I think I'd rather stay at home

I'd rather listen to my own common sense and act accordingly, than do something just because Boris said I can.

Nquartz · 21/05/2020 13:42

There's been posts on Facebook about people going outside in Bakewell because public toilets aren't open 😤

BubblyBarbara · 21/05/2020 13:43

Instead of saying 'don't come, we won't host' why not say 'come, enjoy the beach and the businesses that can open will happily serve you, use public loos and car parks, use the bins etc'.

I guess you missed the whole pandemic thing going on right now

GBarmy · 21/05/2020 13:47

A few people seem to have missed that memo Confused

alltoomuchrightnow · 21/05/2020 13:48

Can't close a beach!? What a daft statement. Loads of beaches get closed at 'normal' times of year eg evenings. Many are privately owned.

ITonyah · 21/05/2020 13:51

Yes same here. I posted that on a thread when someone was puffing out their chest about locals not owning beaches. Sometimes they literally do own them Grin

bellinisurge · 21/05/2020 14:00

I no longer live in the seaside town I grew up in but I follow loads of official and unofficial local pages on FB. Where they are begging people not to come until the town is ready. And then "come one, come all".
It's not that hard to understand.

Durgasarrow · 21/05/2020 14:07

I was just reading an article that said the coronavirus can be spread by excrement. So that makes public pooing even more disgusting.

kateybeth79 · 21/05/2020 14:08

The toilets are open at my nearest beach! I was very surprised I have to admit!

halexanderamilton · 21/05/2020 14:09

I live in a northern seaside town and my friend lives opposite its famous ancient church. The visitors here are using the church doorway as a toilet.

bellinisurge · 21/05/2020 14:11

@halexanderamilton , that's gross. Shit in your own fucking toilets until the place is ready for your visit.

OneForMeToo · 21/05/2020 14:14

I’d love to go to the beach since we are due to actually be on holiday from Saturday but no way am I going too many idiots who aren’t aware of anything let alone the toilet issue. I won’t even visit our local national park as the idiots have slowly crept up in numbers there.

halexanderamilton · 21/05/2020 14:16

@bellinisurge - you did get that it's not me doing this, yes? Just reporting what my friend has witnessed. Our beach had nappies and all sorts left on it yesterday. It's a common thing. People have very low levels of decency.

ekidmxcl · 21/05/2020 14:16

They could be pissing in the sea.

But anyone who isn't close enough to go home for a crap shouldn't really be at the beach imo. I think the govt should have put some restrictions on movement. Driving a couple of hours to a totally different community, just to go to the beach isn't a good idea IMO.

Nothing has changed in medical terms. This virus is here, there is no vaccine or cure. The R number statistics or death statistics don't change anything. They aren't anything to do with what the virus will do to a person who catches it.

bellinisurge · 21/05/2020 14:17

@halexanderamilton , of course I realised it wasn't you. My harrumphing was aimed at the selfish entitled fuckers on here who claim it's easy to open a town up to visitors.

It can’t be that hard or none of them would have managed it.

bellinisurge · 21/05/2020 14:23

Alsohuman , utterly ridiculous. You don't know what you are talking about. Are you Donald Trump?

PafLeChien · 21/05/2020 14:23

Ignore some posters who are deliberately on here and similar threads just to start a fight.

Trying to justify unacceptable behaviour cannot come from someone who genuinely think it's ok, no one is that thick.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 21/05/2020 14:24

I can't understand people with no medical issues who have to poo on a
day out

Not everyone poos when they wake up. Some people poo more than once a day. How is this a surprise? Not everyone has a timetable on their bowel.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 21/05/2020 14:29

I assume everyone is peeing in the see. Anyone who can't hold a poo in for an extended period of time should be staying home, it's a pandemic.

Alsohuman · 21/05/2020 14:33

Nobody’s tried to justify unacceptable behaviour. A lot of us are saying that councils could have just opened the toilets then there wouldn’t have been unacceptable behaviour.

Of course I know what I’m talking about @bellinisurge, or did you miss all the posters who have been to the seaside and lo and behold, a miracle - the loos were open.

OnlyThenWhen · 21/05/2020 14:36

I can't understand people with no medical issues who have to poo on a
day out

To be honest, I can't hold on for long, no medical issue, just that I find it hard! But I also don't venture too far from toilets anyway, because I also have a small bladder and need to pee a lot- again, no medical issue, just the way I am.

OnlyThenWhen · 21/05/2020 14:37

Nobody’s tried to justify unacceptable behaviour. A lot of us are saying that councils could have just opened the toilets then there wouldn’t have been unacceptable behaviour.

But that's kind of justifying it- it reads like you're blaming the council for people leaving shitty nappies on the beach and shitting in public. Those things shouldn't be happening whether or not toilets and etc are open or closed.

Alsohuman · 21/05/2020 14:39

Those things shouldn't be happening whether or not toilets and etc are open or closed

Of course they shouldn’t but it’s a lot more likely with closed toilets.
