I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

OP posts:
JimMaxwellantheshippingforcast · 10/05/2020 20:28

I think the back to work message is just wanting people to use the furlough scheme as they intended for it to be used.
Not by all and sundry who could otherwise have kept people working

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:29

@LittleFoxKit

But only with social distancing and that is what most people on here were moaning about . So people get what they were asking for and now that’s not correct either.

daisychain01 · 10/05/2020 20:29

Actually I'm very upset because Boris didn't address me personally.
Surely he must know that my own particular circumstances need to be addressed immediately

Grin @forgetthehousework the amount of people on here admitting that they didn't bother listening to what the Prime Minister said, but then go on to have a winge about how they don't understand, why hasn't he mentioned xyz, what about meeeeeee.

It's fine, he's doing a Corona Roadshow starting tomorrow to explain everything in minute detail to each and every one of us. Should be done by the time they've developed the vaccine!

daisychain01 · 10/05/2020 20:31

The fact that this thread is now running at 22 pages of questions and interpretation suggests it is not clear enough

Or more likely, most people could argue in an empty room.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:31

@Tailsoftheunexpected

No not true . People were just not listening .

He said more details tomorrow

He can’t cover every individual business in the whole country .

Social distancing still in place .

Stay at home not appropriate IF you can get back to work and your employer has taken precautions.

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:31

@SusieOwl4 but realistically it wont stay "socially distanced" you cant physically fit a quatre of the families/people who dont have a garden in cities into the minimal green space available. Even before this the pictures of beaches/green spaces showed people were not following social distancing, and for a lot of people it will now justify it.
"There wasnt space to sit 2 minutes from the next person, but we are ENTITLED to sit outside so were not moving" etc etc

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:32

@daisychain01. ..... hilarious 😂

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:32

2 meters not minites

Fromthebirdsnest · 10/05/2020 20:32

There will be a second peak now. , I wish people would.be sensible I have a huge park by my house I can see from my window it was absolutely packed Saturday , no one was 2 meters apart it will just get worse and I feel for.everyone that lives by the sea as people will flock there .. It's so worrying I'm shielding my children.will not be back at school.on.June the 1st x

meow1989 · 10/05/2020 20:33

I remain angry and have the following qyesions:

How many high earning jobs can't be done from home I wonder? Or is it going to be the working and lower middle class having to put themselves at risk almost exclusively?

Who will provide the child care for the above cohort if they're not defined as key workers?

What is the current r rate? .5 to .9 is a massive range.

The death rate was lower when lockdown started, why are we relaxing now?

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:34

You cant say people need to stay home, then change the message from "stay home and save lives" to "stay alert, control the virus", tell people they can take unlimited exercise, sit in parks for as long as they want, drive for indefinite periods of time for exercise (or to sit in a park/beach/mountain) and then say stay home. It dosent work and gives conflicting messages.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:34

@LittleFoxKit

So you go to a park and it’s crowded , what do you do ?

Now you can leave and come back because you can get fresh air more than once a day .

If people abuse that the criteria chart may change and as he said we will move backwards and go back to square 1

BlackberryCane · 10/05/2020 20:35

Absolutely tails. Setting aside the obvious politicking here from certain quarters, saying that it should be clear and you don't get why people don't understand it completely fails to take into account that a lot of people genuinely do struggle with anything that isn't very clearly set out. Half the population has a below average IQ. Some people struggle with reading, comprehension, processing, all kinds of things that might make this more difficult to get their heads round. There's no shame in that.

Whether some people on a website that skews more privileged than average feel justified in sneering that it's all very clear shouldn't actually be the standard here.

changemynamechangemynamewhen · 10/05/2020 20:35

@daisychain oh yes!

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:36

@LittleFoxKit

So individuals can’t use common sense about risk minimisation that’s what you are accusing the general public of ?

justasking111 · 10/05/2020 20:36

@SusieOwl4

Mr Drakeford warned anyone thinking of travelling to beaches or mountains that they will be stopped and sent home.

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 20:37

If you cannot get childcare, you cant work.
If you cant work from home but CAN work SAFELY via workplace, then do so.

foreversville · 10/05/2020 20:37

@blackberrycane so true. Why shame people that are struggling to understand what really wasn't clear? The government has a duty to all their citizens - some people on here aren't happy unless they're above someone.

forgetthehousework · 10/05/2020 20:37

or more likely, most people could argue in an empty room

Is this a variation of "if you ask three MN's what they think you'll get at least four different opinions"?

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:38

But the problem is people are ALREADY ignoring the lockdown measures, sitting in parks less then 2 meters away before this was announced! So we should have already been getting stricter.

Personally I think that others have started questioning boris authority and ability to run the country as people where ignoring him, so all hes done is allow what people were doing anyway, so he can say but I said it was okay! Rather then people seeing that no one was listening and ignoring his guidence as it was utterly wishy washy to begin with!

ThankyouPeter · 10/05/2020 20:38

By not mentioning the opening of garden centres it has made some people realise that the press might not know what the are talking about and that they should take what's written with a pinch of salt. A deliberate move by the government I would think!

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:38

@BlackberryCane

I don’t think it’s sneering .

I think it was clearer than people are making out

He said more details and questions answered tomorrow

Politics will always come to a head even when it’s a worldwide crisis .

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 20:38

There are a lot of unscrupulous employers who will be deciding what is safe or not... that is a worry.

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 20:41

"Mr Drakeford warned anyone thinking of travelling to beaches or mountains that they will be stopped and sent home."

Omg..he was clearly talking about people travelling from England to these places, or a fair distance, to avoid all the traffic at places like Snowden again. He didnt mean anybody at all. Wales is full of beaches and mountains. So clearly if you live in Wales, local to a beach or mountain, you can go there!!!!

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:41

@justasking111

Yes I would think that it’s just common sense .

You don’t travel an hour to walk your dog for 20 miniutes .

It’s not necessary . Same as before really think about car accidents etc and trying to keep pressure on the nhs to a minimum
