Has anyone else received notice that their child’s nursery is opening?

Received an email from DS’ nursery last week. Exact wording:

“The nursery will be reopening on the 11th of May for children who's parents are Key Workers/ Critical Workers and for those parents who are still working and have not been furloughed”

I haven’t responded and am resigned to wait and see what is announced tomorrow. Both DH and I are WFH but just about managing.
Has anyone else received similar?

No, as they're waiting for tomorrow but have said they will be in touch straight after. They have said they will prioritise working parents, which I get, but I am sad for DS as I was made redundant at the start of lockdown!

Musmerian · 09/05/2020 15:09

@pennylane83 - not a spelling mistake but a grammatical error pedant

Nochangeplease · 09/05/2020 15:09

Nurseries and schools have not been fed any information not in the public domain. Well ours certainly haven’t.

RedWillowWreckless · 09/05/2020 15:10

I own a nursery, we've had no communication whatsoever about reopening.

Oysterbabe · 09/05/2020 15:17

I haven't my stomach just did an excited little flip at this being a possibility.

LindainLockdown · 09/05/2020 15:31

That is great news, will be good for you OP, things are obviously getting to you.

Ethelfleda · 09/05/2020 15:43

God sorry @pennylane83
Just made a bit of a tit of myself there didn’t I Grin

I blame lockdown/the heat for scrambling my brain.

Ahem. (Wishing the ground would swallow me up)

I’d be very wary of a nursery that thinks they’re above the law.

Ethelfleda · 09/05/2020 15:47

Yes, I concede. I did make myself look like a dick. Somewhat of a leitmotif in my life that is.

Apologies for being a little crazy everyone!

No I haven’t heard anything from my sons nursery

Sweetiepye · 09/05/2020 15:48

Shame the op has now made the thread more about the grammatical error (not spelling mistake, as who’s isn’t actually a spelling error! It has just been used in the wrong context). Just posting to show op that I hadn’t noticed a spelling mistake, but had noticed a grammatical error. Biscuit

Tootletum · 09/05/2020 15:48

That would be such a massive relief if childminders can open. My toddler is just not safe in the house if we're working.

Ethelfleda · 09/05/2020 15:49

In any case, we are not planning on sending him back any point soon. Waiting to hear what is announced tomorrow and then we will judge from there I guess. I’m not going to rush him back while we are coping I guess.

Ok sweetie I have actually apologised.

I see you have, but I don’t type quick enough to have seen your apology before posting! However I do type quicker than it took you to realise your error!

okiedokieme Interesting, my head teacher friend has told me they are reopening from preschool through year 12 (private school) on 1 June. She didn't say how she got the information that the government is allowing it but probably through independent schools association I guess? She's told all staff to take their half term a week early as they are required in the week before reopening to prep

@okiedokieme I would love more update on the piece of news. What does he/she know and how they are planning their social distancing for the staff and students etc

One of my family members works in a nursery. She has been told they may be re-opening mid May but nothing official. If the manager/owners have had anything from the government they have not shared it.
Similarly loads of shops are preparing to re-open mid May.

Mullikins · 09/05/2020 16:23

Why is this thread full of people being dicks??? 😂

I’m afraid I can take credit for that one for seemingly not reading my own posts. I am now in a pit of self loathing about the whole thing.

Agh! Bold fail! I can’t do anything right!

MollyButton · 09/05/2020 16:30

I just wonder has your Nursery heard that Garden Centres are going to be allowed to open, and got confused over the type of nursery?

But I do know a lot of nurseries are struggling especially if the Government doesn't continue paying for furloughed workers.

Cherryblossomsnow · 09/05/2020 16:33

@ethal this thread is making me smile though. I like that you apologised Halo

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 09/05/2020 16:44
