TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 20:10

So much for the daily mails article saying garden centres would open in England.

Halli2020 · 10/05/2020 20:10

Think it’s all a con

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 20:11

@Peppafrig

From the Scottish Government Website:
Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople carrying out repairs and maintenance, can continue, provided that the tradesperson is well and is not showing coronavirus symptoms and neither they nor any of their household are self-isolating. Again, it will be important to ensure that a 2 metre distance from any household occupants is maintained for everyone’s safety

justasking111 · 10/05/2020 20:11

Garden centres can open check your local fb pages, ours are set to open next week.

redsky21 · 10/05/2020 20:12

I only wanted to know about nurseries, I work in one. Obviously there is absolutely no way to practice social distancing, so how can we go back safely?

Peppafrig · 10/05/2020 20:12

@VerticalHorizon exactly repairs and maintenance only.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:12

Did some people actually watch the announcement ?

I despair .

Focusanddetermination · 10/05/2020 20:13

I really would have liked a lot more from him about the nearly 32000 dead. Contriteness. An apology to the British people. An admission other countries have far surpassed us and we have much to learn by looking to their lead. For example.

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 20:13

"Garden centres can open check your local fb pages, ours are set to open next week."

Are you in England? Boris didnt mention garden centres,

ChampionRabbit · 10/05/2020 20:14

This is the end of lockdown etc. The police cannot possibly control what happens from this week. People who keep talking about about common sense have obviously bit been outside for a while...

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:14

I think the media are infiltrating MN

Because some of these comments sound like the daily fail

lilgreen · 10/05/2020 20:14

Nothing about garden centres.

MinnieMe1 · 10/05/2020 20:14

What would essential work be classed as? We really need the council to out us this shower room in for disabled DS. I cant physically shower him now and he needs to get the wheelchair in the bathroom but there is no space. Hes 5 and in nappies so needs a suitable shower room

forgetthehousework · 10/05/2020 20:14

Actually I'm very upset because Boris didn't address me personally.
Surely he must know that my own particular circumstances need to be addressed immediately.

GulliBelle · 10/05/2020 20:14

So today you couldn't drive for exercise because you might crash and NHS resources would be redirected, and someone could die because of your selfishness (soutce, threads on Mumsnet) but now it's ok.
See also, going out for exercise more than once a day.

If

slashlover · 10/05/2020 20:14

@redsky21

I only wanted to know about nurseries, I work in one. Obviously there is absolutely no way to practice social distancing, so how can we go back safely?

Were not mentioned so nothing changes.

Peppafrig · 10/05/2020 20:14

@MinnieMe1 that would surely come under essential .

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 20:15

So much for the daily mails article saying garden centres would open in England.

I know. That was trailed a lot

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:16

@ChampionRabbit did you hear the bit about increasing fines ??????

Social distancing between households has not changed

They are only talking about working

Jeez if the rate of infection increases it will be obvious why .

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:16

It's worth remembering this is only for England though.
Wales have said lockdown will continue as before but you can exercise more and garden centres will open, but I imagine only for essential visits (but not unlimited, you cant sit around in parks, and you cant drive for miles and miles and have to exercise close to home). Wales have also stated that as currently there is no plan to open schools on first of June, and they will open when it becomes safe.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 20:18

@GulliBelle

It was only driving to work and exercise . What did you hear that said anything different ? Still trying to minimise stress on the nhs

LittleFoxKit · 10/05/2020 20:18

@MinnieMe1 pretty sure that would have been classed as essential even during lockdown long as no one was shielding

VerticalHorizon · 10/05/2020 20:18

@Peppafrig
I'm lost... the question asked was 'Can workmen come into your house if the 2 metre is adhered to and we stay alert?' and I said 'they always could'... even in Scotland.

I've interpreted workmen to be trades, maybe you've interpreted that as some other form?

cardibach · 10/05/2020 20:18

What happened to working together??

They do that every day...they are all in the cobr meeting? Why did you think they wouldnt be doing so?

@TabbyMumz well, Sturgeon saying that was the first she’d heard of the new slogans gave me a bit of a clue...

forgetthehousework · 10/05/2020 20:19

MinnieMe1, sorry cross posted with you.
I do think you need your shower room, just hope the council do as well.
