angelsonbareskin · 13/05/2020 13:27

Hedgehog44 · 13/05/2020 13:28

wizzbangfizz · 13/05/2020 13:28

The Magdelene sisters

Boiledeggandtoast · 13/05/2020 13:28

I would also add The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser.

DollyDoneMore · 13/05/2020 13:29

Toy Story 2. Amazing things to say about parenthood, loyalty, trust, heartbreak and how to live your life.

Dita73 · 13/05/2020 13:29

@Fanthorpe I remember watching Whistle Down The Wind as a child and it was the first film I’d seen that ever made me want to cry. Trouble was I was too embarrassed to cry in front of my parents so I went in the bathroom and sobbed. I can remember it so clearly. Beautiful film

foggybits · 13/05/2020 13:30

High five @hedgehog44

averythinline · 13/05/2020 13:30

21 grams, - had to go straight to teh bar and have a large drink after...

All about my mother (watched it on a plane and was in floods of snotty tears...the poor bugger sitting in front of me was concerned enough to ask if I was ok!)

Apocalypse Now- the size and the music as part of a film

Rumblefish, Fight Club - just seemed so different

West side story- the only musical I've ever liked!

ErickBroch · 13/05/2020 13:31

Three Billboards is a recent film - fantastic

ZsaZsaMc · 13/05/2020 13:31

Cathy Come Home

Was on TV maybe 4 years ago and broke me! This was pre kids so not sure I could watch it now

MellowBird85 · 13/05/2020 13:31

Amistad
12 Years a Slave
The Colour Purple
Shawshank Redemption
Selma
The Butler
(Hm there’s a theme here...)

And yes, Good Will Hunting Smile

FOJN · 13/05/2020 13:31

Changing Lanes

MellowBird85 · 13/05/2020 13:32

@wizzbangfizz ah The Magdalene Sisters...forgot about that one. Brilliant film.

Lucked · 13/05/2020 13:33

They shoot horses don’t they?

Never watching it again!

LuckyBitches · 13/05/2020 13:33

And When Did You Last See Your Father?

Profoundly moving for those of us with Daddy issues.

Spoorloos, the original (Flemish?) version of The Vanishing. Perhaps the most profoundly horrifying film I've ever seen.

I also found Babel moving, something to do with loneliness and bad luck.

Dipi79 · 13/05/2020 13:34

Battleship Potemkin

Malteserdiet · 13/05/2020 13:34

Can I also add:

Long Walk To Freedom
Pili
The Boy Who Harnesed The Wind

SummerHouse · 13/05/2020 13:36

Yes @Dita73

I worked in a cinema when Magnolia came out. It's the film that I remember the most people walking out before the end. Me, I was glued and mesmerized. Simply never seen anything like it. So many people have never heard of it. I think it was a masterpiece.

wonderrotunda · 13/05/2020 13:36

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Recommended for people in the long term relationship (yearly!) to remind yourself that you can be irritated but that doesn’t erase love

FTMF30 · 13/05/2020 13:39

The Magadalene Sisters
The Wire (not a film but the last season and episode really moved me).
