28

@Caplin Flowers. I am sorry for your loss.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 14:28

"You don't trust Labour's video editing do you?"
Crossed post.

chomalungma · 24/05/2020 14:31

Well if they come forward and identify themselves I agree he is in trouble

But you don't agree he is trouble for potentially spreading the disease from London to the North East?

I wonder if he will tell today's sacrificial lamb at the briefing where he stopped on the way up - and how he would have guaranteed his car wouldn't break down or be involved in an accident on the way up North.

PotholeParadise · 24/05/2020 14:32

I am certainly going to be emailing my MP today.

In the meantime, I think Dominic Raab, who is so senior that he was designated driver if Johnson became ill, needa to apologise to all of us.

It’s reasonable and fair to ask for an explanation on this. And it has been provided: two parents with Coronavirus, were anxiously taking care of their young child. Those now seeking to politicise it should take a long hard look in the mirror.

I can take a look in the mirror very easily. I stayed inside the whole time. I was determined that the chain of transmission that led to us would break with me, and I am confident that we passed it to no-one after the first of us developed symptoms. We used local companies to drop off food on the doorstep and we had some very odd meals, but we made it through. And when we first developed symptoms, lockdown hadn't even started.

Take a look in the mirror, indeed.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 14:35

ask why the rest of us are not allowed to go and see our parents/ grandparents/nieces/sisters

Tbf several posters on this thread are doing that.

ListeningQuietly · 24/05/2020 14:37

People who are ill flu, noro, tummy bug, nasty cold, you name it should not be driving across the country and taking a 4 year old for a wee in the services
even in normal times .....

chomalungma · 24/05/2020 14:38

Tbf several posters on this thread are doing that

I think I once asked you (or it could have been the other regular) if there was anything Boris and co would do that you wouldn't defend to the hilt.

I do wonder what they would have to do for you to be silent in their defence?

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 14:41

But you do have to be held to a higher standard when you make the rules.

E.g. men lying about shagging their staff aren’t impeached but you are if you are the POTUS.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 14:42

taking a 4 year old for a wee in the services

No doubt someone is checking cctv at service stations to see if they were there - the boy may have slept for the entire journey if it was nighttime or stood by the side of the road - we have done both with two boys on the way to Cornwall.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 14:45

I do wonder what they would have to do for you to be silent in their defence?

Well I'm not going to argue with concrete evidence that he travelled back up to Durham on subsequent occasions.

Violetparis · 24/05/2020 14:48

How on earth is test, track and isolate going to work if people are allowed to travel the length of the country for childcare if infected ?

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 14:48

Caplin I absolute sympathise to your family. What an extreme,y difficult time that must have been and I can't even imagine the horror and fear. Please accept my love and prayers however empty that may seem from a stranger. Thanks

ListeningQuietly · 24/05/2020 14:48

or stood by the side of the road
On the M1
then they broke the law Grin

chomalungma · 24/05/2020 14:50

the boy may have slept for the entire journey if it was nighttime or stood by the side of the roa

If only someone could have given Grant Shapps the answer to some of those questions this morning?

1forsorrow · 24/05/2020 14:51

@Clavinova You don't trust Labour's video editing do you? Like anyone trusts Conservative video editing after the Keir Starmer one.
