To be annoyed by this meme regarding knickers?

For the umpteenth time I have come across a photo of an underwear-clad woman seductively and suggestively pulling down the waistband of her pants. It's bad enough that photos of scantily-clad women are so ubiquitous, but this meme really raises my feminist hackles as it's so unnecessary. When do you ever see a picture of a man doing this?

We all know that a woman's vulva and vagina are underneath her pants and we're aware that an early stage of having sex tends to be the removal of said pants, so it's obvious where this choreographed come-hithering comes from, but for the love of Marks and Spencer's lingerie department is it really necessary to spell it out?

Not every picture is a meme...
You can say "picture" you don't need yo try being "cool"Grin

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 22/05/2020 16:35

Those photos of men in their pants are so disgusting, I've had to have another look just to see how disgusting the are.

It's even worse if you download them to your phone. You can zoom right in. They really are quite shocking and appalling.

Laaalaaaa · 22/05/2020 16:35

@OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow yes! Almost as bad as every photo being described as a selfie. It’s only a selfie when it’s taken by you or someone else in the photo...

Eckhart · 22/05/2020 16:35

Not intentionally - must be my unconscious at work

Happy to make jokes about wanting to see suggestive pictures of men, then.

You clearly only have feminist hackles and aren't concerned with equality.

thegcatsmother · 22/05/2020 16:36

In the Obsession pic, he looks like he's peering into his pants and is disappointed by what's there, or is looking to see if anything is there. Mark Wahlberg is reassuring himself that it is still there, and hasn't vanished in the last five seconds.

You are lying and ashamed. I must try in order to prove you wrong.

LightenUpSummer · 22/05/2020 16:38

YANBU in the point your making

YABU it's a trope rather than a meme

PolloDePrimavera · 22/05/2020 16:38

That's not Mark Wahlberg peering into his pants, and Klein is spelled incorrectly on the waistband, think that one is a parody.

MargotB7 · 22/05/2020 16:41

Mark Whalberg is checking it's still there (by having a feel) not peering into his pants which is what thegcatmother meant.

LadyBrienne · 22/05/2020 16:43

@SoupDragon I am not sure why but half dressed firemen and puppies had be rolling on the floor laughing

Bluntness100 · 22/05/2020 16:44

Did you really write we all know her vagina is beneath her pants? And that we take our pants off to have sex? 🤣🤣🤣

Look it is an advert. The model was probably delighted to get the gig. And well paid for it. Same as the blokes who model. It’s selling knickers.

Would you prefer they were on an androgynous mannequin? So people didn’t think her vagina (or penis and testicles) was underneath her (his) pants?

Oakmaiden · 22/05/2020 16:45

I was just about to say the men peering into their pants/clutching the contents of their pants pictures always make me think they are checking it hasn't vanished...

I have a FB "friend" who constantly posts pictures like the firemen with puppies one. I dislike it very much. I don't go around leering at men in real life, and I don't need to have pictures to leer at either.

Do You know what a Meme is? I wouldnt class any of your examples as memes.

It's some sort of behaviour that spreads by imitation. Isn't it...?

Urgh, I had to download then to my 52" tv screen to check how disgusting they are.
Awful and shocking enlarged to 52 inches.

MaggieAndHopey · 22/05/2020 16:51

Lots of people telling the OP she doesn't know what a meme is. The original definition of the word meme was to denote a concept, idea or practice. It was coined by Richard Dawkins, to describe the idea that cultural information can be propagated like genetic information. It doesn't just mean 'funny internet photo with some text on it'.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 22/05/2020 16:51

Oh god yes.

MaggieAndHopey · 22/05/2020 16:51

One of those gratifying instances where people show their own ignorance by trying to embarrass someone else.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 22/05/2020 16:52

Awful and shocking enlarged to 52 inches.

That would actually be awful and shocking tho🙈

AuntyRigsby · 22/05/2020 16:54

Knicker photos like those are definitely memes! Ironically I'd say the misunderstanding of the meaning of "meme" is a meme!

AuntyRigsby · 22/05/2020 16:55

It doesn't just mean 'funny internet photo with some text on it'.

In fact it doesn't mean that at all Grin

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 22/05/2020 16:56

Have a look on Tik tok op. Literally hundreds of clips of men posing with not much on. There's even a hashtag for mums on tik tok who "admire" these videos.

sofato5miles · 22/05/2020 16:56

52 inches!

SirGawain · 22/05/2020 16:56
