Family from other households... and why? No judgment here!

OP posts:
xtinak · 10/05/2020 18:23

Yes, outside, probably not 2m though.

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 10/05/2020 18:24

Not a soul, family or not. I wave to the neighbours from the garden on Thursdays when we are clapping, that’s the sum of my social contact.

DamnYankee · 10/05/2020 18:28

No. Several hundred miles away, so not hard.
Have seen friends within walking distance, but not close up. We're raising and saying "Eh?" like little old ladies. Grin

DamnYankee · 10/05/2020 18:28

*raising our voices

sadwithkiddies · 10/05/2020 18:36

Nope....
i cant walk to any of my families houses - it's not an essential journal
I'd worry the kids would get upset trying to keep 2m apart...

So for now its facetime only

BlueJava · 10/05/2020 18:36

No, not at all.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 10/05/2020 18:39

I’ve seen my Mum once a week but only because I get her shopping whilst doing mine and drop it off for her.

Chestnut23 · 10/05/2020 18:43

Nope but seen every neighbour do it. They're the same lot out banging and clapping every Thursday too Hmm

Lou898 · 10/05/2020 18:57

@bigbluebus he finishes on Friday and is also in his final year. I did see him in January as sadly my mum passed away so he came home for the funeral but looking forward to seeing him if he can come home.

EmeraldShamrock · 10/05/2020 19:05

Yes immediate family we all live locally within 1-2km unfortunately we had DM's funeral during this too, Some immediate and extended family attended while maintaining distance.

Ineedaduvetday · 11/05/2020 05:46

Not me. Family don't live nearby.

ukgift2016 · 11/05/2020 05:50

No but I decided I will now by socially distancing. I waited long enough.

Jenasaurus · 11/05/2020 05:54

Nope, unless you count when my son dropped my mothers day and birthday present on my door step, rang the doorbell and left without waiting for me to open the door

I have video calls with them both and we have a regular family quiz online together, its nice to see they are coping but I miss seeing them in person

HaveAtEm · 11/05/2020 06:20

No, sadly not 😢😢 and it's breaking my heart 💔

Bluesheep8 · 11/05/2020 06:20

No. They all live 2 hrs away. My father is in a care home and I haven't seen him since 14th March. Mum is over 70. Haven't seen her since Christmas.

mummabearfourbabybears · 11/05/2020 06:48

I've seen my mum as in seen her (not hugged or kissed her) once every ten days/two weeks. She's elderly and I shop for her so leave the shopping at her door and ring the bell, retreat to the garden wall (about 4 meters away) Wait for her to answer and get her shopping in. I don't stay for chit chat, it makes me want to cry.

Ethelfleda · 11/05/2020 06:48

I haven’t.

OldCow1 · 11/05/2020 06:53

No. Too scared of being named and shamed. We stay in touch a lot by phone and WhatsApp though.

dinodiva · 11/05/2020 06:54

Only on Zoom and FaceTime.
I miss my dad desperately. My mum died at the end of last year and it’s just horrible that we’re not able to support him and give him a hug when we’re all grieving. The minute lockdown is over I’ll be there like a rocket.

BeyOnceBeyTwice · 11/05/2020 07:10

I've seen my mum through a window at her nursing home when I had to drop off some stuff she needed.
But she has dementia and had no idea I was there. Am very pregnant, I just want to hug her and it broke my heart to see her and not be able to go and check she was ok 😔

ginsparkles · 11/05/2020 07:16

My mum, from the end of her drive much more than 2m away on her birthday. And my in-laws as we pass their house on our walk and we exchange essentials that we couldn't get on our respective shops, so again from the bottom drive a brief chat maybe once a week.

Itoldyouiwasill · 11/05/2020 07:17

Yes I've met up with my elderly DM for a dog walk three times.
She has walked to the country park and I've met her there with my dog ( I've needed to drive for 15 minutes)
We have walked for a couple of hours and then she's walked home and I've driven home. We've kept socially distanced at all times. DF won't go for a walk with her and she was starting to feel so lonely as is usually so active and social.
I haven't seen my DD or GC even once

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 11/05/2020 07:19

Yes, at 2m distance when dropping/collecting food. We stop and chat for 5 min but it’s easier to have a heart to heart over the phone then yelling across a driveway in front of neighbours with the kids locked in the car.

Oblomov20 · 11/05/2020 07:20

No.

I know of loads of people who have. I thought they were intelligent. But clearly not.

Sunshineandmoonlight · 11/05/2020 07:22

Nope
