I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

He wasn’t clear though was he?

He was perfectly clear! You can go out for unlimited exercise, sit in the sun and on benches but only with members of your own household. He said it at least twice!

MintyChapstick · 10/05/2020 19:37

Why we've just been told we can go to the beach....

Because in Wales the lockdown is still in place.

BlackberryCane · 10/05/2020 19:38

The message couldn't have been any clearer.

It absolutely could. There was nothing at all mentioned about childcare, or when age groups other than those specified might be back in school. It could have been explained what stage this might happen at ie when the R is at a certain point, whatever test has been met etc. That would have been clearer than simply saying nothing.

LangClegsInSpace · 10/05/2020 19:38

What the fuck did I just watch?

The biggest change I can see is that all the plebs must now go back to work.

If you're not in a union, join one now.

skodadoda · 10/05/2020 19:38

No mention of when we can meet with other households?

Therefore we should not meet with other households. As others have said, the PM was setting out the roadmap but it’s conditional on the downward progress of the cases; it really isn’t that difficult to understand.

RosesandIris · 10/05/2020 19:38

Waffle waffle waffle. I left the room like someone’s cat because I couldn’t stand being patronised any longer. All these catchphrases. Does he think we all have low IQs?

StealthPolarBear · 10/05/2020 19:38

Susie he was very clear that you could drive a distance if you choose to

Porcupineinwaiting · 10/05/2020 19:38

Gyms would be v difficult. The more you exercise, the deeper you in/exhale. Huge potential for transmission, just like w singing and choirs.

vanillandhoney · 10/05/2020 19:38

does 'you can drive somewhere' for exercise mean you can drive to somewhere loved ones are and exercise socially distanced from them?

No. What is so hard to understand about "only with members of your household"?

LizzieSiddal · 10/05/2020 19:38

I don’t understand why people are confused about what he said

You must be an expert in understanding jibberish.

BubblyBarbara · 10/05/2020 19:38

The problem with driving to places such as the beach is that the locals won't want you!

Since when did that matter. If I can park my car there there’s nothing they can do about it. They have to keep two meters away from me so they can’t even remonstrate with me haha

sor3 · 10/05/2020 19:39

I'm confused can we go and see family?

Timesdone · 10/05/2020 19:39

Quite from Boris speech

In step two – at the earliest by June 1 – after half term – we believe we may be in a position to begin the phased reopening of shops and to get primary pupils back into schools, in stages, beginning with reception, Year 1 and Year 6.

Did he mention nuseries ? I can't find it

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 19:39

So I am guessing shops are going to be open - I hope people will understand that it's ok to go to them?

Smellbellina · 10/05/2020 19:39

Conflicting stuff like definitely go back to work if you're in manufacturing / construction but don't use public transport.. So what are you supposed to do if you don't have a car and transport services are thin on the ground and now crammed full of others who don't have a car?

He didn’t say don’t use public transport he said avoid it if at all possible, honestly it was perfectly clear!

vanillandhoney · 10/05/2020 19:40

I'm confused can we go and see family?

No.

iklboo · 10/05/2020 19:40

Are hair salons counted as construction or manufacturing then ?

Neither. You can't socially distance cutting hair unless you're Edward Scissorhands.

GrimmsFairytales · 10/05/2020 19:40

Did he mention nuseries ? I can't find it

No he didn't.

Smellbellina · 10/05/2020 19:40

No he didn’t mention nurseries

vanillandhoney · 10/05/2020 19:40

So I am guessing shops are going to be open - I hope people will understand that it's ok to go to them?

No. He said shops won't open until June 1st at the earliest.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 10/05/2020 19:40

He could have just said this and it been the same...

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 19:41

So you can't go and see family - but they are asking people who can't work from home (such as shop staff) to go to work - so you could meet them there?

cushioncovers · 10/05/2020 19:41

Ffs some people need to go and listen to the speech again. It was quite clear.

happyandsingle · 10/05/2020 19:41

No didn't mention nurseries

Marsalimay · 10/05/2020 19:41

I will continue to visit a friend every couple of weeks, on a sunny day, when we can sit two metres apart in the garden.

[Hmm]
