I've had a few...

Got involved with a few unsavoury men through online dating. Luckily sussed them out and binned them off before things got too serious.

I once walked home over four miles at 2am through one of the roughest areas round here. A man out walking a dog stopped me to talk. It shit me up but he was nice, he just couldn't sleep so took rover out.

I used to work doing deliveries for takeaway shops until 1/2am never gave it much thought but really a young girl on her own going into high rise flats etc was probably a bit stupid. Worst one was I came back from a delivery and there was a drunk guy in the shop kicking off, screamed at one of the guys he was a ‘black bastard’ so I flipped, told him to get the fuck out and not come back or I’d phone the police. On his way out he kicked and dented the side of my car. So I started following him and called the police. This was after midnight, quiet streets and the operator was like ‘what are you going to do if he turns round?!’ Because he was basically running from me and I was chasing him. Not sure if she was more concerned for him or me at that point but she stayed on the phone and police were there in minutes and lifted him. When I think back now I was bloody stupid he could’ve had a knife or anything. He did get charged though and had to pay for my car. I got £20 cheques once a fortnight for months 😂😂

Used to have a job where I'd work in one location then have to walk back to the main office carrying my cash tin. One of the security guys was meant to come and walk with me but one night no-one arrived so I was stuck in the dark (winter night) on my own and had to walk back alone carrying my cash tin which had £400 odd quid in it.

A druggie stopped me and demanded the cash. Luckily a passing pcso came over or I'd probably have been mugged.

Went zip lining. Totally freaked out as didn't dare go accross on my own. Shaky, white panic. Awful. Went accross in tandem with the guide. It was about 300 foot high. Later found out our combined weight far exceeded the limit

I couldn't sleep properly for weeks

Honestly I could write an essay, looking back at my teens and early 20s I am amazed i didn't get myself in serious trouble. Most stories start with 'I was really drunk...' then a variation on going home with men I'd literally just met, walking alone down side streets at 3am, getting into cars with total strangers when abroad...I was an absolute idiot at times

The main non drink related one is skydiving, which I did a few times. Pretty dangerous if it goes wrong 🙂

Riding my bike across an ice covered lake in winter as a child. On my own. Several times. I shiver when I think about it now.

So fucking stupid, because even though we outran the pyroclasts (well, mostly- I got hit on the back of the neck bybo e and knocked out) the gases could easily have killed us.

Getting on a bus in India which took much longer than expected, meaning we arrived in a town we hadn't been to before at 2am... bus driver stopped in some random part of town and insisted we got off turned out he had stopped the bus by his brother's hotel and proceeded to bang on the door to wake him to open up and give us a room It was only recently that I really thought about how that could have gone in a totally different direction...

I've had a few scary moments sailing in bad weather, though the worst time was probably in fog somewhere where there were plenty of ships big enough to have crushed our little yacht and not even notice. I was glad when that was over.
I was alone in my parents' house when it was broken into in my late teens, and for some bizarre reason thought it was a good idea to challenge the burglar. Even more bizarrely he ran away and I chased him down the road. That was pretty stupid really.

According to other people it would be galloping a horse bareback, working with unpredictable dogs and large livestock. I used to go in with my free range sows to assist when they were farrowing (having their piglets) and other farmers kept telling me that one day they'd turn on me.

When I was a student I lived in quite a rough area and not too far from.the town centre. My flatmate and I would quite often decide at 10pm.on a Friday night we fancied going out and would head out to our favourite club just round the corner. And nearly always walk back home at about 2 or 3am. Not too far and always together but still bloody daft really.

Going into work...

Once got into a legit taxi which drove to some wasteland. Kept asking me if I was scared as we got further into darkness. The sheer cockiness of alcohol kept me confident and cheery. He eventually took me home. My dm reported him to his firm straight away. Not sure why not the police looking back . I was 19...

Walking home late at night on a 2-3 mile walk through Wembley. Drunk. Frequently.

Ended up going home with two men once. They were utter gentlemen and it was such a laugh but it's only years later that I realised just how badly wrong it could have gone.

I stopped a shoplifted once when I worked in a shop. It was only once he was being pinned to the ground by other members of staff that I saw the giant Stanley knife he had on him. Found out at the police station later on that he had slashed some staff in other shops before he got to our shop.

Got into a car with 2 guys I hardly knew with my friend. One of them knew the roads really well and proved it by driving without any lights on far faster than was safe on a dark country road.

Makes me go all funny when I think about it now.

Tombstoning off a viaduct into a river while trying to remember where the massive rocks were and avoid them, aged 12 - it's a miracle I made it to 13!

Bloody hell some of these make me proper scared 😦!

I once got a tube to the other side of London to meet a guy I met on the internet for sex at his house. I told nobody where I was going or what his name was or anything. I shudder to think how fucking stupid that was.

Fell into a crevasse on Denali. Came within several feet of a polar bear on Ellesmere Island. Shot at in Baluchistan, Pakistan. I ended up being rescued in the Simpson Desert, Australia etc,etc.
