saggybottom · 14/05/2020 17:30

Marriage Story's pretty moving

LikeDuhWhatever · 14/05/2020 17:33

Duel. An early Spielberg masterpiece.

chubbylover78 · 14/05/2020 17:34

Downfall (2004) amazing acting from Bruno Ganz

Lincolnfield · 14/05/2020 17:37

Green book - really makes you think about racism and hypocrisy in USA.

Kes - because I nursed the author Barry Hines before he sadly died from very advanced dementia. So sad for such a talented writer.

And the one that always makes me sob is Dumbo, the original cartoon. I defy anyone to watch the scene where he goes to see Mrs Jumbo in the Wild elephant cage and not weep.

Faeryfly · 14/05/2020 17:43

Walkabout.

cavalier · 14/05/2020 17:44

Oh my goodness yes Dumbo Lincolnfield
I was pregnant 33 years ago with eldest child and didn’t know and I sobbed and still sob all these years later lol

Taliya · 14/05/2020 17:44

Spohies Choice - starting Meryl Streep.

Taliya · 14/05/2020 17:46

And The Killing Fields.

Pinkarsedfly · 14/05/2020 17:46

The Arrival. Where Amy Adams has her daughter, despite knowing she will lose her.

It’s that maternal drive, the hope it brings, and the unconditional love. I sobbed and sobbed.

[spoiler alert - from MNHQ]

StormBaby · 14/05/2020 17:48

Into the wild

Gwenhwyfar · 14/05/2020 17:52

"I spent the whole film wishing he would have just contacted Citizens Advice, we would have helped him sort it out grin"

And spend two hours waiting on the phone lol.

GoodGirlsGuide · 14/05/2020 17:52

I, Daniel Blake - but only because it was a recommendation on a other very similar Mumsnet thread. And it was fantastic!

Roughasabadgersbum · 14/05/2020 17:53

Definitely rabbit proof fence
Seven pounds
The boy in the striped pyjamas
I cry at them all ....everytime Blush

Byebye1to1 · 14/05/2020 17:53

Babe. Amazing triumph over adversity!

Shell4429 · 14/05/2020 17:54

A Beautiful Mind, The Theory of Everything, The Imitation Game. The Shining is the film that I was most affected by, frightening and profound in that it was such a fantastic portrayal by Jack Nicholson of a man losing his mind.

PrivateSpidey · 14/05/2020 17:57

Philomena
The Grapes of Wrath
Modern Times
To Kill A Mockingbird

And yes to Silkwood Graphista, I watched that for part of my degree - 20-odd years ago, never forgotten it.

Pinkarsedfly · 14/05/2020 18:01

ArriettyJones sorry. It’s been out a while, though.

ArriettyJones · 14/05/2020 18:04
