To wonder how she's not overweight?

Slim! DFriend eats

Breakfast - Smoothie then Diet coke

Lunch - 2 piece chicken and chips with a drink.

Snack - maybe a chocolate bar.

That's it. Sometimes she will eat a bag of crisps to herself in the evening. I'm so jealous and she knows it Grin I'm so baffled as to why she isn't overweight? She's a size 8/10 and looks great.

Drives everywhere so not really walking anything off. Will skip for 20 minutes 3 times a week but that's it. Again, I'm so envious Sad

Amen to that, VladmirsPoutine Grin

I'm waiting for the 'where are your vegetables?' posts... they always make me laugh. Some posters are just so earnest about their superior eating habits.

Chiyo666 · 06/05/2020 14:11

So she basically eats one meal a day? I only eat one meal a day and I eat whatever I want. I’ve been doing it for 2 years and I’m slim. If you saw my order at kfc you would also wonder how I’m not 15 stone.

AnotherMurkyDay · 06/05/2020 14:15

When I was a size 6-8 I ate like that. I used have coffee for breakfast and otherwise skip it most days, but once a week I'd have a massive fry up, and another time a mars bar or something, so if you saw me on one of those days you'd think I did it every day, which I didn't.
Lunch I would have a meal deal from Tesco or a subway meal, or a burger from McDonald's, usually a mayo chicken. Or a Greggs sausage roll. Again you'd think "how can you be thin and eat that?" Because it was the smallest cheapest thing, and in the middle of a busy work day. I walked home because I couldn't often afford takeaway lunches and travel expenses.
In the evening I'd have takeaway once or twice with friends, but I was a picker so used to have a little bit of everything and actually not eat that much. Otherwise easy crap like ready meals, pasta, pot noodle. I rarely had bread in, and didn't always have milk because it went off before I used it. So my morning coffee was black with lots of sugar.

Dreadful diet, and I'm paying for it now. And defiantly no longer a 6-8. Weirdly I got really fat when I started eating fruit and veg again

OP How old is she and how old are you? Age makes a huge difference here. When I was under 40 I could eat all manner of crap. After 40 is a whole inferential ball game. I just need to look at a bueno whatever and arse can’t fit through the door Grin.

Shimy · 06/05/2020 14:17

‘Different ball game’

lilgreen · 06/05/2020 14:18

She’s not eating enough calories and I can’t skip for more than 5 mins. It’s seriously hard.

HotCrossBungle · 06/05/2020 14:19

Not healthy but no way is she going over calories unless she's under 4ft 6 or something.

What do YOU eat?

lilgreen · 06/05/2020 14:20

@Chiyo666 that’s interesting. Tell me more.

RowenaRavenclawTheSecond · 06/05/2020 14:22

Yes stuff like kfc is calorific but if that's her only meal, she isn't going to get overweight from that.

HollySideEyes · 06/05/2020 14:23

Not once on that super skinny v's supersize programme, or whatever it was called did the skinny one overeat or the supersize undereat when it came to analysing their food intake. Shock.

Chiyo666 · 06/05/2020 14:24

@lilgreen omad?

It’s very easy and simple. You fast for 23 hours and then eat your meal in a one hour window. You can pretty much eat whatever you want as it’s the fasting that beneficial rather than the calories but I try to stick to 1200 calories. It completely cured my bulimia because I was no longer restricting certain foods or binge eating. It’s not for everyone but it works for me. I usually eat around 6 o clock but sometimes I move it to the afternoon depending on what I’m working.

lilgreen · 06/05/2020 14:27

It’s that freedom thing, just takes all the pressure off. I’ve done 5:2 and just knowing you can have a day off helps enormously. Do you do it ever day?

Chiyo666 · 06/05/2020 14:29

Yep every day :)

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 06/05/2020 14:32

Because she’s eating fuck all. Might suffer from various deficiencies.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 06/05/2020 14:34

God knows.

My son eats really healthily, his favourite meal consists of lentils, leeks, carrots, a spoonful of creme fraiche, few herbs and a grilled chicken breast. He drinks mainly water and black coffee and walks everywhere as we have no car. Regularly clocking up 10 miles at a time.

He's overweight.

And yet he has friends who live off junk and are driven everywhere and they're slim.

I think a lot in part is genetic, it must be.

But I also think some people burn a lot of nervous energy without realising, just general walking round the house and foot tapping etc. Which I've noticed ds doesn't tend to do.

kateandme · 06/05/2020 14:35

lots of people(sometimes in low income) families are very very underweight.ubut there diet consists of nutritiously shit foods we woud be "jealouis" of.often choc, chips etc.but they still arent eating enough or getting the nourishment so their bodies wont function properly

formerbabe · 06/05/2020 14:36

Food can appear deceptive....a hamburger might look like the 'unhealthy' option for lunch for example but it could easily have less calories in it than a sandwich or even a salad...depending on how it's made.

Her takeaway chicken and chips probably has less calories in it than a homemade lasagne or spaghetti Bolognese.

kateandme · 06/05/2020 14:37

plus does she eat what she wants and listen to her body.whether it wants shit or not shes listening to whatever the fuck she wants.all the people who look good and dont worry about weight are ones who dont give a fuk and eat what they want so their bodies are ocmpelely intune to what they want

lilgreen · 06/05/2020 14:39

I’m sure on one of the various programs about diet they found the worst junk food was takeaway pizza for fat and salt. KFC 2 piece meal or a hamburger were the best.

lilgreen · 06/05/2020 14:41

I agree @kateandme. My DH is tall and slim. He’s generally healthy but will eat what he wants but is quite restrained. He won’t eat lunch because it’s lunchtime, he’ll eat when he’s hungry.

kateandme · 06/05/2020 14:44

Chiyo666 are you saying you eat all your intake in one day in one hour?
youve not sured anything just given yourslef aanother way to control food with another batshit crzy regime.
youve not cured your bulimia if youve not cure the emotional sutff that made you bulimic.

kateandme · 06/05/2020 14:45

lilgreen thankyou noone ever agrees with me.god lockdown brain because youve got me with that comment today Blush

Thefaceofboe · 06/05/2020 14:49

That’s not much food at all?

Spam88 · 06/05/2020 14:50

Not once on that super skinny v's supersize programme, or whatever it was called did the skinny one overeat or the supersize undereat when it came to analysing their food intake. Shock.

Actually, there was a superskinny guy on there once who massively overate but it's was basically all chocolate. That's what I aspire to.

rvby · 06/05/2020 14:50

When it comes to weight loss/maintenance, there's no such thing as "junk food" vs. "healthy food", there's just calories and it sounds like she doesn't take in very many. Her daily intake could easily be sub 1000 calories a day based on your post. Definitely not more than 1500, and most women burn 1800+ calories a day, so yeah she's slim.

Her cholesterol might be through the roof, maybe she has loads of visceral fat, she might be prediabetic, she might die of a heart attack with all that sodium - but she's unlikely to go up dress sizes.

Also you may not be aware of how many cals are in the fried chicken/chips meal she favours - it's unlikely to be more than 800 calories. Which sounds a lot but that's sort of her only meal all day
