I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

@worriedandannoyed

You have a very screeny and combative world view. Why attack people with nursery aged children who are wondering how they will look after tgeir kids with closed setting after they are forced back to work.
LIKE EVERYONE WITH CARING RESPONSIBILITIES!

For those of us that have nursery aged children, it is very much a priority for us. They aren't bottom of the pile - the capacity for learning a preschoolers Hal's is quite unmatched. Clearly you know nothing about early years education.

My child learns at nursery as well, moreover I actually pay for their education.

We still have to work too as home educating - you can't dump a pre schooler in front of Minecraft.

TabbyMumz

BBC quote from Nicola Sturgeon-
"We should not be reading about each others plans for the first time in newspapers, and decisions that are taken for one nation only, for good evidence based reasons, should not be presented as if they apply UK wide"

BlackberryCane · 10/05/2020 20:19

Because some of these comments sound like the daily fail

Yeah, the ones unconvincingly trying to detract from legitimate criticism of Boris Johnson do have a whiff of a right wing rag comments section about them.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:19

@LittleFoxKit

I would imagine that would be the same for England tbh because if the criteria are not met because people don’t listen then schools won’t open .

justasking111 · 10/05/2020 20:19

Wales also said you cannot visit beaches or mountains both of which we are surrounded by ironically. It is tougher in Wales who believe we are behind England in the curve so will have to wait longer despite being locked down the same day sigh....

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:19

@SusieOwl4 pretty certain he said you can drive unlimited amounts for exercise. And sit in the park, and unlimited exercise.

Bathroom12345 · 10/05/2020 20:20

Forget. I think some on this thread just don’t get it. Sitting on a park bench with DH. No one will come and sit next to us! Have a big family party with lots of mixing of people for hours on end isn’t good but already an Asian friend of mine who is desperate to celebrate her son’s engagement is now planning a party for 200!

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 20:21

I doubt Boris has to ask her permission to change a slogan.

MarthasGinYard · 10/05/2020 20:21

@SusieOwl4 pretty certain he said you can drive unlimited amounts for exercise. And sit in the park, and unlimited exercise.'

Certainly how it sounded to me too.

Waiting for my beautiful village to again be over run by day trippers.

Mamamia456 · 10/05/2020 20:21

Minnie me - I think it's just a question of doing things to minimise the risk of spreading the virus so maybe getting the workmen to bring flasks of tea, keeping areas where they are working well ventilated, maintaining 2 metres distance, paying by bank transfer, that kind of thing,

daisychain01 · 10/05/2020 20:21

All the posters confused about whether they can return to work, please engage with your employer! It is 100% their responsibility to ensure you have a safe workplace if they want you to return to work. They have to put steps in place at your workplace to ensure social distancing and good hygiene.

It may not happen tomorrow or even the next day, but your employer is the only one who can tell you how they will enact what Boris Johnson has said are the next steps in the adjustment to the Lock-down. The PM is not going to tell you personally how this affects you. Your employer will.

spongedog · 10/05/2020 20:22

Actually i cried. My poor mum - 85 years old - has been self-isolating for weeks - always fit and active. Now months more. The pressure of keeping these lovely oldies going, not just with food, but with entertainment, interest etc just got to me. I think many will give up and die - not from CV19 but from the withdrawal of their life.

Of course people need to go back to work - if our economy totally fails that is no good for anyone. So that was a good message. But sunbathing isnt really essential so that type of behaviour does need to be absolutely reduced.

justasking111 · 10/05/2020 20:22

Did you notice the bit about fines. I wonder if they will go up in value so it will be a fine in line with Italy?

Those who violate the containment measures could receive a fine of between €400 (£360) and €3,000 (£2,700); a significant increase from the previous maximum fine of €206 (£187).

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:22

@BlackberryCane

I don’t care which way the daily mail are politically their reporting on the virus has been appalling , absolutely appalling .

On one day they said people don’t have antibodies and then on the same day blamed the government for not testing for antibodies .

And that is just one tiny example .

I think at the moment headlines or the latest news is their criteria not facts .

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:22

@justasking111 Wales arent that far behind, they have pretty much the same R value as england currently. So if wales is just at the peak now I'd say they're doing pretty well!

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 20:23

"Wales also said you cannot visit beaches or mountains both of which we are surrounded by ironically. It is tougher in Wales who believe we are behind England in the curve so will have to wait longer despite being locked down the same day sigh...."
Wales has not said that. You can drive to somewhere locally. If a mountain or beach is local to you, of course you can go there . Beaches and mountains arent closed full stop. That would be impossible for a start.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:23

@justasking111

Yes I hope so . And in Italy you have to have a Certificate to say you are travelling for work .

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 20:24

I wonder how the Daily Mail will shame people now?

Bathroom12345 · 10/05/2020 20:24

Sturgeon is all about ID2. There is NOTHING more important to her and she wants to do anything that shows Scotland is different. Having said that big family and friends parties will increase the R rate.

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 20:24

The lack of opportunity for many black communities can result in high crime rates...
Racists then use this as an argument that 'blacks are criminals'.

If they didn't have a lack of opportunity and instead excelled in society, the racists would use a different argument like they do with Jews... saying 'they are money grabbing' etc.

Racists always find an excuse.

Figgygal · 10/05/2020 20:24

The daily mail promised me garden centres
Surely they wouldn’t lie

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:24

Of course people need to go back to work - if our economy totally fails that is no good for anyone. So that was a good message. But sunbathing isnt really essential so that type of behaviour does need to be absolutely reduced.

Not according to boris it dosent! Parks/beaches/beauty spots are going to become over run with the latest guidelines!

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:27

@spongedog I really sympathise . But we have lost 4 members of our extended family to this virus and I would not wish that on anyone .

Also one thing that is not being reported too much is the long term health problems who do have the virus and survive .

Tbh there is no 100% right answer.

Tailsoftheunexpected · 10/05/2020 20:27

There is absolutely NO room for ambiguity or points being open to interpretation in a public health message. The fact that this thread is now running at 22 pages of questions and interpretation suggests it is not clear enough. So there is no room for argument thingd needed setting out in bullet points with no waffle and in exceptionally simple language. Someone upthread said pp’s lacked critical thinking skills. There is no room for critical thinking in a message like this.
