Will you be seeing your family if lockdown is relaxed?

If lockdown is relaxed on Monday, will you see your family from other households again? I had a baby last month and none of my family have met him and I’m in two minds whether to stay isolating or to let them meet him if the rules change.

I've already made the decision to see my sister and her children. They all need to attend a funeral so I've offered to be driver for the day, under normal circumstances they would be in a funeral car but that's not possible at present. They've had the virus so I've weighed up the risks and I'm happy to do it.

I have a 13 week old. I'd be happy to see family and as long as we do social distancing but they will not be having cuddles with my DD. Babies don't have an immune system so not worth the risk!

Yes, we all live about a 15 minute walk away from eachother so won't be having to travel far. DHs family are a lot further away, so would wait for the rules on travelling to be relaxed before going to see them, but I miss them as well!

Please be careful with babies and under fives. The latest research shows that they are susceptible to the virus and may show completely different symptoms to those in adults.

Can you link to this research please urkidding?

Yes but outdoors and still at a distance

I won't be seeing my mum who is in care home

@urkidding can you link the research? are you talking about the Kawasaki disease in children that's been reported or that one recent case of the 6 week old baby?

I'd love nothing more than to see my parents, both in their 80s but who are both very healthy. Unfortunately I live in Scotland, they are in Northumberland so it would mean a 90 minute drive.

'Although rare, children under age 1 (infants) are at higher risk of severe illness with COVID-19. This is likely due to their immature immune systems and smaller airways, which make them more likely to develop breathing issues with respiratory virus infections.

A study of more than 2,100 children with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in China between late December and early February showed that just under 11% of infants had severe or critical illness. In comparison, rates of severe or critical illness were about 7% for children ages 1 to 5, 4% for those 6 to 10, 4% for those 11 to 15 and 3% for those 16 and older'.

My parents are elderly and not in great health so I'll be leaving the decision to them.

It's a moot point though as they are in Wales and lock down continues for another 3 weeks at least there
