I know, pathetic isn't it? Mind you, the poor dears who post this are just getting used to not saying, "It's a good job that Neil Kinnock bloke didn't get in". They'll be on the Corbyn mantra for a few more years yet

It's not pathetic though, it's a legitimate perspective. No I don't regret voting Tory because the alternative, Corbyn's leadership, would be far worse, imo. Hope that helps.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 17/05/2020 20:10

And also, why are we 'poor dears'? The party we voted for won by a landslide and yours (by the sounds of it) got absolutely decimated. So thanks for the sarcastic pity, but as far as I can see, it's very misplaced.

canigooutyet · 17/05/2020 20:10

Back in April government updated furlough guidelines.

If a parent cannot get childcare they can request furlough. Government were very clear that this had to be agreed.

sixthtimelucky · 17/05/2020 20:18

Lifelong Labour voter. Voted Lib Dem as would never vote Tory (but not saying that antagonistically as I can't bear all the judgement and many of my lovely family voted Cons). Regretted voting LD then, regret now, but Labour gave me no option. So I'm overall angry with unions, Labour and Corbyn.

randomer · 17/05/2020 20:20

Corbyn awful. The shower in charge...there are no words.

underneaththeash · 17/05/2020 20:20

OMG - definitely not!
We'd be paying back the deficit for the next 30 year if Corbyn was in charge..it's going to be bad enough as it is.
I'm also glad there was an election as TM was not a strong enpugh leader.

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 20:24

If a parent cannot get childcare they can request furlough. Government were very clear that this had to be agreed

It doesn't "have to be agreed" at all. Employees with childcare responsibilities can request to be furloughed. The employer has to agree. I am sure most employers would try to oblige, but if the employee has a job to do that cannot be furloughed then the employer can refuse the request

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 20:26

Sorry - did you mean the employer needs to agree first, or the employer HAS to agree??

Alsohuman · 17/05/2020 20:31

That isn't how furlough works

That’s precisely how furlough works. They’re desperate to get everyone back to work wherever possible.

ellabella18 · 17/05/2020 20:32

@Utterlydespairing I think you'll find that was Thatcger.

ellabella18 · 17/05/2020 20:33

Thatcher!

ZombieFan · 17/05/2020 20:36

Has anyone mentioned yet how we have finally got out of the EU and will be free from them completely, in just a few more months?

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 20:36

alsohuman the furlough scheme is running until October.

The employer who agreed furlough for childcare reasons would also have specified a return date or a revirw date.

Furlough is not an automatic right for employees with childcare issues.

canigooutyet · 17/05/2020 21:03

You must have missed some updates when all childcare providers and schools were shut down.
Read all the gov.com updates.
Various websites like working mums etc all say the same.
If you haven’t got childcare you are furloughed.

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 21:04

If you haven’t got childcare you are furloughed

No you aren't!

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 21:04

There is NO automatic right to the furlough scheme for any employee.

canigooutyet · 17/05/2020 21:08

There have also been a lot of employers who ignored the guidelines and as well as paying it all back, they have the possibility of getting fined.

Employers claiming furlough but still getting people working. Demanding workers still work. Threatening jobs etc.

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 21:12

I would imagine the majority of employers have behaved properly. Of course some will take the piss.

Cb2020 · 17/05/2020 21:13

How can people honestly think a man openly boasting on national tv about shaking hands with patients confirmed to have covid is doing a good job in this pandemic??????

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 21:15

Yes, that was idiotic and ill judged. Still, he paid the price for it!

canigooutyet · 17/05/2020 21:17

If you are unable to work, including from home, due to caring responsibilities arising from coronarivus (COVID-19), such as caring for children who are at home as a result of school and childcare facilities closing, or caring for a vulnerable individual in your household, then you should speak to your employer about whether they plan to place staff on furlough

There are then additional clauses in terms to schools closures. Maintaining all working rights, could it be discriminatory to exclude the employee? What about single parents who work etc. Many of whom at the beginning were told get to work or loose your job, hence the update.

Same with 0 contract hours and agency workers etc all have various additional guidelines

I would be interested in reading where it says employers don’t have to furlough parents.

strugglingwithdeciding · 17/05/2020 21:18

The fact people would rather have anyone but Corbyn kind of shows why labour Lost
I'm not a set in stone voter and actually didn't vote at this election as I thought they were all crap
I'm liking how stammer comes across at the moment , maybe he could if been more of an opposition.

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 21:19

"then you should speak to your employer about whether they plan to place staff on furlough"

In no way does this say you have an automatic right to furlough!

Wfh could be a possibility.

growinganotherhead · 17/05/2020 21:20

[Cendrillonsings]

Maybe Labour could try not putting up a laughable crank as their candidate for the Premiership of the United Kingdom if they don’t want to have the piss taken out of them?

As opposed to a man described as a “selfish b***d” by his own daughter, who propagated the £350m-a-week Brexit lie, endangered a British mum jailed in Iran, blew millions on his Garden Bridge ‘vanity project’, wasted £300,000 on illegal water cannon, called black people 'piccaninnies', mocked Muslim women as 'letterboxes', when his expensive buses became a ‘saunas on wheels’, used racist terms to describe Barack Obama, no one knows how many children he has, called gay men 'tank-topped bum boys', wrote a dirty limerick about Turkey’s President and a goat, insulted the entire city of Liverpool, took a £20,000 flight to avoid scrutiny on Heathrow Airport, branded his £250k-a-year pocket money ‘chicken feed’, was accused of a major conflict of interest, unlawfully shut down Parliament (after promising he wouldn’t), sacked from two jobs for lying?
Really?

Scruffyoak · 17/05/2020 21:20

They would never admit it...
