And The Book Thief. Definitely a theme emerging here. I wouldn't think of Forrest Gump as deep but I suppose it had lots of good messages.

I love Shawshank. I rewatched with two teen girls last week, they were really reluctant at first (and we had to warn them to perhaps turn away at certain very upsetting scenes plus ignore the swearing), but seeing their tear-filled faces at the end, both proclaiming it was the best film they’d ever seen - that was really life-affirming for me.

Loads of the above so I'll add A Fault in our Stars and Beaches. Both about friendship and loss.

@wonderrotunda Yes! I found it so moving.

I recently watched an Indian film calls '96 and it destroyed me! Two teenagers fall in love but don't end up together due to series of misundersandings. 20 years later they meet at a school reunion and have one night to be with each other only. Then they go back to their usual lives. It's heartbreaking! I actually shouted 'What? No!' when it ended with them leaving each other at the airport.
