To refuse to have a corona vaccine?

A lot of people seem to be waiting for a corona vaccine. However I just dont trust any vaccine 'rushed' out, especially after all the mistakes made so far in this crisis. I would rather catch the actual virus and take my chances, as for most people it is a mild illness but who knows what the vaccine may do.

I know quite a few other people who say they will refuse any vaccine for this. I have had all the other vaccines, as have my children.

Great. Can you please detail exactly why it would be 'rushed' compared to a normal vaccine, what state of the testing process it will definitely be skipping, and whether you are happy with the risk of catching it and passing it on to a vulnerable person?

Your choice, but you might want to just keep your head down and do your own thing. Anti-vaxxers get pretty short shrift round here...

@Wolfgirrl there is a lot of pressure for them to get a vaccine out quickly, so I dont trust that risks may not be taken.

Out of interest how much do you know about the development of vaccines, medical trials, and clinical ethical standards?

I don’t know whether I’ll be able to have one - depends whether it’s killed strain or live attenuated

If not enough of the population take up the vaccine, and irbid one I can if receive, then there’s no way out from behind the shield

I get that people might decide not to be immunised. But I think it’s tacky to state that intention to an audience which included the exceptionally medically vulnerable

Tell that to all the thousands who have died. I would be first in queue for vaccine. I'm pregnant so I probably won't be allowed it. I hope everyone who can have it will so it's stops the spread to the vulnerable.

My husband got the swine flu vaccine and has never been the same since. His doctor has admitted that it was rushed out and there have been some long term permanent affects on people.
I won't be taking it either... haters gonna hate but I have to watch a man who had so much energy now drag himself out of bed everyday and fall asleep numerous times a day.

Also please can you detail the process of vaccine development at all points, including likely timescales and pinpoint exactly where this process will be 'rushed'. Don't forget to get your work peer-reviewed by epidemiologists, virologists and vaccine development specialists!

Nah it’s fine. The more people who refuse it, the quicker those who want one will be able to have it. Win/win.

It's not on the market yet, Up to the individual whether or not they nave the jab, not a big deal. I didn't have 'flu jab last winter and am still here.

No, it really doesn't. There are loads of batshit people out there and they tend to flock together.

@opticaldelusion there have been previous medical and drug mistakes, scientists and doctors arent perfect.

Any vaccination will be tested rigorously before it is widely launched, trials are currently ongoing. The chances of you being harmed by a vaccine are absolutely tiny compared to the chances of suffering the effects of the actual disease - same for vaccinations for all diseases. Vaccination is safe and effective and this has been shown time and time again.
