I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

@StealthPolarBear public toilets are already open around here.

GrimmsFairytales · 10/05/2020 19:17

Do you want them all sent back at once??

My point was it doesn't help parents go back to work if they're still having to look after siblings or children in those year groups.

FraughtwithGin · 10/05/2020 19:17

OK, why quarantine only for people arriving by air, why not also by sea or via the Channel tunnel?

Utterlydespairing · 10/05/2020 19:17

Honest to god. Are people deliberately being obtuse? You wanted a road map and he gave us one. It was clear. If you don’t understand it then I’m sorry but you’re dim. I’m embarrassed for you

MintyChapstick · 10/05/2020 19:17

Good luck trying to keep reception class aged children socially distanced!

meow1989 · 10/05/2020 19:17

Thank goodness we can sunbathe again, that's surely been the biggest tragedy of lockdown.

Absolute rubbish. The 5 alerts are actually a good idea for Joe public to understand the risk but they ruined it with the bloody swingometer.

So can households mix or should we still stay apart? Mumsnet alone shows that if you're not absolutely clear about the "rules" people will interpret differently.

Ipadipod · 10/05/2020 19:17

So can all shops open ? He said if you can go to work then you should, does that mean shops ?

kateandme · 10/05/2020 19:17

spent about the shortest time on the most important fucking bit at the moment only WITHIN YOUR OWN HOUSEHOLD!!!

Aragog · 10/05/2020 19:17

Jilljams - I would have assumed that year 11 and 13 have totally finished school for this year now. No reason for them to return. Exams would have started this month and they'd be at least half way through by the beginning of June. So they'd have been on study leave soon anyway.

You'd have thought year 10 and 12 would have been higher priority that reception and year 1.

Frlrlrubert · 10/05/2020 19:18

@jill

Year 11 are done, we're making up their grades.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 10/05/2020 19:18

So DH can go to work (where social distancing is impossible!) but I can't go for a picnic with my sister, or visit my mum. I just don't see the logic in any of this. It's ridiculous

Hoggleludo · 10/05/2020 19:18

What an utter load of bollocks!!!!

YummyVeggie · 10/05/2020 19:18

Will toilets and car parks open now?

Shahira78 · 10/05/2020 19:18

No real change then. Oh dear!

Jellykat · 10/05/2020 19:18

Seems it's all slightly different here in Wales, watching the Welsh summary atm. Confused

1forsorrow · 10/05/2020 19:18

He's like a Poundland Winston Churchill isnt he? I think that is insulting to Poundland.

Sandybval · 10/05/2020 19:18

It was basically saying businesses who have closed when they did not have to should reopen, people can go out for exercise as much as they like, including sitting down outdoors (which people have been doing anyway) with higher fines for breaches; and an insight into possible relaxations in the coming weeks. No date on the quarantine of people travelling into the country, or even exactly how it will be implemented- but seemed quite clear to me.

StealthPolarBear · 10/05/2020 19:18

"Not clear about the travelling, is that any distance I wonder or local or ???"
I'll be limited by toilet availability :)

AravisTarkheena · 10/05/2020 19:18

oh fgs what was the point in teasing that for a week.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 19:18

Yes not much change it was only the media saying it would change .

If the rate of infection continues to fall and only if then there is a plan .

The only problem I can see is children getting back to work is childcare .

Bookoffacts · 10/05/2020 19:18

Told you schools would be open 1st June ☺☺
Very pleased as I have a year 6 child. Xx

yorkshireteaspoonie · 10/05/2020 19:19

So you can go back to work... but not if you work In shops / hospitality as they don’t open until July earliest. Oh and you can't take a bus or a train to get there anyway

Nb89 · 10/05/2020 19:19

BBC Wales are saying that the Welsh Government have cinfirmed that although people in England can drive they can't drive over the border into Wales. It's possibly the same for Scotland as well maybe.
There is some concern English people may not be aware if the different rules.

yearinyearout · 10/05/2020 19:19

Great, I'm now allowed to sit on a bench.

GetOutOfThereHoggle · 10/05/2020 19:19

Bit of clear info.. still LOTS of questions unanswered... maybe we'll hear more tomorrow.
No way am I sending my reception kid back if I've still got my year 3 child at home too.. that's a bit nuts...
