To ask why I’m not loosing weight with all the excercise I’m doing?!

Endorphins · 22/05/2020 10:08

So I excercise 6 days per week and eat healthy 5 days per week!

I do 3 days of weight and strength training
2 days of running, generally about 7k each time
1 day of yoga for 60 minutes

I track via MFP and generally have about between 1300 and 1500 cals per day

On the weekend I relax the cal counting but don’t binge

I am still breast feeding my 2 year old and she feeds multiple times per day and throughout the night

I weigh 9 and a half stone

Take measurements - that will tell you far more than weight from exercise alone...

Less food: lose weight
More exercise: trim shape

Eddielzzard · 22/05/2020 12:59

I found it virtually impossible to lose weight whilst breastfeeding. I would cut yourself some slack, keep with the exercise and diet that you're comfortable and put the scales away. Once you finish breast feeding, then revisit.

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 22/05/2020 13:00

Have you measured different parts of your body? You might find that while your weight is not moving, you could be losing inches elsewhere

Onone · 22/05/2020 13:01

I’m 5,5 when I’m 9.5 stone I’m stick thin!you don’t need to lose weight

I’m 5,5 when I’m 9.5 stone I’m stick thin!you don’t need to lose weight

This applies to me therefore it must apply to everyone!

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 22/05/2020 13:06

The OP shouldn't lose any more weight because she's already lighter than a lot of other posters and they don't like it.

This.

I don't go on weight loss related threads often, but whenever I do there are always people that seem to be offended that others consider themselves fat at a weight that they would love to be.

beachbreeze · 22/05/2020 13:08

I found there was an extra half a stone hanging about until I quit breastfeeding and then it literally fell off in weeks without doing anything

GinDaddyRedux · 22/05/2020 13:09

"I’m 5,5 when I’m 9.5 stone I’m stick thin!you don’t need to lose weight"

Wow. just wow.

beachbreeze · 22/05/2020 13:11

I'm also 5'5" and not stick thin at 9st7. I wouldn't be "fat" either, but I would have extra flab on my stomach and thighs and less of a decent silhouette. Different for everyone I imagine

TwilightPeace · 22/05/2020 13:12

Why are you fixated on what the scales say?
Do you feel healthy? Toned? Energised? Mentally well?

MrsSnitchnose · 22/05/2020 13:22

I’m 5,5 when I’m 9.5 stone I’m stick thin!you don’t need to lose weight

I'm 5'6 and 9.9. I'm not 'stick thin' because it's all on my belly and thighs, hence trying to lose weight

Outofdodge · 22/05/2020 13:23

OP is weight training for strength 3 times a week. That would build significant muscle.

Not specifically in reference to the OP but it's just not that easy for the majority of women, as NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace said, it takes a long time (potentially years) to build siginifcant muscle from heavy weight lifting, specifically you'd have to be focusing on hypertrophy training. You need to be very focused and be deliberately trying to build muscle, including eating enough calories with an adequate amount of protein. Basically not the common cry on Mumsnet of "I'm using 2kg dumbells and my arms are getting huge". It's probably just water retention!

OP - focus on keeping yourself feeling fit and healthy so you can run after your toddler with ease! Then when you stop breastfeeding you can find out if that is what has been preventing fat loss, at the moment you need enough calories to feed a two year old. Give yourself a break, your body is having to feed another human being. Smile

SunshineCake · 22/05/2020 13:23

I was doing what I could and could never lose more than a stone. Then I stopped eating the things I was intolerant o and lost 1.5 stone very easily and stopped looking pregnant.

I've been running for the last three weeks and was very upset this morning that I've lost nothing but I have been eating the things I am intolerant to for a bit, and had been fine, but this last week or so I have started reacting again Sad.

Maybe some of you who are struggling are actually intolerant to certain foods ?

ShowOfHands · 22/05/2020 13:26

At 9.5 stone, I look overweight. People have different body types, though I am 5ft 4" so shorter than the op. I need to be 8st 4/5 ish to look my best. To lose weight when already fairly slim can be quite challenging. I needed to get back under 9 stone a few years ago (v strange time with an injury and increased work hours) and to achieve this, I was running 40km a week, doing HIIT 4 times a week and weight training 3 times a week as well as cycling and walking most days. I had to cut out a lot of calories to see a 1lb a week loss. And I wasn't building visible muscle either. I don't lift heavy enough weights.

PapsofJura · 22/05/2020 13:28

To all the posters advising that the op is fine and doesn’t need to lose weight are peddling a lot of nonsense.
None of us know the op’s frame and where the weight is held.
I am the same height as the op and if I weighed that amount I would be fat as all my excess weight goes straight on my tummy and that’s not good given that heart disease runs in my family and this is the worst place to hold weight.
Other people will store their weight differently and may be fine but don’t automatically say it’s fine.

lovinglavidaloca · 22/05/2020 13:29

Totally agree people do not have the right to tell OP she shouldn’t be losing weight just knowing her height and weight. We all carry weight differently.

PapsofJura · 22/05/2020 13:30

Oh and to really hammer home how we are all different, I didn’t lose any weight whilst breastfeeding but it fell off when I stopped!

Bakerstreet8 · 22/05/2020 13:34

Running 7k twice per week won’t burn significant calories. I run about 60k per week and am the same height and weight as OP and have been ever since I started running this much around 5 years ago.

What has changed is my body shape; OP how about your clothes size? Before running I was a 10-12 now I’m a 6 even though I weigh the same.

Before I started running at 5 ft 6 and 9 stone 6 with no significant muscle tone I didn’t feel great about my body so can see where the OP is coming from. I found without exercising I needed to cut back to about 1200 cals to lose weight. It’s really the exercise that has made me look much better, my stomach is toned and no cellulite. I would up the running and cut back on calories to be honest.

Dozer · 22/05/2020 13:38

OP’s BMI is 21.5

PhoneLock · 22/05/2020 13:40

OP’s BMI is 21.5

What has that got to do with the price of fish?

Crunchymum · 22/05/2020 13:51

The OP has given her height and weight??

lovinglavidaloca · 22/05/2020 13:57

Reread what you’ve quoted Crunchy Hmm

dramadrama · 22/05/2020 14:02

Sometimes stopping breastfeeding can release a last little bit of body fat for some women around the breasts.

I'm 5'7.5" and 9 stone 11-ish. actually I feel better closer to 9 stone 9 and definitely not too thin as I have quite a slim frame. I'm amused by people who think that this is borderline anorexic and dangerous. It's just...being slim. OP is probably fine as is, but if she lost a few pounds, so what? She'd be fine and healthy too.

dramadrama · 22/05/2020 14:03

still be fine and healthy.

notalwaysalondoner · 22/05/2020 14:04

I’m 5’6” and weigh just under 9 stone. I’m slim but certainly not thin and I’d say 8.5 stone would be ideal - I carry some excess fat on my thighs and bum personally.

I agree calorie counting is probably the best way if you want to lose weight, but it sounds like you also want tone - have you considered seeing a personal trainer to make sure your exercise hours are going to the best possible use? Appreciate might not be possible, but running and yoga will make much less of a difference than weights, for example, if toning is your goal.
