To send my kids back to school when the cabinet does?

ChavvySexPond · 18/05/2020 15:20

Are any members of the cabinet sending their children back to school on June 1st?

Why ever not?

The schools they go to aren't opening you say?

Why not?

Eh?

I've no idea, have you tried googling it?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/05/2020 15:24

YANBU. If it's not safe enough for the toffs and plummed gobs to send their kids back to school. It's not safe enough for us mere mortals to send our kids back to.school. The words goose good and gander come to me.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/05/2020 15:24

Come to mind not me.

womanvsfood · 18/05/2020 15:31

I'm really interested to see whether Prince George and Princess Charlotte go back.

ShatTheBed · 18/05/2020 15:33

Which members of the cabinet have reception, Y1 or Y6 aged children?

Genuinely curious.

ShatTheBed · 18/05/2020 15:43

I suppose statistically JRM is likely to. He’s very quiet these days though.

ChavvySexPond · 18/05/2020 16:51

Most cabinet members have children, so if none of them have them in the relevant year groups it might go some way to explaining why they chose those year groups.

AuntieUrsula · 18/05/2020 17:09

Bollocks. Most of the cabinet are hawks who want to open everything up soonest

Lochroy · 18/05/2020 17:16

I suspect most of the cabinet with school age children send them to private school, and if the school isn't open, there's no point to prove.

But if there are any which are the correct years to be going back and schools are open, then they damn well should be. I'm sure Cummings will magic one poor kid plus minister parent up for a photo op on 1st June

ChavvySexPond · 18/05/2020 17:59

Public schools aren't reopening on a June 1st? Why not? Anyone would think it was unsafe or something.

Yes, that's exactly how it was decided, then they bribed all the educational experts to agree with them, how clever of you to have sussed out their cunning ruse.

Ahundredpercentthatbitch · 18/05/2020 18:04

Eton is staying closed on June 1st.

The inverse snobbery on this thread is horrendous. Wouldn’t be tolerated the other way round

bookworm14 · 18/05/2020 18:07

For Christ’s sake. Plenty of private schools are reopening.

bookworm14 · 18/05/2020 18:08

Eton is staying closed because a) it’s a secondary school (which haven’t been told to open) and b) it’s a boarding school which would make distancing impossible.

TingTastic · 18/05/2020 18:10

Plenty of private primary schools are opening, private secondary schools are shut. Exactly the same as state school. YABU

Oh but it is. It just isn't articulated.

Incorrect.

Daphnise · 18/05/2020 18:35

I don't think it's much of a valid argument to base anything you want to do on what a cabinet minister might do.

If the those in charge have told us to send our children back to school but aren't sending their own children, then surely that's hypocrisy.

Whereas four and five year olds will socially distance flawlessly and no one will pick them up if they fall down.

OP
Where did you read that no private schools are opening?

Experimenopause · 18/05/2020 19:41

Can you share the source please?

Drivingdownthe101 · 18/05/2020 19:43

How do we know cabinet members aren’t sending their kids back? Have they said?
Our nearest private school is definitely reopening 1st June. One of my best friends is deputy head.

BunsyGirl · 18/05/2020 19:46

OP, STOP TALKING SHIT. My DC’s go to a private school. It is currently open for key worker children (prep and senior). We have received notification of a phased return beginning with nursery, reception, year 1 and year 6 on 1 June, plus “face to face” for 10 and 12 in line with Govt guidelines. Of course Eton is remaining closed, it is a boarding only school. No boarders will be returning to my DC’s school for the time being. For a start, many of them come from overseas and would have to deal with travel and quarantine restrictions.
