Is it me or is she a complete car crash to watch on the daily coronavirus briefings?

OP posts:
RoosterPie · 19/05/2020 17:34

Yeah I don’t think she’s doing that well. Not seen one with her before.

RoosterPie · 19/05/2020 17:35

Although why did one journalist just refer to her as “the scientist”? I thought that was rude. Learn her name or her position.

ProtectAll · 19/05/2020 17:36

I don’t think she is doing very well today! She sounds exasperated rather like I do after a long day in the office when my boss drags me into a meeting to give my opinion

HomerDancing · 19/05/2020 17:38

She's coming across terribly, maybe even aggressive in some of her answers.

wonkytonkwoman · 19/05/2020 17:38

I like her.

thistimeofyear · 19/05/2020 17:39

She’s not had the media training course clearly ! but I think we should give her a chance. It must be a daunting task to do these things

PurpleDaisies · 19/05/2020 17:39

She’s a scientist not a politician. She’s not there to slickly sell a party line.

I’m not sure what’s so bad about her performance that makes it a “car crash”.

Hadenoughfornow · 19/05/2020 17:39

I thinking she just can't be arsed with stupid questions.

She has stumbled a bit. She answered the last one well I think.

But its also clear that they have tried to do as well as they can under the constraints they have had. (Experts i mean)

notonmywatchyouwont · 19/05/2020 17:41

Just to add - I'm not saying I'd do any better!

OP posts:
wonkytonkwoman · 19/05/2020 17:43

Yes that's what I think - she's not a politician and she only needs to give the scientific view. And, she can't be arsed with stupid questions, like @Hadenoughfornow says Grin

PurpleDaisies · 19/05/2020 17:44

What exactly do you think is so objectionable?

Did you miss George Useless today? He really was terrible.

Violetparis · 19/05/2020 17:45

I find her painful to watch.

LittlePearl · 19/05/2020 17:47

I think she comes across as a bit prickly compared to Chris Witty, Jenny Harries or Patrick Valance. I find myself feeling a bit on edge when she's on compared to the others.

Port1aCastis · 19/05/2020 17:49

She's not been trained in media briefings so she's doing far better than I ever could, also she can't be arsed with dimwit questions don't blame her neither can I,

SusieOwl4 · 19/05/2020 17:51

I agree that she was just fed up of questions that has been covered before . All politicians from all parties have their set answers . Scientists don’t. I though she did ok.

Port1aCastis · 19/05/2020 17:56

George Eustice and his fruit picking speech had me scowling as his family own a massive fruit farm here in Cornwall

mouse70 · 19/05/2020 17:59

I am surprised more individuals do not snap at repetitive/stupid questions from some journalists. Either asking for information that no one can know or rephrasing question to ask same as a previous questioner expecting a different answer!

PicsInRed · 19/05/2020 18:03

She's been on repeatedly and she's fine.

She's rightly annoyed today because a govt minister today stated that this is all the fault of "The Scientists" and now the media are following that line - when the scientific advice was delivered in line with what testing equipment and infrastructure the UK actually had access to. Which was fuck all really.

PicsInRed · 19/05/2020 18:04

I love how he said that the furloughed "now have an opportunity to contribute". Cheeky fucker.

pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 18:11

Pics well as parliament are off next week he can put his wellies where his mouth is!

Port1aCastis · 19/05/2020 18:14

Yep and if you scroll down on this link you'll see who owns this farm lo and behold it's Giles Eustice!

wherestheotherone · 19/05/2020 18:14

The thing is the press are hell bent on finding problems. They are so negative and their questions aren't probing they are simply antagonising. I think she's done her best and is probably fed up with the repetition and stupidity of some of the questions. Everything she says gets pulled apart and used to try and evidence weakness.

How many ways to they want the scientists and the politicians to answer the questions.

Thaddit · 19/05/2020 18:16

She certainly doesn’t suffer fools gladly.

PicsInRed · 19/05/2020 18:17

Picswell as parliament are off next week he can put his wellies where his mouth is!

Hope he'll be sleeping in farm barracks with all his troops...

EthelMayFergus · 19/05/2020 18:18

The press are really irritating and she's not polished enough to hide her irritation. I like her, she's 'real'.
