Me and my ex live abroad, he want ds who will be 3 in December to go to the uk for Christmas (if possible with Covid 19) I have to go to I said we will go if he will pay for both of us or we can go next summer and I’ll pay as it’s lovely in the summer can take ds out hang in the family garden lots of birthdays aswell so probably be a big party.

If I go in winter we will be stuck inside with no where to go, Ill have to basically take care of ds the whole time unless he Disney dads and acts better for fam and buy presents for them as it would be awkward not too. So AIBU asking him to pay?

Honest opinion. The only one that will suffer is your DS, he’s not getting the opportunity to know his Dad or that side of the family. I appreciate you may have your reasons however you’re basically saying, ‘pay for me to go or you will have to wait to see your son another 6 months’ it’s a bit harsh. Can you both come to a compromise, maybe ask if he can make a contribution rather than the full amount?

You don’t have to go. If your partner wants your son to go then that’s fine. Your partner can deal with all the issues.
I’m concerned, given that your son has barely any relationship with his son that you don’t want to let go.
You really need parental rights to be established.

Just say no it's not going to happen.
If hd wants him to go he needs to build a relationship with DS.

I wouldn't trust him to either pay for you properly or look after DS.

If you want to come to UK next summer and meet up with his family that's very nice of you.
I'm not sure why you are facilitating any contact at all ...he sounds horrible

Thanks for everyone’s opinions I’ll see how the flow goes it’s still a while away and everything is pretty up in the air now
