I'm a nervy bee and thought it would be fun to watch with you all!

OP posts:
Thymelord · 10/05/2020 19:26

What a load of utter guff and waffle. People will now decide to do what they want and drive where they want. Second peak incoming.

midlifecrash · 10/05/2020 19:26

And what are the measures that will protect people encouraged to go back to work? And will they be legally enforceable? And what will be done to allow elderly people to safely see their families? And how will the tube be used? And what businesses do they think can safely reopen? Why?

Outdoorsybynature · 10/05/2020 19:26

Can we drive somewhere for a walk now?

HMSSophie · 10/05/2020 19:26

What an utter prat he is. So I have a business we've all been WFH. We could work in the office. I now have no time at al, to brief my people on whether to come in tomorrow, to make changes to the office spaces, etc.

Dailyjunglegrind · 10/05/2020 19:26

Lovely passionate speech full of utter bull. A plan unravelling that should have been organised far sooner than what we experienced and with fewer innocent deaths. Shadowing a leadership plan from a far away nation.

Would someone explain the yr6 need to go back? Haven't they completed all exams ... why not Yr5?

AldiAisleOfCrap · 10/05/2020 19:26

So, trying to apply the waffle to specific situations. Could my 17 year old theoretically go to the park on Wednesday and meet friends, while maintaining the 2-3m distance between them? Would that be allowed?
No , he said clearly own household only.

Ghostlyglow · 10/05/2020 19:26

Watching Keir Starmer pull it apart now

BlackberryCane · 10/05/2020 19:26

I think the answer to that is never. It risks covid being passed on but doesn’t help the economy.

You haven't seen how much booze I'm planning to buy when the time comes!

You're probably right though. Sunak's speech earlier this week made it clear they don't intend to continue the furlough scheme in current form beyond the end of June, ie they want people back in work. That's what everything that's actually changed is aimed at doing.

Mistymonday · 10/05/2020 19:26

His speechwriters have given him very short sentences with lots of pauses to take a breath - suggesting his lungs are still struggling.

heidihigh · 10/05/2020 19:26

What utter bollocks. He told us fuck all and absolutely no mention of when we can see people from outside our household. Not even a sniff of when that "may" be considered. Utter bullshit.

Widowodiw · 10/05/2020 19:27

No your kids can’t go park in their own. Clearly said can go park play sport but have to be in family unit.

chomalungma · 10/05/2020 19:27

I hope they give clear guidance.

Lots of lovely places to go near here.

maresydoats · 10/05/2020 19:27

I am disappointed to say the least of it about the lack of leadership and CLEAR communication as to the roadmap forward. May as well have stayed in with Carrie and Wilfred.

Everdreamer1990 · 10/05/2020 19:27

When can I & my 12 week old see my mum & dad? That is all I want to know. They're missing out on so much time with their first grandchild & we are all so fed up now.

No mention of seeing loved ones at all Sad

Cooroo · 10/05/2020 19:27

I can't stand the man but thought this was ok and clear.
Being allowed to travel further is fine because outdoor transmission is a very low risk- there won't be any tea rooms or pubs open!
Whatever he said was going to upset people.

Coronacantcope · 10/05/2020 19:27

I'm another one wondering about nurseries, is it going to be up to the nurseries themselves?

nuttymomma · 10/05/2020 19:27

That was awful!

Every single shop, hairdressers, beautician etc will open tomorrow. And most wont have any PPE, shields, masks or any social distancing.

Employers will insist on returning to work and claim their work can't be done from home.

In Scotland, where I am, people won't know which leader to listen to and I'm pretty sure they will listen to Boris cause he's the one saying go out and sunbathe! If you are a nationwide shop, will you only open shops in England?

YouTheCat · 10/05/2020 19:27

So yeah great - send back reception and year 1 - the least likely year groups to be able to manage social distancing.

None of it was very clear.

TwentyViginti · 10/05/2020 19:27

Did he just say we can sit on benches after Wednesday? Why not today?

I think I'm becoming hysterical now, but this made me Muttley laugh. You honestly couldn't make it up. Phase two of lockdown - WE CAN SIT ON BENCHES FROM WEDNESDAY!!!!

Freeeeeedom

MintyChapstick · 10/05/2020 19:27

People can drive to North Wales all they bloody well like, the police will send them packing. They've been doing it for weeks and if they slip through the net then the locals will tell them in no uncertain terms to fuck off home.

Kay1111 · 10/05/2020 19:27

North Wales isn’t the only place to go for a walk! Certainly didn’t cross my mind when I heard I can now drive somewhere for a walk 😆

SusieOwl4 · 10/05/2020 19:27

@Bookoffacts

He said only if employers can provide social distancing .

So obviously some business will have to wait until we get to the next stage . He also said more details about specifics tomorrow .

Strangerthanstrange · 10/05/2020 19:28

So can you get in your car and drive to your second home for a holiday?

AldiAisleOfCrap · 10/05/2020 19:28

@HMSSophie
Boris said work from home if you can, if your job can’t be done outside your home then go to work.

Norugratsatall · 10/05/2020 19:28

He's like a Poundland Winston Churchill isnt he?

😂😂
