Experiences with Karma

Not really an AIBU at all - feel free to tell me off! Wasn’t sure where to post this.
I am desperately frustrated with a situation in my life and the only thing keeping me going is the idea that life isn’t always this unfair and being the bigger person will serve me in the long term. But some days that’s hard to believe.
So, what are your experiences with karma? Do you believe in it? Please share your story with me!

It was my great pleasure to make sure she didn't get it.

So nothing at all to do with any magical force and 100% your own actions that prevented her getting the job.

Whatisthisfuckery · 09/05/2020 16:54

Oops, phone crashed.

Anyway I was about to sign away my share of the house to him until he died but he’d neglected to mention his pension, and that he’d just drawn down £35000. Bank statements do not lie. Reader, I got that money, which was equivilant to my share of the house.

Not really karma as I should have got more, but it was fun to watch him squirm. He was not a happy bunny, I can tell ya.

Sparklfairy · 09/05/2020 16:54

Karma is a concept invented by dickheads to stop people taking revenge on them Grin

Everybody has runs of good and bad luck. Good people go thru shit, bad people have lucky breaks and vice versa.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 09/05/2020 16:56

Exactly sparklfairy

Honeybee85 · 09/05/2020 16:56

@ChandlerIsTheBestFriend

I think it was pretty ironic that from all the jobs in the company (a very large one) she was interested in the one that I was hiring for! So yes I see it as karma that I was in that position at that time. She applied 3 weeks after I had become teamleader Grin

Chocolatelover254 · 09/05/2020 16:57

Sorry been side tracked!!
To answer some questions first - I don’t know if I want anything ‘bad’ to happen as in him fall ill or anything like that because that’s not fair on my DD. I just mean, maybe I’d hope one day he’d be treated the way he’s treating me. It’s been hell for two years and I don’t know why he does this to me. I am not someone who enjoys confrontation of any form and this has been such a shock to me to see how awful some people can treat you with no regard for your emotions or how it may affect you
@DrunkUnicorn I didn’t realise they were so different
I’m going to look that up and see - thank you!

Chocolatelover254 · 09/05/2020 16:57

@Sparklfairy yes the logic makes sense
I’m someone who tends to believe in more than that but I’m not quite sure what
It’s bizarre

@Whatisthisfuckery this is great

I think it was pretty ironic that from all the jobs in the company (a very large one) she was interested in the one that I was hiring for!

  1. you don’t know what other jobs she had applied for as you were only responsible for hiring that one role.

  2. if you were colleagues before it’s likely you were in the same area of work, same skill sets and progression path so pretty logical that her progression would bump up alongside yours as time went on.

Honeybee85 · 09/05/2020 17:02

It's fine if you don't believe in karma...but I do and nothing is going to convince me that this wasn't karma Grin

Whatisthisfuckery · 09/05/2020 17:04

My LL recently sent me the contract for my tenancy renewal. My LL has about 30 shit hole properties that he lets so he’s not a poor man. The contract said the rent would rise by £25 per month from July, then a rise of between 3% and 7.5% each 12 months for the life of the tenancy.

I told him to do one. He can keep his pokey little rundown flat, politely, obviously. A day later I got an email telling me the landlord likes me as a tenant, so he’ll not raise the rent this year and by no more than 3% subsequently. 3% would be £27. Er, nah mate, I’ve found somewhere much nicer, and cheeper.

Now I have to make a video for the letting agent as they can’t do in person viewings. I’ll make sure prospective tenants get a good view of what a shit hole the flats are, and a good long look around the ‘stylish,’ shit hole comunal garden. Void months ahoy.

I’m just hoping the exploitative twat has the tenant from hell next. Might teach him not to fuck over tenants he likes.

TinRoofRusty · 09/05/2020 17:04

There's no such thing.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 09/05/2020 17:05

I don’t believe in karma or comeuppance or whatever, but I hope it does actually exist and that the dickhead of a builder who screwed me over gets his.

