I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

OP posts:
Smellbellina · 10/05/2020 19:41

Are hair salons counted as construction or manufacturing then ?

😂

Straycatstrut · 10/05/2020 19:41

He absolutely should have mentioned when you can visit family members. Is this also June 1st? So many people (me included) live alone/with their children and are absolutely going insane waiting for news on this. It SHOULD have been mentioned. I haven't socialised with another adult in 2 months now.

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 19:41

@larrygrylls

Did you want him to sit and list every business in the uk ?

The employers have had time to establish if they can adhere to social distancing and health and safety .

Maggie90 · 10/05/2020 19:41

I’m actually embarrassed for most people posting on here.

The nastiness is horrific!

Also, we are not children being told we’re not allowed to go and play with our friends. We are not waiting for somebody to change their mind. This is a bloody pandemic with a horrible virus sweeping the world!

Be sensible!! When the virus has calmed down to an appropriately safe level, we can start seeing friends and family again.

This is not Borris’s doing. It’s not for fun!! It’s crap for everybody. Virus’s give no craps about you being sad!

happyandsingle · 10/05/2020 19:42

Hes made everything so vague that if it all fucks up the blame will not be at his door.

Noextremes2017 · 10/05/2020 19:42

A total non event delivered by an egotistical twat.

Why does he think anyone wants to see him if he has nothing to say?

Unbelievable and totally predictable at the same time.

'Stay scared people and we'll continue to look important and control your lives'.

PS Conservative voter (before Johnson) here before I get accused by the Mumsnet Tory right wing mafia of being on the looney left.

Pelleas · 10/05/2020 19:42

Oh, well - the dog will be pleased at the resumption of his evening walk.

OneMomentInHistory · 10/05/2020 19:42

If he didn't mention it, it's not changing!

There was no way he could talk about lifting socialising guidelines - if he said you will be able to visit family in June, or July, we would all think we might as well do it now!

Not sure why everyone is panicking about going back to work tomorrow... surely that message was aimed at employers who closed unnecessarily. There was no instruction to close construction sites, now they're encouraged to open. It's also prepping for withdrawal of furlough - there's loads of people on furlough who could be working, and the government can't sustain that.

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 19:42

No. He said shops won't open until June 1st at the earliest

So when he said people who can't work from home should go to work if they can - he should have been a bit clearer.

BlackberryCane · 10/05/2020 19:42

Another area where it was in no way clear is what those working in industries Johnson hopes to reopen in July are supposed to do for childcare. Is the aim for childcare provisions to be able to reopen then? Both workers and employers in that sector need that information.

Jellykat · 10/05/2020 19:42

He really didn't stress enough that all the driving to beaches and for exercise is in England only.

We in Wales know you can still only drive locally as before, but those in England don't necessarily know that still applies here!

Whattheduck · 10/05/2020 19:42

Jeez some of the questions on here are unbelievable he hasn’t got a crystal ball he can only do small changes at a time
The BBC are re showing the speech I suggest some of you re watch it

Hollyhead · 10/05/2020 19:42

Nurseries are enterprises, you can’t do your job from home, I’d have thought they’ll be issued with guidance and then make their own decision whether to open or not based on what BJ just said.

Focusanddetermination · 10/05/2020 19:42

Smellbellina he knows perfectly well that people will therefore be crammed into public transport. Someone without a car isn't suddenly going to have one tomorrow morning.

CodenameVillanelle · 10/05/2020 19:43

If you don't have a car and you can't walk or cycle then you take public transport, obviously

midlifecrash · 10/05/2020 19:43

Who cares how far you can drive FFS. People have been told to go back to work with no detail about what protections will be in place and what their rights are if their employer refuses to implement them

Persiaclementine · 10/05/2020 19:43

I work in a school, (not teacher) my ds is in year 2, what am I supposed to do

MintyChapstick · 10/05/2020 19:44

He's getting torn apart on social media. Massive own goal I think.

Noextremes2017 · 10/05/2020 19:44

happayandsingle

Johnson never accepted responsibility for anything in his life.

PilatesBunny · 10/05/2020 19:44

Those asking about work, what he said paraphrasing was, ‘where possible, please work from home, but where working from home is absolute literally not possible e.g ‘Construction or manufacturing’, they should now go into work. He didn’t say EVERYBODY should go in to work.

forgetthehousework · 10/05/2020 19:44

Well anyone who posted between 7.00pm and 7.10pm was obviously more interested in being clever on MN rather than actually listening to what was said.
Some things seem clear, others not so much, but it's pretty obvious that a lot is going to depend on how we behave now.
Judging by some of the entitled, lockdown bending excuse threads I've seen on here I am not optimistic!

Peppafrig · 10/05/2020 19:44

Load of waffle I'm glad our FM was clear about what's happening here.

livinthevidalockdown · 10/05/2020 19:44

I don't understand why everyone is saying the message is unclear!?

Go to work if you can't work from home. Avoid public transport.

Go out with your household only and adhere to social distancing. Fines will rise for not sticking to social distancing.

If cases start to rise we will go back to stricter lockdown.

Teateaandmoretea · 10/05/2020 19:45

Nurseries are enterprises, you can’t do your job from home, I’d have thought they’ll be issued with guidance and then make their own decision whether to open or not based on what BJ just said.

No, they were told to close. So they along with lots of other enterprises will need to wait to be told when they can reopen.

TabbyMumz · 10/05/2020 19:45

MintyChapstick

Why we've just been told we can go to the beach....

"Because in Wales the lockdown is still in place".

The poster said Whitby?
