Family from other households... and why? No judgment here!

OP posts:
nevermorelenore · 10/05/2020 13:50

Nope.

HollaHolla · 10/05/2020 13:51

I’ve seen my (over 70s) parents when dropping off groceries. Last week I sat in their garden, and we had a chat, as I’m on my own, and was feeling really lonely.

I have also seen another relative (gone into their house) on a weekly basis, because they have disabilities and need help/care. My parents usually provide that, but given their age, I am doing that instead. We’re staying 2m apart, even though I’ve had to go in and do their cleaning, etc.

Risotto4tea · 10/05/2020 13:51

Yes chatted through the window on my essential journey to work.

RenegadeMrs · 10/05/2020 13:51

DH's step dad lives quite nearby and will stop for a chat at the end of out garden path about once a week. Other than that none.

However, Mum will be coming to stay at the end of June when I'm due to give birth to look after DD.

Kidneybingo · 10/05/2020 13:51

Parents from the end of the drive when dropping their food shopping. I think that's OK.

NameChange7383 · 10/05/2020 13:51

and I think she would hit us with a broom if we got close because of social distancing or is she generally just not a fan of you? 😂

NightIbble · 10/05/2020 13:51

I've dropped a few things round to my sister and visa versa but kept my distance and didn't go in her house or stay long just a quick socially distanced chat on the doorstep. My Dad has been doing a bit of gardening but we've stayed inside while he was there so no contact.

Raindancer411 · 10/05/2020 13:52

Nope I can honestly say we haven't. Am third trimester and don't want to risk anything

WhatHaveIFound · 10/05/2020 13:52

I have delivered shopping to my MIL so we stood away from each other and chatted. That's all. I haven't seen my own parents as they live further away but I speak to my mum on the phone every day. That'll have to do for now.

rosieposies · 10/05/2020 13:53

I've seen my mum a few times as she has a side entrance to her garden and she lives alone, so I've taken my 1 year old round for her just to look at. I've seen my sister and nephew a few times as well, once when she waved to us through our conservatory window on my birthday. We all live within a mile of each other. Also seen my dad twice. Haven't touched any of them.

FrowningFlamingo · 10/05/2020 13:53

We’ve seen my mum once a week because we buy her shopping with our online delivery now and she comes to get it from us. Safer than her going to a supermarket. We chat through a closed window when she comes.

We’ve also seen our in-laws once because I’m a doctor and they managed to get some PPE for me. We just collected it from their doorstep and spoke through the window for a few minutes.

Otherwise nobody at all.

AgeLikeWine · 10/05/2020 13:53

Nope. I have seen nobody other than DP.

FeelinFagin · 10/05/2020 13:53

Only when passing the in-laws house while out on a walk but they live on the next street and I picked up my bbq from my storage outbuilding at my mum's farm but she stayed at the other end of the yard.
No visiting with family though, just errands or seeing in passing.

Spamellahamella · 10/05/2020 13:53

No but we don't live in the same town. If we did I might have been tempted. My sister has seen our parents a couple of times in the garden.

Burntmybiscuits · 10/05/2020 13:54

Did a lap round the meadow with my DP's mum 2 weeks ago, but stayed about 3m apart. Felt guilty afterwards and haven't seen any of my side of the family at all!

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 10/05/2020 13:54

I did see my parents after I was discharged from hospital ( not covid related) as I'd been extremely ill and not allowed visitors. As I'd had a negative covid test in hospital I presumed I'd be okay.

Elmerrrrrrrr · 10/05/2020 13:54

I'm going to stay with my mum next week

ginandgingers92 · 10/05/2020 13:54

Nope! Not even a glimpse 😭

MarieQueenofScots · 10/05/2020 13:55

Nope

zigzagbetty · 10/05/2020 13:55

Yes my oh is carer for his mum and goes round daily. Me and our lo have visited a couple of times a week sitting in the conservatory while shes in the lounge with the doors open. We've not seen anyone else in the lockdown and do shopping click and collect so weighed up the risk against the benefit to her mental health.

ginandgingers92 · 10/05/2020 13:55

They're yet to meet my baby girl 😫

FeelinFagin · 10/05/2020 13:55

I will be driving 200 miles to see my dad soon no matter what.
He's dying and doesn't have long left at all and will not be around when coronavirus is no longer a danger. I haven't seen him in so long and it's breaking his heart we may never be near each other again.

ParkheadParadise · 10/05/2020 13:56

I've seen 2 of my sister's 1 brother 1 niece and 2 great nieces and nephews. My birthday was last month they left presents on my doorstep and walked to the end of the driveway where we had a quick chat. They didn't all visit at the same time.

Tinypaws2 · 10/05/2020 13:56

No. Have missed birthdays. Can’t wait to see my parents and nieces and Nephew.

YinMnBlue · 10/05/2020 13:57
