AIBU to solve the mystery of the flappy gusset?

So I noticed that some of my knickers from M&S have a rather strange gusset feature, in that it is not sewn in around all four edges leaving a rather odd pocket at the front. This troubled me greatly as my life is fairly dull and empty, so I decided to have a knicker gusset comparison study with my other underwear purchased from other companies. Most of the other pantage from other vendors had the gusset sewn in properly. What is the mystery pocket that M&S has kindly added actually for? AIBU for wanting to know the purpose of this odd little flap (pun intended)?

in my club going days we used to use them to smuggle illegals into clubs. No-one checked down there :-)

I thought for a moment you were talking about another sort of illegal....

This thread has really cheered me up. Thanks Flowers

Another fine example of being so open minded your brains are falling out. The women’s underwear is no longer made with women’s bodies in mind.

PhoneLock · 15/05/2020 18:13

I am impressed, I have never in my nearly 60 years ever heard of anyone making their own knickers!

I made several pairs of patriotic thongs from the bunting left over from VE day.

These hideous knickers seem popular with the men but I can't tell whether the gusset is floating.

Bananabixfloof · 15/05/2020 18:23

Iirc Rosie Huntington Whiteley had a underwear line with m and s, very much liked by men.
Wonder if she knows?
The reviews were amusing and vomit inducing in unequal measure.
I wont buy knickers from m and s or single knickers anywhere. Unopened multipacks is all now.

WrathoFaeKIopp · 15/05/2020 18:28

And no, those reviews by males trying on thongs are still there.

Despite those reviews being reported as inappropriate, which they are.
M&S are actively encouraging this by allowing reviews to stand.
Shame on you M&S.

All women should read the M&S lingerie reviews because they will be better informed as to who is in the changing room next to your mother or daughter.

pussycatinboots · 15/05/2020 18:31

Melroses That's awful. Maybe we should review all of the mens undercrackers and complain they are too spacious in the ball room department!

1forAll74 · 15/05/2020 18:44

Never noticed this, but might be to keep a condom in for emergencies. If all the knickers are made in China, they might be making them too quickly, to get more done on their busy shifts.

BubblyBarbara · 15/05/2020 18:47

You can store a tampon in there in case of emergencies

Clymene · 15/05/2020 19:02

Oh god the grim reviews. I'd forgotten about those. Wasn't there one bloke who said he'd tried them on and returned them?

There was video of one man trying them on in the used to be womens change room (america) and tweets? Of men saying they wanked in them then put them back on the rail. Hence I will never buy singles again. Only unopened packets. And I'm tempted to take a black light for them too.

DateLoaf · 15/05/2020 19:42

It’s an old fashioned thing to let you tuck your tampon string into isn’t it- with the gusset tunnel opening at the vag/back end of the gusset.

So have they reversed the gusset tunnel to accommodate flaccid cocks to be tucked in from above? Really? Did they focus-group that on tampon-string-tuckers? How are they marketing this and who to? Confused

ArbitraryNameChange · 15/05/2020 19:49

None of my pants have said aperture, however if they did I would keep a snack sized Pepperami in it.

EngagedAgain · 15/05/2020 21:34

I'd keep a giant salami in it! 😂😂

Wilmalovescake · 15/05/2020 21:37

Am I the only one who really can’t cope with Conor And His Floating Gusset??!

LaPufalina · 16/05/2020 08:39

Not bought knickers (or much else) from M&S since I found out about the penis-tucking last year Sad that, along with the changing room debacle. I bloody loved M&S before mumsnet ruined it for me Grin

StarintheMorning · 16/05/2020 09:04

Still boycotting M&S over this issue, and changing rooms. I used to spend a lot of money there. Can’t say I miss it tbh.

Bananabixfloof · 19/05/2020 16:31

Just a quick update, baroness Nicholson is on the case of the changing gender changing rooms. Even she cant do anything about men wanking in knickers and putting them back up for sale, but am pretty sure if they have to do it in the mens change room and walk through the store with the "prize" they will be less inclined.

Joisanofthedales · 19/05/2020 17:44

Still boycotting due to M and S allowing men into the womens changing room and an inability to keep my dinner down when contemplating buying knickers that may have been wanked on and put back on the rail.

Rubyupbeat · 19/05/2020 17:46

I keep my spare coins in it....

Bananabixfloof · 19/05/2020 18:15

Oh I'm going to boycott them for a lot longer jois
I just wanted to update for those who may be curious.

NearlyGranny · 19/05/2020 18:41

"... a grown on floating gusset..."

Words I had never thought to encounter together inside a sentence. 🤣
