I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

OP posts:
GrimmsFairytales · 10/05/2020 19:45

I work in a school, (not teacher) my ds is in year 2, what am I supposed to do

Absolutely no idea. Unless they're still allowing key worker children to attend school regardless of their year.

cushioncovers · 10/05/2020 19:45

Choma he was clear, he said manufacturing and construction.
So now its essential jobs ( which it's always been) and manufacturing and construction and that's it.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 10/05/2020 19:46

I'm not quite sure what some posters on here think Boris is able to do. Maybe find some magic potion to give us all immunity? He is doing the very best he can in the circumstances - just tell me, who could do better?

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 19:46

My daughter just rang me and said why are people so dumb they can’t understand what he is saying .

That just about sums it up .

Honestly .

Noextremes2017 · 10/05/2020 19:46

Anybody remember Norman Tebbitt?

Get on your bike.

Focusanddetermination · 10/05/2020 19:46

BlackberryCane yes. So what happens if someone's employer demands they return this week and they are unable to add kids at home, so easy to foresee people losing jobs this way.

Focusanddetermination · 10/05/2020 19:46

*as not add

MarthasGinYard · 10/05/2020 19:46

Only just watched it

Very ambiguous re can travel to take exercise. Doesn't state how far etc.

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 19:46

Did he mention nuseries ? I can't find it
No he didnt. So you can go to a nursery in Wales, but not England.

vanillandhoney · 10/05/2020 19:46

So when he said people who can't work from home should go to work if they can - he should have been a bit clearer.

No, he's quite clearly referring to industries that haven't been forcibly closed by the state. Manufacturing, factories, construction etc.

Non-essential shops have been closed by the government and must remain so until told otherwise.

HomerDancing · 10/05/2020 19:47

Oh Jesus! Hairdressers, nail salons, and the like cannot safely social distance, they should not be reopening!

Hairdressers are not manufacturers as someone said up thread.

Non essential shops and services like hair dresses should not be reopening.

How on earth did people take that from his speech! Beggars belief.

Peppafrig · 10/05/2020 19:47

He isn't really giving people much notice to get to work in the morning. I'm guessing loads of workplaces have been issued with PPE since Friday so they can open tomorrow.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 10/05/2020 19:47

I'm confused can we go and see family?

Confused? Are they in your household? If not then NO!

It really was as clear as it can be in a situation that is still changing. Another thing that was clear was that if we fuck this up and mix with each other and the infection rate goes up we will be put back into harder lockdown.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 19:47

He said more details tomorrow as well .

Just be patient and avoid the media . They are the ones confusing you .

CodenameVillanelle · 10/05/2020 19:47

If you work in a school and there is nobody at home to look after your child then you can send them to school. Just as you have been able to do for the last 7 weeks!

Why is this even being asked?

Honeyroar · 10/05/2020 19:47

It was as clear as mud! “If you can’t work from home go to work”, so that covers shop workers etc, but then says shops won’t open until the next phase. So does my husband’s garage open or not??

As for the driving and being outside as much as you like, people are going to move around so much I can see infection rates definitely going up.

BubblyBarbara · 10/05/2020 19:48

You can’t go and see your family but you could go and “sunbathe in the park” at an agreed time and coincidentally end up two meters from each other. Which is what we’ll be doing.

crispysausagerolls · 10/05/2020 19:48

PMSL at people saying “Keir Steamer is disagreeing with Boris” - the leader of the opposition using this as a reason to disagree with the PM?! SHOCKER!!!! 😁😁 very easy for everyone to backseat drive and complain without any actual responsibility.

More details will come out tomorrow. He can’t go through a list of 100000 jobs for 7 hours to explain yes or no to each of them. It will come out tomorrow on gov. Website.

Also people whining about seeing friends and family not understanding that work is worth risks because of the economy but seeing family, if everyone does it, is massively dangerous with no benefit to the country.

GabsAlot · 10/05/2020 19:48

you just know people heard the word go oujt and sports will just meet others as already been asked on here

DarkDarkNight · 10/05/2020 19:48

People are pulling apart his speech but you need to watch it again as it was quite clear to me. Also he did say more details will be released tomorrow.

Why not give all the information before saying ‘go to work tomorrow’. If they have known all week that they were going to tell people to go back to work they should have gave notice for workplaces to start to prepare.

BeijingBikini · 10/05/2020 19:48

There is absolutely nothing stopping you driving to a park, sitting down for a picnic and your family/loved ones happening to also drive to that park for a picnic and sitting down 2m away from you.

BlackberryCane · 10/05/2020 19:48

Jeez some of the questions on here are unbelievable he hasn’t got a crystal ball he can only do small changes at a time

You can't possibly think the no crystal ball argument is remotely persuasive when he's literally just set out plans for the future. If you have a mechanism whereby you make plans for reception, that mechanism doesn't stop being available for Year 4.

Also, several year groups of children and staff going back to school and sectors reopening are not small changes. They probably involve millions of people in total.

Ipadipod · 10/05/2020 19:48

He said to go to work if you can’t work from home and mentioned manufacturing and construction but there are many work places that don’t come under those umbrellas and aren’t offices or shops either.

KuckFnows · 10/05/2020 19:49

The media are a disgrace.

Boris' message was very clear.

It really wasn't difficult to understand.

CodenameVillanelle · 10/05/2020 19:49

Very ambiguous re can travel to take exercise. Doesn't state how far etc

Because it doesn't really matter. The transmission risk outdoors when you keep distanced is low. The government won't be spoon feeding every small detail.
