Do you think I could do a zoom meeting with a background whilst in the bath?

Just that really.

Got awful period pains and would love a nice hot bath but I've got to do a member of my teams appraisal at 2.30.

If I kept the camera on my face and put a background on, how would she know?? I could even put a scarf around my neck to cover up.

Disclaimer: I obviously won't do this but I would blooming love to!

Hot water bottle or reschedule?

Methtones · 04/05/2020 14:06

No.

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 04/05/2020 14:06

No

Apple1029 · 04/05/2020 14:08

Dont be ridiculous. If you were at the office you would definitely find a way to manage. Use a hot bottle/meds or something.

Lipz · 04/05/2020 14:09

That's just all kinds of weird. Cancel the meeting and do it when you are feeling better and fully dressed.

milienhaus · 04/05/2020 14:10

Obviously no, plus it’s their appraisal!! Hot water bottle seems better.

greenyblueeyedgirl · 04/05/2020 14:11

there would be a guaranteed Zoom fail and you'd be the talk of the office for years!!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 04/05/2020 14:12

I've done numerous meeting in pyjamas, (and one with wine in a mug) but in the bath sounds a step too far.
What if the cat knocks the laptop in the bath, or approaches and you have to move to avoid cat knocking laptop......

Hot Water bottle or microwave heat bag. And an asprin.
And red wine in a mug.

Or say you don't feel well and reschedule.

Sittingonthefence83 · 04/05/2020 14:13

Grin yeah do it!! You'd probably get away with it !

minettechatouette · 04/05/2020 14:13

Hahahaha. I love this. I love baths. I am a barrister and have to do Skype court hearings these days - please let me know if this works as I would love to make my submissions from the tub.

ErickBroch · 04/05/2020 14:14

It's clearly lighthearted - some people's responses!

SerenDippitty · 04/05/2020 14:14

You’d have to keep extremely still to avoid splashing noises.

WeirdAndPissedOff · 04/05/2020 14:15

I'd be too scared of accidentally pushing a button and appearing in front of all my colleagues in my birthday suit!
Plus the risks of laptop falling in the bath as a pp said.

Won't there be steam and mild splashing, too? Not to mention you'll probably look like you're at a funny angle?

It sounds a little tempting, but I think I'd feel a bit "exposed" and self-conscious even if I knew they couldn't see anything.

beesthatbuzz · 04/05/2020 14:17

Clearly not going to actually do this. Just thinking out loud.
I reckon it would be doable though. Not worth the risk, camera slips and I'll never be able to go back in the office again.

GreyishDays · 04/05/2020 14:17

I think the acoustics would give you away.

Difficultcustomer · 04/05/2020 14:18

I use a microwave heat pack. I’d be too worried about laptop slipping enough to be embarrassing before crashing into the bath. Other might wonder where the splashing noise was coming from in your book filled study Grin

theconstantinoplegardener · 04/05/2020 14:18

No way! Even if there is no technical failure, your colleague would probably be able to tell that you were in the bathroom from the echoey sound, or hear water sloshing if you moved. It would be uncomfortable and distracting for them and I doubt they'd perform at their best, which might affect the outcome of their appraisal.

I hope you feel better soon though. Maybe a hot water bottle and some chocolate would help.

OneandTwenty · 04/05/2020 14:18

As someone who cannot have baths when on her period not a fan of the "jaws" vibe , I can't think of anything worst!

Can't think of anything worst than introducing the face of any work colleagues in my private home actually, I stick to my study.

CockCarousel · 04/05/2020 14:19

Not unless your name's Douglas Reynholm.

SerenDippitty · 04/05/2020 14:20

And what if you farted? You’d probably get away with it if you were sitting on a sofa but bath water does have an amplifying effect.

sleepwhenidie · 04/05/2020 14:21

Potential for disaster = HUGE Grin and dropping the laptop in the bath would probably be the best case scenario of several available!

Haha everyone is far more worried about the prospect of showing their tits to their colleagues than death by electrocution. How very British Grin

BlueJava · 04/05/2020 14:27

Way too risky! And the bathroom echo will give it away. Hot water bottle would be safer!

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2020 14:31

I can picture this now. Grin You would have to lie very still. And steam may be a problem.
