I'm still not too keen on getting cov19 .
Anyone?
Social experiment might be slightly dramatic but more people will become infected and I think he's putting the economy before us. 😔

It's a disaster. The r rate will rocket and we'll be in lock down again. Schools will not open.

Lockdown is being slowly eased because we can't hide away indefinitely. Feel free to stay home watching the economy tank if you want. Personally, I am not that worried about catching it and am one of the ones in a position to get the economy moving again.

I am concerned that we will be precipitating a second peak because tracing/isolating doesn't seem to be ready.

The countries which has successfully dampened their outbreak down for now have had that firmly in place before any lifting of any restrictions.

Further peaks would be even worse for the economy (as even 'heartless ' 'nasty' Tories say) and it's obvious it would be a human tragedy.

Still, we'll know whether the government has made a good choice in 2-3 weeks

People who are government employees don’t want to work normally but have their money coming in regardless. The self employed have nothing. Millions could be unemployed. Millions need to work. Millions need their child care in place. The economy is about people working and earning money. Their taxes pay for services. People need to work. A devastated economy leads to deaths too! Plus worsening mental health. Yes, we do need to make this work.

I understand your thinking OP but although very wary we have to move our arses to make the country work again, They can't pay us to stay at home forever they just can't do it. And more to the point they won't do it nor should they.If we are not making the money they have no money to spend.I have children and I am so ready for all of us to get back to school and work.My husband has been working throughout the crisis and his mental health is far better for doing so than ours is.As for social experiment I think that was done over the weekend with the VE celebrations.Most of the country adapted and engaged with the governments advice.Thats what we need.The idiots who flouted every rule made up a percenage that was expected. The thing with this virus is it is here,its not going anywhere and we have to learn to live with it ,like flu,like pnuemonia ,we cannot cure it YET if at all,So we have to get on with it.We just do..its hard,its scary but it is doable. I am usually very risk adverse but I want our country to return as much as possible and I will engage,so will my children and we will wash our hands,cover our mouths and get on with it.We have to....

Ridiculous. Where is your money coming from? Where is your food coming from? If it is coming from somewhere you are reliant on someone else going outside while you shelter inside. That is ignoring the fact that there is minimal risk to the under 45s from this virus.

Fair enough to shelter if you are in your 70s but for healthy young adults to hide inside while their future and that of their children is destroyed is madness. We have to learn to live with this and that means getting slowly back to normal.

are you completely self sufficient, or do you rely on an income from work or other sources? Unless you produce your own food, electricity, water supply, wool for making clothes, never travel anywhere, never need doctors or schools, and much more, then you are part of this "economy". Either we keep it going, or we all die without it. The virus is the minor threat in that scenario.

Some of us have been out working throughout this, is that ok for us to just carry on then while you stay home? I'm not particularly keen on having Covid either. But while it doesn't affect you personally it's just dandy...

@Bloomburger I don't think teachers care about pay at this point. I think they're more concerned with keeping everyone safe. Schools have a duty of care to both children and staff and so they have to say if they don't think they can operate safely.

Have you noticed that "Stay Alert" notice is green on yellow, whereas the previous one was red on yellow? Basic subliminal messaging to get people to breach lockdown and distancing. Dickhead and Dom are going to make us infect each other, then blame us.

The risk is still real. The government set out 5 tests to meet before it eased lockdown & none of them has been met. The only way to get us out of this (ahead of a vaccine) is test, track & trace. They're not doing it. You can revive an economy in time, you can't revive the dead. Be angry at this government not frightened workers.

The government need to prepare for the chance there never will be a vaccine or that there will be one but 3 years down the line there is a new pandemic. I don't envy the choices they have to make to keep the country going at this time.

While the pandemic is new though the risk policies have a long history. We could save thousands of lives by banning cars but that would (at least in the short term) screw up the economy and people's lifestyles so we don't.

I don't want to catch Covid, but if I do then the odds are I won't become seriously ill. I need to go back to work to pay bills and put food on the table. "The economy" affects us all. I'm more concerned about losing my job and DS and I ending up in poverty.

Why can’t they use the same model app as other countries?
I can see that this would enable track and trace and potentially stop a 2nd wave.
Why can’t we use buy one from
Asia. Why do we mess around making our own.
