Has anyone else received notice that their child’s nursery is opening?

Received an email from DS’ nursery last week. Exact wording:

“The nursery will be reopening on the 11th of May for children who's parents are Key Workers/ Critical Workers and for those parents who are still working and have not been furloughed”

I haven’t responded and am resigned to wait and see what is announced tomorrow. Both DH and I are WFH but just about managing.
Has anyone else received similar?

Ours has been open the whole time for key workers. We haven’t heard anything about them reopening to others though.

P.s. spot the spelling mistake in the nursery’s email (I copied and pasted Smile)

@ilikebigbuttsandicannotlie same here

Interesting. I’m sure I had an email at the beginning of all of this saying that my childminding insurance was only valid if a child had a key worker parent. For any other child insurance was invalid as they shouldn’t be in the setting. Maybe nursery insurance is different?

But, officially, the government haven’t said this is allowed, so I’d be quite wary of the nursery tbh. I appreciate that financially, they are probably on their knees right now, but I’m not convinced that makes it right for them to be reopening.

pennylane83 · 09/05/2020 13:40

@Ethelfleda should be whose and not who's

Livelovebehappy · 09/05/2020 14:02

My daughter has received an email from her employer (she’s a nursery worker currently furloughed) to say her nursery will be resuming normally as from 18th May, so I’m guessing the nursery has been given the green light by the government.

cologne4711 · 09/05/2020 14:05

Not sure about 11th May but 18th May would be consistent with the rail service moving back to 70% capacity from 18th. The government is obviously expecting quite a few people to go back to work.

Ethelfleda · 09/05/2020 14:07

@Ethelfleda should be whose and not who's

I know. I copied and posted that from their email - and I posted on here to point out that I had noticed the spelling mistake.
Have you got anything to contribute??

I presumed @pennylane83 was replying to this
P.s. spot the spelling mistake in the nursery’s email

JasonPollack · 09/05/2020 14:10

You asked people to spot the spelling mistake...

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 09/05/2020 14:11

You literally asked for people to spot the mistake.

ScarfLadysBag · 09/05/2020 14:13
Grin 'Spot the spelling mistake!' 'It's this.' 'Ugh don't you have anything better to do?!'
mummypie17 · 09/05/2020 14:17

I think @pennylane83 was replying to your previous post of spotting the spelling mistake

pennylane83 · 09/05/2020 14:22

@Ethelfleda It was in response to your post 'P.s. spot the spelling mistake in the nursery’s email (I copied and pasted Smile)' - a bit of lighthearted banter or so I thought.

I've had an email in a similar vein to gage which parents would be likely to send their children back to nursery if they were to be given the green light to reopen - I guess they are just trying to get an idea of potential staffing needs moving forward as there will be some parents who would still prefer to keep their children at home.

AvoidingRealHumans · 09/05/2020 14:28

Nothing to add apart from why ask people to spot the spelling mistake and then have a pop at someone for doing just that Confused

Glitteryone · 09/05/2020 14:31

Wow ask people to spot the spelling mistake and then be a dick when they do.

Are you okay hun?

SunshineCake · 09/05/2020 14:33

Why are you moaning about a spelling mistake ? Hmm.

NellMangel · 09/05/2020 14:36

Woah is the nursery including children of touchy parents?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 09/05/2020 14:37

I love the strop at someone spotting the spelling mistake after the op...suggested someone spot the spelling mistake

EuphegeniaDoubtfire · 09/05/2020 14:37

Well, you've made yourself look like a dick...

Istwowyes17262 · 09/05/2020 14:40

Interesting I hope ours is going to do the same, it remained open to key workers until about 3 weeks ago.... I presume they then furloughed all their staff as it wasn’t cost effective to remain open.

it’s a nightmare juggling the baby between our jobs.

Fingers crossed it’s a sign that they are looking to reopen.

Lindy2 · 09/05/2020 14:41

I'm a childminder. I'm pretty certain the Government have issued no official statement to childcare providers apart from the original lockdown statement that all settings were to close apart for the children of key workers. Even then if it was possible to keep key worker children at home then they should stay at home rather than attend school or nursery.

Any school, nursery or childminder saying different is not following the lockdown advice. I would also say they are putting their finances above the safety of your children.

I also doubt they will be able to have valid insurance in place if they operate when they have been told not to.

I do not plan to reopen until it's absolutely safe for me, my family and the children I care for.

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 09/05/2020 15:04

Lol at the responses to the Spot the Mistake Competition Grin

okiedokieme · 09/05/2020 15:05

Interesting, my head teacher friend has told me they are reopening from preschool through year 12 (private school) on 1 June. She didn't say how she got the information that the government is allowing it but probably through independent schools association I guess? She's told all staff to take their half term a week early as they are required in the week before reopening to prep

RedRec · 09/05/2020 15:08

I don't think 'spot the spelling mistake' was meant as an invitation.
