Gandhi

Oakmaiden · 13/05/2020 16:23

"Ladies" with an amusing typo I would assume

I actually object to "ladies". It makes me cringe.

Which is why I start group messages with something neutral like "greetings all", "Hello everyone", etc.

And I use "woman" rather than "lady" in general.

MatildaTheCat · 13/05/2020 16:24

So many of these. Also

The Farewell. Available on Amazon Prime. It’s a wonderful movie.

AtopAHighHill · 13/05/2020 16:25

The Red Balloon is one of my favourites. Sadly very little is left of the film location in Belleville.
Midnight Cowboy
Bonnie and Clyde
Now Voyager
Mississippi Burning

TeaAddict235 · 13/05/2020 16:27

Roots
The colour purple
Ink ?

blue25 · 13/05/2020 16:28

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a really poor film/book. Those who like it should read why it’s such a problem for holocaust survivors and many Jewish people.

Tana433 · 13/05/2020 16:29

Kramer vs Kramer Just a heartwrenching film.

Ginormarse · 13/05/2020 16:33

A Monster calls had me sobbing uncontrollably.

Barabajagal · 13/05/2020 16:33

The Deer Hunter stayed with me for ages. Brilliant film.

clippityclop · 13/05/2020 16:34

The Year of Living Dangerously. Really made me engage in how others live, the impact of war and importance of taking action.

Graphista · 13/05/2020 16:35

Milk - brilliant film totally agree

What dreams may come amazing film but I've been unable to watch since he passed.

UntamedWisteria · 13/05/2020 16:36

You've set the bar pretty low OP.

FlapAttack23 · 13/05/2020 16:36

Frozen 2
Riding in cars with boys

nauticant · 13/05/2020 16:36

Among my most profound is Welcome to the Dollhouse. A brilliant envisaging of the misery and excruciating awkwardness of growing up:

wheresmymojo · 13/05/2020 16:38

Agree with the Before trilogy, The Pianist.

Also:

City of God
What Dreams May Come

doubleshotespresso · 13/05/2020 16:39

Nil by mouth
The Pianist
I, Daniel Blake
Girl interrupted
The Book thief

SweetPetrichor · 13/05/2020 16:41

For me it has to be Viharsarok (Land of Storms). It's a Hungarian film and the ended had me utterly rocked...I had to immediately watch it again.

suggestionsplease1 · 13/05/2020 16:42

'Profound' is a big ask of a film! I'll go for 'Portrait of a Lady on Fire'

fizzandchips · 13/05/2020 16:43

La vita è bella - simply the most profound film ever made.
Agree with lots of other suggestions above. Going to make a lockdown list of films to watch again.

suggestionsplease1 · 13/05/2020 16:43

O, and 'Synechdoche, New York'

AragornsManlyStubble · 13/05/2020 16:45

Haachi- had me in pieces. I couldn’t speak.
Pearl Harbor- first film I had ever watched that really really made me cry and when I thought it couldn’t get sadder, it did.
Steel Magnolias- it just sums up life to me, it’s all there in that film. The happy, the sad, the humour and the anger. It’s beautiful.

DKanin · 13/05/2020 16:52

The green mile
Shutter island
A beautiful mind
The road
The others
When I was younger- the Truman show
