Just that really.

Stuck on what to get DS. He can cruise around, he loves cardboard boxes and socks 🙈. We want to get him a few bits to have but don't know what to get!

A big helium balloon was a big hit for us!

WhoCaresAnyway95 · 07/05/2020 12:00

My daughter's birthday is April. For her first birthday she had a small slide and little tykes car so she could play outside and then other little bits but she was already walking by then x

MummaGiles · 07/05/2020 12:02

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/05/2020 12:05

Pop up tunnel, stacking cups.

Mylittlepony374 · 07/05/2020 12:07

Wooden toy kitchen. Best thing ever. They still play with it now, 2 years later.

SeasonFinale · 07/05/2020 12:08

As he was small enough not to care or even really notice we bought a wooden rocking horse from a local maker. It still stands in our house even though be is now 18! One day hopefully grandchildren will play on it to. Over the years every child who has visited has climbed on and had a go

We bought our eldest a wooden ride on lady bird. It was a good quality one and cost us around £70 iirc. She is now 6 and has a younger sister and it is still played with daily by both. By far the best toy we have ever bought!

I’ve just found it online. £60 and it’s as good as new after all these years. They do different bugs too (bumble bee etc). Highly recommend.

A pop up play tent and tunnel was probably the most loved 1st birthday gift across our 3 dc.

princesstwinkle · 07/05/2020 12:20

Thanks all. Some lovely ideas. Much appreciated!

A wheelybug and a happyland bus were the presents that got years of use.

FTMF30 · 07/05/2020 12:26

Maybe one of those push along walkers since he is cruising?

LiquoricePickle · 07/05/2020 16:19

I have a three year old (tomorrow!) and a just turned one year old, so we already have a lot from the eldest. She got a Grimm's rainbow, friends in cups, an ostheimer animal, toy food, cars and a toy mouse.

Maybelatte · 07/05/2020 16:22

DS turned one in October. I bought him a wooden walker, abacus, a few books, a poncho from Piccalily, Bob and Blossom ‘1’ T-shirt and some rainbow leggings, wooden blocks, a puzzle, reusable birthday nappy, moulin Roty piano and a little crochet pixie doll from Pebble Child.

Louise0701 · 07/05/2020 16:23

Cosy coupe and a trike as he was getting a bit fed up of the pram.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 07/05/2020 16:31

Child 1 - Little Tykes slide
Child 2 - Dog on wheels walker
Child 3 - Little Tykes rocking whale
Child 4 - Little Tykes folding play house
Child 5 - Steiff rabbit - all the above toys were still around and in good condition.

LouHotel · 07/05/2020 16:35

Happyland bus is the most used toy in this house, now on its third child.

Sciurus83 · 07/05/2020 16:35

A little piano and drum. Grandparents got a play greengrocer shop and other family members got lots of wooden fruit and veg...we have the best stocked greengrocer in the neighbourhood Grin

Fudgecakes · 07/05/2020 16:50

I went down a slightly sentimental route and bought my dd something that she could love as a child but that was also a keepsake. We bought her a Steiff Golden Retriever toy dog (always have had GR's). It was cuddled and loved with supervised play but not dragged through the mud, so to speak, so is still in lovely condition. She's 15 now and really appreciates what he is and what he represents....she'll always have her 1st birthday gift and he can, hopefully, go down the generations to come We also bought her a little something age appropriate to really play with, which I can't remember what now!

princesstwinkle · 07/05/2020 16:57

So far family have got him a little tikes car, a swing for the garden and some clothes.
We've order a sentimental gift and think we will order a few little bits for him to play with. I really like
The idea of a trike but all the walking routes round here are sand or gravel and I'm not sure if it will stand up to it.

One DS got the red and yellow little tikes cosy car and that was a huge hit. Another DS got the little tikes playhouse and that was a great toy. A scuttle bug was another popular toy here.

TheMandalorian · 07/05/2020 17:11

Successful and enduring toys were:
Ride on zebra.
Ball popping toy.
Click klack cars.
Stacking toys.
Duplo.
Toot toot cars.
Ball.
Cuddly toy.
Ds1 was obsessed with vehicles. Ds2 was more of an all rounder but loves cuddly toys.