MumMummyMamaMammy · 09/05/2020 17:11

Quickly NC'd as this is so outing BUT

Ex physically abused me twice, my then 1 year old niece the first time he hurt me and my 7 month old son the second time. I kicked him out after he hurt DS (in September). Between September January and even on Christmas Eve he would ring and text me non stop, show up at my home, threatening to take me to court to see DS, blaming me for him using drugs again and being terrifying.

On New Year's Day I decided enough was enough and got the ball rolling for a court order to make him leave me alone. I went to court and got the order and the end of January. The day after he crashed his motorbike, probably whilst on drugs, and broke both his legs, shattered part of his rib cage and fractured some discs in his spine.

Don't get me wrong, I'd never have wished it on anyone, even him, but I laughed when I found out. He took me back to court over the order in March and seeing him in a wheelchair just made me think that at least he's finally not able to come to my house anymore, court order or not.

MumMummyMamaMammy · 09/05/2020 17:13

Sorry for the errors I was trying to feed DS and type at the same time Blush

Sparklfairy · 09/05/2020 17:16

@MumMummyMamaMammy I take back my previous post. THAT is karma!

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 09/05/2020 17:16

but I do and nothing is going to convince me that this wasn't karma

It’s fine that you got a kick out of rejecting her application. I would have too. But it doesn’t make it karma.

SharonasCorona · 09/05/2020 17:20

Are people actually Hindu or Buddhist or just appropriating the term?

Chocolatelover254 · 09/05/2020 17:28

@ListedBuilding yes I can see that however I really am not a nasty person so I do genuinely feel I don’t deserve to be treated in such a vile way.

OP posts:
MumMummyMamaMammy · 09/05/2020 17:34

@Sparklfairy It really does feel like it! Honestly I didn't want him to get hurt, just to stop harassing me. He got stopped alright.

NeutralJanet · 09/05/2020 17:40

I once had a boss who was a nasty piece of work. She had come to our retail store as manager after the previous retail chain she worked at had gone into administration and closed down. She relentlessly bullied all of the existing staff at the new job until they got fed up of her and one by one handed their notice in, so she could give their jobs to all her mates from her previous work. I looked for another job, got it and also handed my notice in. After I left, that company decided to downsize and close a load of stores down including the one that I had just left, so her and the mates that she had given the jobs to ended up being made redundant again, while all the staff she had bullied out were fine in their new jobs.

vlnr77yac · 09/05/2020 18:47

OP A better description would be what goes around comes around. But everyone here knows what you mean.

@ParkheadParadise - I believe it. My deepest sympathies.

What happened in your case IS actually addressed in real Karma theory. It addresses grave transgressions like murder, and the smirking criminal will apparently suffer greatly in his future lives. You just won't be around in your current form to see it.

Wherearemymarbles · 09/05/2020 18:55

Many years ago now but some one i knew had a step mum from hell. Blatantly married his dad for money.

But she never knew the massive house they lived in was rented and his money was all in trust.

I long ago lost contact but I often wonder what happened on the end.

1555CC · 09/05/2020 19:33

Everybody who has been wronged and is waiting for karma to kick in seems to have overlooked one vital thing.....if something bad has happened to you, then you must have deserved it, and it's karma for you doing something bad to someone else. Everyone thinks karma starts with something bad happening to the person who mistreated them. No one thinks it was karma that they were mistreated. Very odd.

So basically, if karma exists, I can hit an old lady on the head with a baseball bat and steal her pension money, safe in the knowledge that the evil cow must've had it coming!!!

Likethebattle · 09/05/2020 19:36

I was bullied by two people at work. One had her marriage break down, a car crash and was ostracised by people who liked me once I left. The manager who was an utter prick (he actually used the words ‘bros before hos), ended up with an issue with his foot joint which meant he couldn’t do his usual mountain climbing and snowboarding that he boasted about. He was the cheapest cunt I’ve ever met and even showered at work to avoid paying his heating bill at home.
